Coca-Cola Faces Legal Blow That Could Redefine Clean Labeling
Coca-Cola is facing a class-action lawsuit that could send ripples through the beverage industry and force companies to reexamine what they call “natural.”
The Cool Down reported that, filed by a California consumer, the suit alleges the company misled shoppers by branding products like Fanta and Sprite with the phrase “100% Natural Flavors” while using synthetic additives.
The complaint, filed by Victoria Palmer, claims the sodas contain ingredients such as citric acid and potassium citrate, which are flavor enhancers that don’t occur naturally in the way consumers might assume. Palmer argues these ingredients directly contradict the “natural” label and accuses Coca-Cola of violating multiple consumer protection and advertising laws.
At the heart of the lawsuit is a growing backlash against greenwashing, the marketing tactic where brands use buzzwords and eco-friendly claims to make products appear cleaner or healthier than they actually are. Coca-Cola has already faced criticism in this arena, including a recent controversy over quietly rolling back a pledge to increase returnable and refillable packaging by 2030.

While the lawsuit is still in its early stages, it taps into growing consumer frustration with vague or misleading labels. According to the complaint, customers are being sold a wellness promise that doesn’t hold up under scrutiny, especially when additives linked to potential health concerns are involved.
This case isn’t just about soda. If successful, it could set a new precedent for how food and beverage companies use terms like “natural,” “clean,” and “green” in their labeling. It could also trigger more regulatory oversight and open the door for similar lawsuits across the wellness sector, from flavored waters to supplements.
For Coca-Cola, which has long leaned into marketing that emphasizes freshness, purity, and environmental responsibility, the stakes are high. As the company continues to invest in sustainability messaging and packaging reforms, this legal challenge could force it, and others, to match those messages with ingredient transparency.
In a time when wellness branding is everywhere, the pressure is growing to ensure that what’s on the label actually reflects what’s inside the bottle.

TSA Breaks Silence on Major Rule Change
Earlier this week a report emerged suggesting passengers at all U.S. airports would no longer need to take off their shoes while going through Transportation Security Administration screening.
Following the terrorist attack in New York City that left thousands dead, travelers have been forced to remove their shoes while going through screening. TSA PreCheck members were allowed to skirt the rule even though modern screening technology could have made it so no one had to untie a shoe.
That time has finally come. On Tuesday, July 8, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced a new policy which will allow passengers traveling through domestic airports to keep their shoes on while passing through security screening at TSA checkpoints.
“Ending the ‘Shoes-Off’ policy is the latest effort DHS is implementing to modernize and enhance traveler experience across our nation’s airports,” Secretary Noem said in a statement provided by the TSA.
“We expect this change will drastically decrease passenger wait times at our TSA checkpoints, leading to a more pleasant and efficient passenger experience. As always, security remains our top priority. Thanks to our cutting-edge technological advancements and multi-layered security approach, we are confident we can implement this change while maintaining the highest security standards. This initiative is just one of many the Trump administration is pursuing to usher in the President’s vision for a new Golden Age of American travel.”
While the TSA is relaxing screening for one aspect, the travel administration made it clear passengers must still clear identity verification, Secure Flight vetting, and other processes.
The new change should cut down on long wait times as travelers attempt to make their way through the screening area and to their respective flights on time.

Beloved Restaurant Shibumi Closing Days After Earning Michelin Star
A Japanese restaurant in Los Angeles that just earned a Michelin star in late June, announced it will be closing its doors for good.
"With a heavy heart, I, David Schlosser, announce that Shibumi will close its doors on July 19th 2025. Nine years ago, we embarked on a journey fueled by an outpouring of love, passion, and curiosity from an extraordinary community—our incredible staff, our vibrant guests, the Japanese government, the late Jonathan Gold, and the Michelin Guide," the restaurant announced in a post on Instagram.
The news comes just days after Shibumi boasted about its Michelin star.
"Thank you so much @michelinguide for this immense recognition! We are so proud to have kept this standard for so many years now. This is not possible without the extreme care and mindfulness required from the whole team! In order to keep consistency at such a high level requires sacrifice, grit and a willingness to strive for perfection," the restaurant said in a post.

