Bruce Springsteen, Thunder Road: Darling you know just what I'm here for...

The tenth phrase of the first stanza. For the fun I placed some Edward Hopper in the pictures on the wall.

Don't run back insidedarling you know just what I'm here for

The tenth phrase of the first stanza. For the fun I placed some Edward Hopper in the pictures on the wall. I'm not completely satisfied with this drawing (posture proportion Bruce and Mary), but it will have to do, due to a lack of time. Hope you enjoy it nevertheless.

Afscheid van koning Albert

Koning Albert kondigt vanavond aan dat hij afstand doet van de Belgische troon ten voordele van zijn zoon prins Filip. Koning Albert is moe. De vorige regeringsvorming, die zo'n 500 dagen in beslag nam, is hem niet in de kleren gekropen. Officieel treedt de koning af omwille van zijn hoge leeftijd (79 jaar) en omwille van gezondheidsproblemen. Koning Albert was de zesde koning van de Belgen. Hij is aangetreden in augustus 1993, na de plotse dood van koning Boudewijn. Hij is geboren in 1934 en trouwde op 25-jarige leeftijd met de Italiaanse Donna Paola Ruffo di Calabria. Koning Albert is zonder enige twijfel de man die België in de laatste jaren bij elkaar hield. Niet alleen als symbolische gezagsdrager maar vooral ook door zijn vele formele en informele contacten om de plooien glad te strijken tussen de verschillende partijen. Zijn zoon prins Filip werd sinds het overlijden van koning Boudewijn klaargestoomd om de taak van koning op zich te nemen.

King Albert will announce tonight that he renounces the Belgian throne in favor of his son Prince Philippe. King Albert is tired. The previous government formation, which took some 500 days, was extremely exhausting for him.  King Albert was the sixth king of the Belgians. He took office in August 1993, after the sudden death of King Baudouin. He was born in 1934 and married at the age of 25 with the Italian Donna Paola Ruffo di Calabria. King Albert is without a doubt the man who held Belgium in recent years together. Not only as a symbolic authority figure but also in his many formal and informal contacts to dissolve the different views of the political parties. One may ask rightly whether with the resignation of King Albert the last true Belgian did not step down.

Bovendien kwam het koningshuis de laatste tijd niet altijd in positief daglicht aangaande de creatieve manieren van koningin Fabiola om de Belgische belastingen te ontduiken. Daarbovenop eiste de buitenechtelijke dochter van Albert, Delphine Boël een dna-test om eens en voor altijd officieel erkenning te krijgen als dochter van haar vader, koning Albert. Koning Albert was de zesde koning van de Belgen. Hij is aangetreden in augustus 1993, na de plotse dood van koning Boudewijn. Moreover, the royal family did not come always in positive light lately regarding the creative ways of Queen Fabiola to evade Belgian taxe.  In addition demanded the illegitimate daughter of Albert, Delphine Boel demanded a DNA test to get once and for all the official recognition as the daughter of her father, King Albert. Pol Pallet en Benny Beton: schets voor de cover van het album

Zopas deze schets gemaakt voor het compilatie-album rond de strips van Pol Pallet en Benny Beton. Het blijven leuke figuren om te tekenen. Op dit moment wordt de lay-out gemaakt voor dat album.

Kijkplaat helden

De volledige kijkplaat over rampen en helden, waar ik eerder reeds enkele plaatjes van had gepost. Er gebeurt veel op zo'n plaat. En het is altijd weer een uitdaging om maken.

Malmberg kijkplaat familie

Opdracht van Malmberg voor een kijkplaat over familie. In totaal twintig verschillende familieleden die elk op hun eigen specifieke manier moesten worden uitgebeeld.  De plaatjes moesten meer zijn dan portretjes, ik moest ook de handen tonen, zodat je kan zien wat ze doen. Sommige familieleden verduidelijken hun activiteiten en voorkeuren met een tekstballon.

Malmberg kijkplaat flits

Opdracht van Malmberg. Een kijkplaat voor leerlingen fotografie. Er gebeurt veel op dat strand. Leuk om doen dit. Zoals trouwens al hun opdrachten. Het moeilijkste hier vond ik de snelweg op een geloofwaardige manier te integreren in het strand-landschap. Figuurtjes linksonder zijn uitleef-momenten. Over deze kleurplaat heb ik een lichte filter gezet. Niet op het origineel.

'Don't run back inside...' Voor deze zin heb ik het mezelf niet gemakkelijk gemaakt. Best mogelijk dat het behang en kastje wat Europees aandoen, alhoewel. Voor het behang heb ik me geïnspireerd op de cover van het album 'Darkness on the edge of town' waar Bruce ietwat handenwringend voor een klassiek behangen muur staat met een soort grote rozen op het papier. Ik heb me steeds afgevraagd of dat het geboortehuis van Bruce was. Bij mijn weten wordt daar in 'The Promise', de documentaire over het ontstaan van 'Darkness' niet over gerept. Het is volgens mij wel daar dat die hele plaat, met de nodige moeilijkheden en kinderziekten werd opgenomen. Voor deze prent heb ik dus voor dat behang gekozen en het is daarom dat er meer tijd heb in is gekropenen dan in de vorige prenten. Nog zes tekeningen en de eerste strofe is af.

Bruce Springsteen: I just can't face myself alone again.

Voor het tekenen van deze prent had ik een duidelijk beeld voor me. Bruce in een kleine, ietwat groezelige badkamer voor de spiegel, het hoofd neergeslagen. Niet in staat om de confrontatie aan te gaan met zichzelf. De kraan loopt, de warme dampen die opstijgen geven de scene een Blade Runner-achtig tintje (de film, niet de atleet). Hopelijk kunnen jullie ervan genieten.

Before drawing this picture I had a clear idea of it in my mind. Bruce in a small, somewhat grubby bathroom in front of a mirror, letting hang down his head. Unable to  confront with himself. From the faucet the hot vapors are rising wich give the scene a Blade Runner-like flavor (the movie, not the athlete). Hopefully you can enjoy it.
