Lake Tahoe Visitors Should Travel Cautiously Amid Likely Delays Starting July 13

As part of a continuing Nevada Department of Transportation highway repaving project, motorists should expect some travel delays starting July 13, 2025.

The announcement comes after a busy holiday rush, where construction was temporarily halted to allow for traffic flow. This was especially important for the Fourth of July holiday and the American Century Championship

According to the Nevada DOT:

New Lane Reductions and Shifts."July 13 through July 25: U.S. 50 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between State Route 207 and Elks Point Road from Sundays at 8 p.m. through Fridays at noon. One lane will remain open in each direction, and all lanes will open on weekends.Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph through the work zone.Drivers can anticipate moderate travel delays. While access to businesses and residences will be continuously maintained in most areas, certain side streets and driveways will temporarily be impacted as roadway excavation takes place in the immediate area. Steel plates and earthwork will then be used after excavation to reestablish side street access.Three inches of aging roadway surface will be removed and replaced with new asphalt."What To Expect?"Single lane closures will take place Sundays at 8 p.m. through Fridays at noon on sections of U.S. 50 between Spooner Summit to the Nevada/California border at Stateline. A minimum of one lane in each direction will stay open at all times.Speeds will be reduced to 35mph through work zones. While access to businesses and residences will be continuously maintained in most areas, certain side streets and driveways will temporarily be impacted as roadway excavation takes place in the immediate area. Steel plates and earthwork will then be used after excavation to reestablish side street access.Drivers can anticipate moderate travel delays through the work zone.Lane reductions will not take place during major holidays or special events. The construction schedule is weather permitting and subject to change.Intermittent sidewalk closures will take place in the casino corridor, with pedestrian access remaining available."What's The Project?

NDOT is giving 13 miles of U.S. 50 from Spooner Summit to Stateline a long-overdue facelift to make the drive smoother and safer.

What’s happening:

"New pavement: Crews will mill off 3" of old asphalt and lay fresh pavement the first full resurfacing since 2007.Safer centerline: Twin double-yellow stripes and rumble strips between Spooner Summit and Glenbrook add a 2-ft buffer and audible warning to deter head-on and crossover crashes.Stronger barriers: Worn guardrails are being replaced and some sections upgraded to concrete barriers; asphalt curbs are swapped for tougher concrete to survive snowplows.Fiber-optic upgrade: A new trunk line will boost NDOT’s communications network and prep the corridor for future enhancements. No lane loss: Two lanes stay open each way during and after construction—no turn-lane or intersection changes."

The project serves roughly 26,000 daily drivers and feeds into NDOT’s broader Tahoe East Shore Corridor plan for continued safety and mobility improvements.

Amber Alert Cancelled: Kidnapped Milwaukee Boy Found Safe as Video Emerges

Wisconsin authorities have cancelled an Amber Alert for a 7-year-old Milwaukee, WI, child named Jamal White. They said he was kidnapped at gunpoint and placed into a white Jeep. And now video has emerged from a ring door camera showing the suspect vehicle.

However, at 6:30 p.m. CT on July 12, they issued an update saying that Jamal was found safe.

No further details were provided, but the Amber Alert was cancelled. The Milwaukee Police Department also released an update to its critical missing alert.

"Jamal has a been located and is safe. The Milwaukee Police Department would like to thank everyone for their assistance in this matter," wrote MPD.

"Jamal was outside of his residence in the area of 6200 W. Hustis street when he was taken at gunpoint and placed into a white Jeep renegade SUV," the Wisconsin crime alert, which was emailed out, said originally.

"Anyone coming in contact or information regarding Jamal should call Milwaukee Police District Four Station at 414-935-7242. Child is missing from: Milwaukee, Wisconsin."

A woman wrote on Facebook: "This is our grandson, our hearts are hurting!"

She added, "We are exhausted and haven’t gotten any sleep. We’re still praying and asking the community to join us in prayer and stay alert. Please be on the lookout for this white Jeep Renegade. Every set of eyes helps."

White's aunt told 12 News that "four men, all with guns and wearing face masks, abducted the boy," and she said the father was nearby because "they were coming home from the nearby park."

“My brother was able to pull in the driveway and they jumped out right here,” said Simone White to 12 News. “I’m talking about one person pointing a gun to the window, the other person targeting my nephew. I feel like y’all had enough opportunity to do something to my brother, but he wasn’t the target. It just doesn’t seem like that. My brother wasn’t the target.”

A ring camera video of the vehicle was shared on Facebook.

The suspect was described as wearing a black face masked and hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect was armed with a handgun, the crime alert says.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice also posted the Amber Alert on its website, describing the kidnapper's license plate as unknown.

The motive is not clear. The suspect's identity is not clear, either.

The child was described as being 4 foot tall and weighing 80 pounds.

