Delta Air Lines Makes Major Change Affecting Hundreds of Workers

More than 370 workers will soon find themselves laid off from their current jobs due to a change being made by Delta Air Lines.

On Aug. 5, Unifi Aviation, LLC wrote the state of Georgia's Office of Workforce Development about the layoffs, saying that Delta was terminating its partnership with the contractor. That company is a "ground handling service."

The Delta Airlines Layoffs Are at Atlanta's Airport, But the Workers Will Be Offered New Jobs

The letter says the company "provides commissary services at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport" in Atlanta "under a contract with Delta Air Lines."

Delta "recently notified Unifi that it will no longer need aviation commissary services after the last contracted department on Sept. 30, 2025, and will terminate the aviation commissary services provided by Unifi pursuant to contractual provisions," the letter says.

However, according to WSB-TV, Delta and Unifi both say the workers "will be offered roles with the next company Delta uses or in other roles at the airport."

"This decision will result in the permanent elimination of all of Unifi’s current aviation commissary positions at ATL, effective September 30, 2025," Unifi added in the letter. Delta Air Lines gave the company "short notice," it said in the letter.

Delta Air Lines Explained Why It Is Making the Change

Delta gave a statement to WSB-TV explaining the rationale for the change.

“Delta is transitioning our Atlanta commissary services from Unifi to Newrest and partnering with both organizations to maintain a seamless customer and employee experience," Delta wrote. "While the partner overseeing this work will change, all Unifi employees have been given the opportunity to join the Newrest team.”

Unifi Aviation, LLC filed a worker adjustment and retraining notification with the state of Georgia. It lists the "first date of separation" as Sept. 30, 2025.

The type of layoff or closure is listed as "permanent closure," with 379 employees affected.

Of the affected workers, 111 are assembly agents who "pick and pack" snacks and beverages for planes, according to a document filed by the company.

Another 157 workers are helpers and guides for catering trucks. The remaining workers are commissary supervisors and a business analyst.

United Airlines Makes Major Change at Its Fastest-Growing Hub

United Airlines has made a major change at a key hub.

Denver is the airline's "fastest-growing" hub, according to United.

United announced "the opening of its fourth club at Denver International Airport, a new 33,000 sq.-ft. United Club at Denver International Airport that offers more than 600 seats, a modern Colorado-inspired design, locally-sourced decor and improved amenities that provide an elevated experience," the airline wrote in a news release.

United Airlines Averages 550 Daily Departures in Denver

Denver is an important location for United Airlines.

"Located on the west side of the B Concourse near gate B32, the new club complements the United Club on the east side of the B Concourse, providing two options for customers based on their departure gate," the airline wrote in the news release.

And there are a lot of departures.

"With more than 550 average daily departures, Denver is home to United’s fastest-growing hub," the airline wrote on July 31.

"Since 2021, United has invested nearly $1 billion to further improve the customer experience in Denver, including this club expansion," added United.

"From Denver, United operates to more than 180 destinations across 45 states and 11 countries. This summer, United added Rome, Italy and now has flights to 22 international destinations from Denver – more than any airline in the city’s history," United noted. "United is the only U.S. airline with nonstop service from DEN to Europe and the only airline to fly nonstop to Asia and Hawaii."

Over the last three years, United "has expanded and renovated all of the United Club locations in Denver," the news release says.

“Passengers will love our newest United Club in Denver, giving them more space, premium amenities and a sense of place during their travel journey,” said Aaron McMillan, United’s Managing Director of Hospitality Programs, in the release. “As Denver’s most-flown airline, United’s expansion and renovation of United Club locations are an important part of continuing to improve our customer experience here.”

Grammy-Nominated Artist Breaks His Silence After Canceling Tour

Grammy-nominated singer JP Saxe announced earlier this week that he would be canceling his entire upcoming tour and refunding all tickets, and he's now opened up about why.

JP Saxe, known for his hit song “If the World Was Ending,” warned his fans last month that if he did not sell thousands more tickets to his tour, it would be canceled.

"I'm extremely embarrassed to tell you this, but I'm going to tell you anyway," JP Saxe said in a video posted on Instagram on July 28. "If I don't sell 20-or-so thousand tickets to my tour in the next 48 hours, it's going to be canceled."

Unfortunately for JP Saxe, he did not sell the required tickets, and his tour was indeed canceled. And he's now speaking out about it.

This week, JP Saxe wrote a guest article for Variety where he broke his silence on the decision to cancel his tour as well as his decision to be so open about the struggles his tour was facing.

"Self-image is delicate on a good day, fragile on a bad one. As an artist, your sense of self is tangled up with your 'brand,' and it becomes hard to separate how you’re actually doing from how you’re perceived to be doing," he wrote for Variety.