The restaurant made its debut in Los Angeles in 2015 when Japanese cuisine was reduced to casual sushi and ramen.
"We dared to be different, reviving ancient recipes and time-honored techniques that carried the weight of centuries. In a city that birthed 'fusion' in the 1980s with pioneers like Chaya and Wolfgang Puck, Shibumi stood as a testament to the enduring power of tradition," Shibumi said in its post. "We believed then—and I believe now—that passing down nostalgic, soulful foods to the next generation is what truly matters. Shibumi did just that."
Despite being forced to close its doors, the owner reflected on its success and the strong emotional response from nostalgic cuisine.
"We need to be teaching the value of traditional fare and the old way of eating. The core values of health, respect, and gratitude have to be retaught for our future," the post said, quoting, Yoshihiro Murata of Kyoto’s 3-Michelin-star Kikunoi.

David Corenswet Reveals Deliberate Push to Keep Superman From Feeling 'Boring'
While David Corenswet’s debut in the highly anticipated Superman film isn’t technically slated for release until July 11, some fans and critics were treated to early showings. And regarding the initial returns, it appears that director and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has given many fans what they wanted.
However, the numerous positive reviews that have appeared on social media have also often referenced Corenswet's name. The 32-year-old actor admitted that he took on this role with a focus on not allowing Superman to feel "boring," which he told GQ.
Thankfully, it sounds like Corenswet knocked it out of the park.
One breakdown of Superman that stood out came from Phase Hero's Brandon Davis, who stated Corenswet was "born for Superman."

Kate Green/Getty Images for Warner Bros
"Superman is a triumph for the new DC Universe," Davis said. "It’s a comic book brought to beautiful live-action life, brimming with hope & fulfillment. It actually elicited tears of joy from me."
"It’s a Superman for everyone. David Corenswet was born for Superman & Clark Kent. Loved it."
It's an incredibly impressive review, and it also connects with Corenswet's comments to GQ about showcasing another side of Superman.
“The one way [superheroes] become boring is if you just keep doing the same thing over and over again,” Corenswet said. “And so, just like Chris Nolan took Batman and did something darker and more grounded with the character, Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill explored a side of Superman that hadn’t been explored on the big screen."
"So, all I was saying was they’re doing it so well. Whenever they’re finished, I’d love to see the next one go the other way, and let’s see the other side."
Although moviegoers will, of course, form their own opinion of Superman and Corenswet's portrayal of the superhero, the early returns have the arrow pointing up.
Corenswet's push to give fans a Superman that shows "the other side" is intriguing in itself, but it sounds as though he gave even more than that.

'Unhappiest' Job Sector in America Named in New Study
One industry has taken the crown for the most miserable job sector in the United States, a new study finds.
Known workforce management platform Deputy released its third annual Shift Pulse Report last month, analyzing more than 1.5 million survey results from data collected between April 2024 and April 2025.
The study included a new metric called the Net Happiness Score, which was determined by asking workers to share their personal sentiments about their respective jobs.
Respondents were able to share if they felt "good" or "amazing" about their work or if they were unhappy with their current setup, for one reason or another.
One job sector stood above the rest as the "unhappiest" in America. Results pointed to those working in pharmacies as having the worst Net Happiness Score, with just 13.94 percent of pharmacy workers giving a positive assessment.
The next three on the unhappiest list were those who worked in delivery and postal services, animal health, and medical clinics.
Conversely, the happiest workers were those who worked in tobacco, e-cigarette and marijuana stores. The industry got a phenomenal happiness score of 91.87 percent.
Other job sectors ranking high in the Net Happiness Score were catering businesses, coffee shops and, surprisingly, dental work.
The data also identified the happiest workers by state.
South Carolina, Virginia, and Utah were the top three in that regard. On the other hand, those working in North Dakota, New Mexico and Vermont gave the lowest scores.
However, happiness obviously goes far beyond work and padding one's bank account. Some studies have debunked one huge myth about man's pursuit of happiness.
Tennis Pro Amanda Anisimova's Boyfriend Was on a Popular Reality Show
Amanda Anisimova is one of the few U.S. tennis players still competing in Wimbledon 2025.
Her Instagram page is filled with swimsuit and tennis photos, with no hint of a boyfriend.
According to Essentially Sports, she was dating Tyler Roos, a relationship that started in mid-2020.
Roos has posted photos of Anisimova to his Instagram page, including one that says he taught her all she knows. He hasn't posted about her recently, though, and it's not clear whether they are still together.
In 2020, Yahoo Sports reported that Anisimova was dating Roos, describing him as a model in Melbourne and "the son of AFL legend Paul Roos."
He also was featured on a popular reality television show, The Amazing Race Australia.