The alert was issued on July 11.

Karl Urban Sends Message to 'The Boys' Fans Ahead of Final Season

With filming of the final season of The Boys officially wrapped up, it means the farewell messages and goodbyes are underway. While the popular Amazon Prime Video show has taken fans on one of the wildest rides in recent memory, it’ll all come together in Season 5.

Over the first four seasons of The Boys, we've seen the various characters change in many ways while also showcasing more detailed backstories than anyone could have guessed in Season 1.

However, one name that has battled his own demons since Season 1 of The Boys, and is expected to have a few storylines tied up in the final season, is Billy Butcher.

Jack Quaid and Karl Urban speak at 'The Boys' Panel during 2019 Comic-Con International at San Diego Convention Center.

Butcher, played by Karl Urban, and Hughie (Jack Quaid) were the two focal points out of the gate in Season 1. Now, Butcher's disdain for Homelander is arguably the storyline fans are most intrigued by, as it's anyone's guess how it'll play out in Season 5.

While Butcher has walked the line between good and evil throughout the series, he has remained a fan favorite. After wrapping up filming for Season 5 of The Boys, Urban sent a message to the fanbase to return the love.

Investigators Release Cause of Fatal Air India Crash. It's Bizarre

The Air India plane crash was one of the worst air disasters in aviation history. At least 260 people died, including 19 on the ground, although one passenger miraculously survived the wreck.

The plane was captured on video crashing into a building shortly after takeoff. But why?

Now, investigators have come up with a cause for the plane crash, and it's bizarre.

They believe the fuel switches were turned off. According to the Seattle Times, shutting down the fuel switches cut power to the plane's engines.

The plane reached top speed 30 seconds into takeoff.

At that point, “the Engine 1 and Engine 2 fuel cutoff switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another” within a second's time, the report says, according to the Hill.

The Hill noted that it's not clear what made the switches cut off.

The New York Times reported that "seconds after takeoff and moments before an Air India flight crashed last month, the fuel was cut off to both engines."

The Times added that the findings "raised questions about the pilots’ actions and appeared to rule out mechanical failure or design flaws."

The cockpit recording captures a pilot asking another why he cut off the fuel, but he denies doing so, according to The Times.

After being cut off, the switches were turned back on, but it was too late, the Times reported.

There are locks on the switches to prevent them being moved accidentally, the newspaper added.

According to BBC, the report also outlined how, in 2018, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a special bulletin warning that some Boing 737 fuel control switches "were installed with the locking feature disengaged."

That bulletin was advisory, so Air India never performed recommended inspections, BBC Noted.

The switches being turned off abruptly cut off "the plane's thrust at 180 knots," according to BBC.

Other reports say a mechanical issue is still on the table. It remains a mystery whether the switches were flipped due to "human error or a rare mechanical malfunction," BBC reported.

Beloved CNN Commentator's Tragic Cause of Death Revealed

For years, David Gergen was a familiar face on CNN panels, giving commentary about the news of the day.

Before that, he served in the administrations of four presidents.

A CNN spokesperson said in an article for that network that Gergen was “always happy to share his wisdom and his spotlight with others.”

Gergen's family confirmed on July 11 that he has died at the age of 83. What was the cause of death?

He died of Lewy body dementia on July 10 at a retirement home, his son Christopher told the New York Times.

Gergen developed the famous line used by Ronald Reagan in a television commercial, according to the Times: “Are you better off than you were four years ago?”

However, he served in the administrations of presidents from both parties.

“Rhetorical questions have great power,” Gergen explained, according to the Times.

He served many roles for presidents, including as a speech writer and communications director, the Associated Press reported. He served in the administrations of Bill Clinton, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford, as well as Reagan, according to the AP.

The AP reported that the cause of death was a "long illness."

According to the Mayo Clinic, Lewy body dementia, also known as LBD, "is the second most common type of dementia after Alzheimer's disease. Protein deposits called Lewy bodies develop in nerve cells in the brain. The protein deposits affect brain regions involved in thinking, memory and movement. There are two forms of LBD that cause cognitive symptoms — dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson's disease dementia."

Lewy body dementia "causes a decline in mental abilities that gradually gets worse over time. People with LBD might see things that aren't there, known as visual hallucinations. They also may have changes in alertness and attention," the Mayo Clinic wrote.

“A political scholar who served four presidents of both parties, an adoring father and dedicated husband, a senior statesman in every sense of the word, and a tireless educator. But above all else, David was a relentlessly kind and warm person,” the CNN spokesperson said, adding that “our staff, contributors, and audiences are better informed because of his towering influence.”

CBS Quietly Pulled a Major Show From Its Fall Lineup

CBS is making moves behind the scenes, and one of its most talked-about new shows is no longer part of the fall lineup. The highly anticipated FBI spinoff CIA, led by Lucifer star Tom Ellis, has been quietly shifted to midseason 2026.