"And if you’re only as successful as you appear to be, then success starts to depend on your ability to shape perception. In scroll-world — where there’s no time for nuance — the flash becomes the fact. That’s why if a show is over 80 percent sold, you call it sold out. It’s not a lie, it’s marketing. We’ve all seen it work. You create the illusion of buzz, people get curious, the crowd grows — and suddenly the buzz is real."

"That’s the game. If the ship is sinking, you announce you’ve decided to be a submarine," he added.

"Instead, I told everyone the ship was sinking."

JP Saxe explained his decision to be radically honest about his situation.

"I’m scared I’m only ever as successful as I’m perceived to be. That to feel successful, I need to look successful — to my peers, my friends back home, my family, their families…" he wrote. "But how much of that is just… lying?"

Ultimately, JP Saxe was able to sell a few thousand more tickets to his show, but it wasn't enough to save it.

"Even though a few thousand more people showed up in just a few days — which was emotional and the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me on the internet — it still wasn’t enough to save the tour, and I will be humbly refunding every ticket," JP Saxe wrote.

Clearly, however, he learned something from the whole process.

Silas Kruger Falsely Identified as Atlanta CDC Shooter: Reports

A man named Silas Kruger was falsely identified on social media as the CDC shooter in Atlanta.

His name was widely spread on X before his parents stepped in to debunk the reports. A false identification of a suspect in a high-profile active shooting is a fairly common phenomenon. For example, in many active shootings, a man named Sam Hyde is falsely blamed as the gunman. It's even become a known meme.

Silas Kruger's Mother Confirmed That He Is NOT the Emory Gunman, a Report Says

In the case of Silas Kruger, Hindustan Times received an email from his mother debunking the report. Police have not yet named the actual CDC gunman; a police officer from DeKalb, GA, David Rose, 33, lost his life in that shooting. The real gunman is dead, Atlanta police said.

“We have people that have been harassing my son (Silas Kruger) online, but we live in Canada. They have been spreading false information about him online for years,” Kruger's mom wrote in an email to Hindustan Times.

"First off, Silas our son was not involved in anything down in Georgia. The tragedy in Emory University. We are in Canada. Silas was at work all day today. He is surprised as I am," a man says in a video going viral on X.

There’s been a lot of confusion online. Some social media posts have wrongly linked Silas Kruger, an Emory University student, to the recent Emory/CDC shooting incident. This is false.#Emory #Georgia #ATL #SilasKruger #ThinBlueLine pic.twitter.com/rDqEDDZuJ6

— The Exposure (@TheExposureTeam) August 9, 2025

The man said they had dealt with "trolls" in the past due to Discord, and he said that the family was swatted. The man said he contacted the Emory Police Department and made a statement and "now they're opening a case with the federal cyber unit... sorry for all the confusion. This is just out of control."

The director of the CDC confirmed that the shooter (again, who is not Kruger) opened fire on at least four CDC buildings. CNN is reporting that police believe the gunman was motivated by a belief that a COVID-19 vaccine had caused an illness in him.

Grok chatbot even wrote, "The Emory University shooting occurred on Aug 8, 2025, near the CDC, resulting in the shooter's death and one officer injured. Social media identifies the shooter as student Silas Kruger with a COVID vaccine-related motive, but Atlanta police have not confirmed the identity or motive. Official statements indicate the investigation is ongoing, with no details on motive released. Rumors appear unverified."

Nike Drops Powerful New Shedeur Sanders Ad After Stellar Debut

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders no doubt turned some heads with his preseason debut on Friday night and that led to a new advertisement from Nike.

Sanders played most of the game and completed 14-of-23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns to zero picks in the 30-10 Browns win.

He did have some hiccups but was very impressive overall and undoubtedly helped his cause to make Cleveland's roster and possibly make up some ground in the starting quarterback competition.

Following the game, Nike celebrated the impressive performance and the hype surrounding it by dropping a new ad on Instagram.

"When you get your opportunity, create your next one," the post's caption said.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Nike Football (@usnikefootball)

“It’s early, but wow. Actually shocked at how good he looks," an AFC North executive said to NFL insider Jordan Schultz after the first half.

Sanders did most of his damage over the first two quarters, when he completed 11-of-18 passes for 103 yards and the two scores.

Both of his touchdown passes went to wide receiver Kaden Davis, with the second one being particularly impressive after Sanders reset the pocket and fired a dart through a tight window to his target for six.

There’s your wow play from Shedeur Sanders. Nice pocket reset.

Also a plus for his night: One sack. Browns will be pretty pleased with that.

pic.twitter.com/GU4trklCe5

— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) August 9, 2025

Sanders has been with Nike since September of last year when he signed a name, image and likeness (NIL) deal with the company.