In May, the Guardian described how Anisimova took a break from tennis two years before.
“I had done that my whole life – pushing through everything – because I never took any breaks,” Anisimova, who was a teen phenom, told the Guardian. “I felt like it was just unfair for me to keep pushing and pushing as if I’m not a human being.”
She added, “I was just struggling with the lifestyle and just dealing with a lot of stress from it, and it was affecting me a lot on the court."
Anisimova "spent time with friends and family," the article says, making no mention of Roos. In 2024, she was "spotted partying in Miami" after losing at the Australian Open.
She started dating Roos shortly after suffering a major tragedy; her father died of a heart attack at the age of 52. Roos's dad was the Melbourne Demons and Sydney Swans coach and is considered a legend in Australia. He commented positively on a photo of the young couple early on in their relationship, according to Mercury.

World's No. 1 Tennis Player Gives Update on Wimbledon Injury
It's perhaps overshadowed by the pec muscle injury that made his opponent retire mid-match, but Jannik Sinner also suffered an injury while playing at Wimbledon on July 7.
The degree to which is not yet clear. It's also not clear whether the world's top-ranked men's tennis player will be sidelined from future Wimbledon play due to the injury.
Sinner gave an update on the elbow injury during his post-match press conference.
The injury occurred in the first game against Grigor Dimitrov, when Sinner "attempted to reach a deep backhand and subsequently fell to the ground, landing on his extended right arm," according to the ATP Tour. He then took a medical timeout but continued to play.
"It was a quite unfortunate fall," Sinner said. "I checked the videos a little bit, and it didn't seem a tough one, but I still felt it quite a lot, especially serve and forehand. I could feel it. So let's see. Tomorrow we are going to check to see how it is, and then we'll see."
According to the ATP Tour, Sinner will have an MRI to assess the injury's severity, which was not known on the evening of July 7.
Sinner added, "Here they have good ATP physios, in any case. The doctor's good. As I said, tomorrow we are going to check with MRI to see if there's something serious, and then we try to adjust it."
Sinner's injury update comes after his opponent, Grigor Dimitrov, dramatically withdrew mid-match even though he was ahead 2 sets to 0. Dimitrov injured his pectoral muscle after a powerful ace serve. In a heartbreaking sequence of events, he then had to leave the match.
Sinner, who is scheduled to play Ben Shelton on July 9, also spoke about Dimitrov's injury during the press conference.

"He served incredibly well. Very precise, also very fast. Changed up the game very, very well," he said of Dimitrov. "It was a bit breezy, and he used the wind in the best possible way. I could feel that he prepared the match in a very good way, and he executed even better. He was playing some great tennis...I think he's showing his potential. It's very unfortunate, as I said on court. I wish him a speedy recovery."
Sinner said Dimitrov was playing "incredible tennis for two sets. And it's not the way you want to finish a match, no."
Asked about facing Shelton, Sinner said "the return of the serve" is the first thing he will focus on. "He knows how to play on every surface," he added.

With help from actress and social media personality Tabitha Brown, PETA wants one fast food chain to make a major change to its menu. In a video shared to her Instagram account earlier this month, Brown issued a call of action to her millions of followers: request that Domino's offer a vegan cheese option.
"Listen, this is our callout to Domino's. Y'all, give us a vegan cheese please. Some dairy-free cheese. The people are asking. If y'all want to help me encourage Domino's to please have an option for people who cannot eat dairy, which is all of us really, the majority of us, please text them," said Brown her video.

"Mrs Tab, know what she is talking about. Please bring the dairy free cheese to the states too! We want it🔥," someone else chimed in.
Others made note of how much money Domino's is potentially losing by not offering a vegan cheese option to its customers.
"Yall dunno how much money you are missing out on. To be able to order a vegan pizza and have it delivered to our doorstep is something any vegan nationwide would pay top dollar for 😮 issa no brainer 👏🏾," said one person in a comment tagging Domino's.
Domino's has yet to respond to Brown and her fans' request.