The decision follows a shakeup at the top, according to Deadline

Warren Leight, known for his run on Law & Order: SVU, has stepped in as the new showrunner, replacing David Hudgins, who previously oversaw FBI: Most Wanted. With Leight’s arrival, CBS appears to be resetting the series creatively before rolling it out to viewers.

Originally slated to debut this fall after new episodes of FBI on Monday nights, CIA was set to follow an unlikely partnership between Ellis’s maverick CIA agent and a by-the-book FBI agent. That premise may now be subject to change as the new leadership gets to work.

Complicating the rollout further, CIA still hasn’t locked in its cast.

Aside from Ellis, no other actors are attached to the project. A planned backdoor pilot intended to air during the most recent season of FBI was scrapped when casting delays slowed down production.

Despite the push, casting is expected to ramp up soon, with CBS eyeing a fall start for production. The hope is that the extra time and leadership change will give the series a stronger foundation before it premieres.

To fill the gap, CBS is bringing back Watson earlier than planned. The Morris Chestnut-led medical drama will now return for season 2 this fall, premiering Oct. 13 in the same Monday night slot originally held for CIA.

For FBI fans, the absence of a second series this fall may feel like a letdown. But with Tom Ellis still on board and a new showrunner with a strong procedural pedigree, CIA may benefit from the delay and show up stronger when it finally premieres in 2026.

Arizona Man, 43, Dies In Freak Hyperbaric Chamber Accident

A late-night session in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber turned fatal for an Arizona man on Wednesday.

At around 10:50 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Fire Department responded to a distress call after a 911 caller reported a burn patient needing emergency medical assistance at Havasu Health and Hyperbarics along Mesquite avenue, per the fire unit's press release

The caller added that the victim, 43-year-old Dr. Walter Foxcroft, was burned while inside a hyperbaric chamber. He was declared dead after first responders arrived at the scene. A flash fire was suspected to be the cause, igniting the oxygen therapy machine with him inside. Foxcroft was the only person hurt in the incident.

Foxcroft owned the facility, which he opened in 2024.

The Lake Havasu resident graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in Physiological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. He later earned his doctorate in physical therapy at Touro University Nevada.

The man endearingly called "Wally" served as Wilbur T. Wildcat, Arizona's mascot, from 2002 to 2005. Arizona Cheerleading has released a statement in honor of Foxcroft.

"Wally was an unforgettable presence on the sidelines—an energetic, charismatic performer known for his signature moonwalk and passion for bringing joy to Arizona fans. He proudly returned for Homecoming, reconnecting with current mascots and sharing his spontaneous spirit as Wilbur with all of us. ... Wally’s dedication to uplifting others—through performance, healing, and innovation—will never be forgotten."

According to the Cleveland Clinic, hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps treat wounds and repair damaged tissue by providing the body with "100% oxygen" inside the enclosed chamber.

It remains unclear why Foxcroft was in the chamber after operating hours. The local authorities are still investigating the matter.

Beloved Disney Sandwich Spot Is Closing Its Doors, But There’s a Twist

Another big change is coming to Downtown Disney, and this time, it’s hitting close to the breadbasket.

Earl of Sandwich Tavern, a fan-favorite for quick, classic bites, is closing its temporary location in Anaheim. But before you panic about losing your favorite meatball sub, there’s a twist: a bigger, better version is on the way.

According to The Orange County Register, the current location, set up inside the former La Brea Bakery space, will shut down for good as Disney makes room for a new Porto’s Bakery & Cafe. The swap will also result in 167 layoffs, beginning July 28 and wrapping up by August 10, according to a WARN letter filed with state officials.

But the sandwich saga isn’t ending here. Disney fans can still grab a bite at the Earl of Sandwich food truck operating on the west end of Downtown Disney, which will continue to serve guests during the transition.

And then comes the real twist: Earl of Sandwich is already building a two-story permanent location near the Downtown Disney performance lawn.

The new spot promises more than just sandwiches. Plans include a quick-service walk-up counter, a full-service sit-down tavern, and an upstairs cocktail bar, offering a major upgrade to what has long been one of Disney’s most underrated food stops.

The original Earl of Sandwich location was demolished back in 2022 as part of a larger redevelopment that also took out the old AMC Theatres and Starbucks West. In its place, Disney is revamping the district with new restaurants, retail, and entertainment concepts.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Porto’s is another big culinary draw. The Cuban-American bakery chain has a cult following across Southern California thanks to its potato balls, cheese rolls, and guava-filled pastries. While construction timelines haven’t been confirmed, expectations are high.

For now, sandwich lovers will have to say goodbye to the temporary tavern. But with a two-story comeback on the horizon, it looks like this fan-favorite isn’t going anywhere. It’s just leveling up.