The deal went down while Sanders was playing football at Colorado, where he made quite the name for himself before going to the NFL.

Sanders was expected to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in the 2025 NFL draft, but he ultimately landed in the fifth round with the Browns.

The rookie signal-caller is listed as the No. 4 quarterback on the Browns' first unofficial depth chart behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel.

However, he definitely opened the door to improve his positioning in the quarterbacks room after his impressive performance on Friday.

CDC Shooter in Atlanta May Have Blamed COVID-19 Vaccine for Illness: Report

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is calling fallen police officer David Rose a "hero" after a gunman attacked four CDC buildings on Aug. 8.

"We at @CDCgov are heartbroken by today’s attack on our Roybal Campus, which remains on lockdown as authorities investigate the shooting," CDC Director Susan Monarez wrote on X.

CNN is reporting that the shooter "appeared to target CDC headquarters" in the active shooting. The gunman is dead, Atlanta police previously confirmed.

Greg Padrick, the interim chief of the DeKalb Police Department, confirmed in a news conference that the officer had died, saying Rose had "responded to the call as he was trained to do. During that incident, he received gunfire, and he lost his life...He was committed to serving the community."

What Was the Shooter's Motive? Reports Say He May Have Blamed the COVID-19 Vaccine

Officer David Rose, 33,lost his life today responding to the incident at CDC headquarters in GA.

Authorities have not released the shooter's motive. However, the New York Post reported that the shooter "blamed the COVID-19 vaccine for an apparent illness."

According to CNN, police "are operating under the theory that the gunman was either sick or believed that he was sick and blamed the illness on the Covid-19 vaccine."

The Post wrote that "law enforcement sources told CNN the shooter was possibly sick, attributing the supposed ailment to the COVID-19 vaccine," attributing this information to "police interviews with the suspect’s family."

The Gunman Opened Fire on the CDC Buildings, the Director Wrote

Initially, it appeared that the shooting was targeting Emory University. However, Monarez revealed that the gunman opened fire on CDC buildings.

"A courageous local law enforcement officer gave their life, and another was injured, after a gunman opened fire on at least four CDC buildings," she wrote.

The officer has not been named.

— CDC Director Susan Monarez (@CDCMonarez) August 9, 2025

"DeKalb County police, CDC security, and Emory University responded immediately and decisively, helping to prevent further harm to our staff and community. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of everyone at CDC," she wrote.

"We are actively coordinating with federal, state, and local partners to fully investigate the shooter and this tragic crime. We are deeply grateful to Governor Kemp, Georgia residents, and the American people for standing with us during this difficult time."

The shooter's name has not been released.

“Pray for the family, friends, and colleagues of this hero who acted quickly to defend others and made the ultimate sacrifice,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X. “The FBI will offer them our full support.”

The slain police officer had a pregnant wife and two kids, according to CNN.

According to CNN, the shooter had "two hand guns, one rifle and one shotgun" and was wearing a surgical mask.

The gunman was "a known person that may have some interest in certain things that I can’t reiterate right now with any confidence until the investigation is fully conducted," Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said, according to CNN.

Pamela Anderson Described Her Go-to Date Night Outfit Amid Liam Neeson Romance

Pamela Anderson was asked what she likes to wear on date nights amid her burgeoning romance with actor Liam Neeson.

Pamela Anderson Described Her Go-To Date Night Outfit

Glamour magazine asked Anderson to describe her go-to date night outfit.

"Date night? My gosh, date night. I don’t know. Trench coat, nothing underneath but Pandora. Approachable, fun," she said in the Aug. 6 interview.

However, the former Baywatch star stressed that she was kidding.

"No, I’m kidding!" she said.

People previously confirmed through sources that Anderson and Neeson are, in fact, dating. The pair has not directly confirmed this information themselves, although they have acted coy and flirtatious in interviews as they promote their movie, The Naked Gun.

Glamour also asked Anderson to describe her personal style.

"I’m such a visual person. The first thing I think about when I’m playing a role is the look and the style. Part of your work kind of seeps in," she told the magazine.

"I find when you’re preparing for a role, you bring in all this inspiration. You’re trying to get close to the project. And then when you’re in the middle of the movie or something you’re doing—especially in the middle of this Tennessee Williams play I was just doing—you start morphing," Anderson added.

She also revealed that she saw The Naked Gun for the first time with Neeson in an empty theater.

"We had a lot of fun making it, and the snowman stuff was especially ridiculous and out-there," she said in the interview.

The pair play a romantic couple in the movie, which is a comic caper that builds on the original and features Anderson as a femme fatale who interacts with Neeson's Police Squad character. Since that time, they've revealed that she made him bread and cookies on set, and they've discussed their connection in interviews.
