St John’s Primary

Today’s visit was to St John’s Primary, a charming little school hidden in the heart of Cheltenham town centre. And what struck me the moment I arrived was the mutual respect the teachers and pupils at St John’s have for one another.

Budding Author Florence’s Story

B. Ware loves nothing more than when a student races up to her during a school visit, eager to share a story they've been working on at home.

Noremarsh Junior

Today's visit to Noremarsh Junior was arranged through Devizes Books. I don’t know how on earth this wonderful bookshop managed to secure 70+ pre-orders when there are only around 200 pupils at Noremarsh!!! But I’m guessing it has a lot to do with the headteacher’s unwavering dedication to foster a love of reading for pleasure at this school.

St Mary’s Primary

This was the first time I’d visited St Mary’s Primary in Tetbury. But from the moment I arrived there, I knew I was going to be in for a great day. The pupils filed into the assembly with massive grins on their faces, sat beautifully whilst I read the opening chapters of WARNING: May Contain Dragons, and were keen to ask and answer as many questions as we could squeeze in.

Abbey Park Middle School

The greeting I received from the breakfast club attendees when I arrived back at Abbey Park Middle School made me wonder whether they’d mistaken me for royalty! It brought tears to my eyes to realise just how excited they all were to have me back again.

Blackminster Middle School

Blazers seem to have magical properties, making their young wearers appear way ahead of their years. So, I found it a little daunting returning to Blackminster Middle School, where the Year 6, 7 & 8 pupils all looked 18+.

Linden Primary

This morning, it was back to Linden Primary for another whirlwind of a day, with my assembly being swiftly followed by eight… yes, EIGHT workshops! (Didn’t I say last year that I wouldn’t recommend so many back-to-back workshops in one day?!?!)

Llangattock CIW Primary

Today, I travelled to Wales to spend a delightful day at LLangattock CIW Primary. During my assembly, it was evident how much the pupils all enjoyed reading and how excited they were to have an author in their midst. And when I launched into my workshops, it soon became clear that many of them were budding authors themselves.