Nike Is Selling Its $190 Basketball Shoes for $96 Right Now, and Shoppers Say They Have 'Excellent Cushioning'
Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
They won’t turn you into Kobe at Rucker Park, but the right pair of basketball shoes can make your next pickup game a more comfortable, satisfying experience. Nike, a company that knows a thing or two about basketball shoes, has a solid pair on sale for nearly $100 off, and the word on the street is that the cushion is phenomenal.
Nike G.T. Hustle 3 Basketball Shoes are normally $190, but a couple of different colorways are marked down to just $96, a 49% discount. They’ve earned 32 five-star ratings, and customers say they’re “light and supportive,” provide a “soft landing,” and have a “premium” look and feel. They're available in sizes 3.5 to 13 at this price in white with yellow or an electrifying orange.

The horseshoe-shaped Air Zoom unit in the forefoot of these shoes makes these super responsive, while the multidirectional traction on the rubber outsole makes it easier to stop on a dime, cut, and get separation on the court. The cushioning is also impressive, with double-stacked Air Zoom units and a tall layer of springy, soft foam providing tons of bounce. The radial knit upper and flywire cables make for a secure, comfortable fit.
“These are hands down the best cushioned, most comfortable shoes I’ve ever purchased,” one reviewer wrote. “I’m on the hunt for other pairs of G.T. Hustle 3s as I speak,” they added, in part because “the Zoom units and especially the extra ZoomX insole are killer.”

“If you need excellent cushioning and have low-volume feet, these could be perfect,” another customer advised. They said these shoes offer “incredible” support that lets them “make hard cuts and stops with great stability.” Even when laced tightly, “they are super comfortable with no pinch points.” And when going from one end of the floor to the other, “they have a cushy running shoe feel” but are still “definitely tuned for basketball.”
Beyond lauding the comfort of these shoes, the most common sentiment in the reviews is that sizing up at least a half size is a good idea. And speaking of sizes, several size-color combinations of the Nike G.T. Hustle 3 Basketball Shoes are already sold out, so don’t delay ordering if you could use a super comfortable, super supportive shoe for the next time you hit the court.
Taylor Fritz's Girlfriend Turns Heads With Video at Wimbledon
Earlier this week American tennis star Taylor Fritz took down Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1, but was left apologizing after the match.
“It’s getting pretty annoying having to stop all the time,” Fritz said after requiring two medical stoppages to deal with a bloody elbow during the match. “I feel bad for my opponent when I keep having to stop all the time, but you can only really do it on grass. I’m just really determined to get some of these balls, and eventually I’m going to win one of these points.”
One match later he was left apologizing again - but for a different reason. Fritz's opponent in the fourth round, Jordan Thompson, was forced to withdraw from the match due to injury while trailing 6-1, 3-0 after just 41 minutes of competition.
"It's obviously not the way that I want to go through," Fritz said. "It's just sad. ... Respect to him for coming out. His body's not right." He moves on to the quarterfinals where he'll face off against Karen Khachanov.
As Fritz gets ready for another match, his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle is making headlines off of it with her latest post on social media.
"passing the time before my bfs match by pretending I'm in a wes anderson movie," she said in the caption of the post that was viewed over 500,000 times in just two days.

Fans rushed to the comments section to share their take.
"wait this was perfect," one fan said.
"10/10 no notes … and you look phenomenal 👑," added another.
"Morgan isn’t just a wag, she elevated the game to a whole new level," offered a third.
Riddle made it clear she's not offended by the "WAG" label.
"People think of a WAG as someone who follows their partner around without having their own life,” she said. “Maybe they’re financially dependent on them. I came in swinging, really making my own name in this space, and am trying to actively contribute to the sport. I don’t just take glam pictures of myself. I know for a fact that I have brought a younger demographic to the game, and a younger, female-led audience too. I’ve made it more welcoming for female fans. Having a purpose for everything I’m doing is very important to me."
Fritz will take the court for his match against Khachanov at 8 a.m. ET. It will be broadcast on ESPN.
