Jim Lovell, Wife Marilyn Were Married 71 Years & Had 4 Kids

Astronaut James "Jim" Lovell was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Lovell.

Theirs was an enduring love match that lasted 71 years, and he once called his spouse the "prettiest girl from Wisconsin."

Jim Lovell died at age 97 on Aug. 8, according to NASA.

He was a "veteran of the Gemini VII, Gemini XII, and Apollo 8 missions before becoming the Mission Commander for the nearly disastrous Apollo 13 mission to the Moon," NASA wrote.

Lovell's wife Marilyn Lovell died in 2023, according to her obituary.

"On June 6, 1952, Marilyn and Jim married immediately following his graduation at St Anne’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, MD. Jim would proudly tell everyone he, 'married the prettiest girl from Wisconsin!'" the obituary says.

Her obit says that Marilyn Lillie Lovell died on Aug. 27, 2023, in Lake Forest, IL, surrounded by her "devoted husband of 71 years and loving family."

Marilyn Lovell "was born on July 11, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of five children. As a precocious little girl, Marilyn could frequently be found in her father’s candy store window eating the chocolate bunny displays!" the obituary says. "She graduated from Juneau High School in Milwaukee where she met her future husband and partner in life, James A Lovell, Jr (Jim)."

"During college, Marilyn transferred from Wisconsin State Teachers College to George Washington University in Washington DC to be closer to Jim while he attended the US Naval Academy," according to the obit.

"Marilyn lived an extraordinary life. She expressed a charming personality, one who welcomed you with a genuine smile and engaging conversation. Marilyn served as the consummate Naval Officer’s wife, and later as an active member of the original Astronaut’s Wives Club promoting her husband’s NASA career and providing support to other astronaut wives," the obituary says.

Deion Sanders Sends Message Amid Shedeur Sanders' Impressive Browns Debut

If any of the Shedeur Sanders critics were busy during the Cleveland Browns’ first preseason game, Deion Sanders made sure they had an idea of what was going on. While Shedeur sent a message of his own in the first half of the game against the Carolina Panthers, he did so with his play on the field.

As for his dad's message? It needed no clarification.

Deion Sanders Reacts to Shedeur Sanders' Impressive Browns Debut

Sanders drew the start for the Browns' first preseason game on Friday, Aug. 8, and it quickly became a memorable debut. Through the first two quarters, the former Colorado Buffaloes star completed 11-of-18 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to wide receiver Kaden Davis.

Not surprisingly, his dad's post on X began lighting up social media.

"Oh yeah what now!" the Colorado head coach said.

Oh yeah what now! #CoachPrime

— COACH PRIME (@DeionSanders) August 9, 2025

Obviously, this was just one start for Sanders, and it was a preseason game, but it's rare to see any rookie step onto an NFL field for the first time and put together a first-half performance as impressive as Shedeur's.

This won't quiet critics, and there's likely nothing that will this season, but at the very least, it's left NFL fans as a whole scratching their heads even more about Sanders' stunning NFL draft fall.

Shedeur Sanders Immediately Proved He Fell Way Too Far in the NFL Draft Quarterback Shedeur Sanders #12 of the Cleveland Browns drops to pass in the first half during the NFL Preseason 2025 game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium.

Sanders' strong debut for the Browns doesn't prove he's bound to be a future Hall of Famer. It doesn't even prove he'll be a starting-caliber NFL quarterback. However, it does show that he deserved to hear his name called long before the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft.

After being projected by some as a first-round draft pick, Sanders sat and watched five other quarterbacks hear their names called before him. That list included his new teammate and former Oregon quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, whom the Browns selected in the third round.

After starring at Jackson State, Sanders joined his father in Boulder, CO, after Deion accepted the Buffaloes' head coaching job. In two seasons with Colorado, Shedeur completed 71.8 percent of his passes for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He tacked on eight rushing scores for good measure.

After a 2024 campaign in which Sanders threw for over 4,000 yards and completed 74.0 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns, it made his draft tumble even more shocking. Now, the Browns' rookie may not say as much, but he looks well-positioned to quiet many critics if he continues to get extended playing time ahead of the regular season.

Major Airline Announces New Ban After Series of Mid-Air Scares

Emirates Airlines became the latest to ban the use of portable chargers after a series of disasters.

"After a comprehensive safety review, Emirates is taking a firm and proactive stance to mitigate risk when it comes to power banks onboard," the airline said in a statement on Friday, August 8. "There has been a significant growth in customers using power banks in recent years, resulting in an increasing number of lithium battery-related incidents onboard flights across the wider aviation industry."

In addition to restricting the use of power banks, Emirates passengers are also only allowed one, and it must be under 100 Wh.

The Dubai-based airline's announcement came on the heels of a mid-air scare about a KLM flight from São Paulo, Brazil, heading for Amsterdam. A power bank caught fire on the transatlantic flight Tuesday night, quickly filling the cabin with smoke.

"Smoke was detected on board due to a burning power bank," the airline announced following the incident. "The crew quickly extinguished the device, following established safety procedures."

The flight was able to continue and land safely in Amsterdam.

A Delta flight in July had a similar fate. After a portable battery, the plane -- which was heading to Fort Lauderdale from Atlanta -- was forced to divert to Fort Myers, Florida.

"We appreciate the quick work and actions by our people to follow their training, and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels," Delta Airlines said in a statement following the blaze.

While all airlines require personal power banks to be kept in cabins, prohibiting them from being in checked bags stowed in cargo, many are cracking down further as the dangers continue.

Southwest Airlines issued a rule in May that portable chargers must be kept visible when in use. Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa and Thai Air are among the growing list of airlines that have implemented restrictions.

AI Company Breaks Its Silence on Delta Air Lines Partnership

Over the past few weeks, Delta Air Lines has been in the headlines after company president Glen Hauenstein announced that the company planned to expand its use of AI in setting its prices. However, both Delta and its AI partner have since pumped the brakes a bit after some concerns.

During an earnings call last month, Hauenstein told reporters that the company plans to expand its use of AI in setting its fares, revealing that about 3 percent of Delta's domestic ticket prices are already set using AI and that the company hopes to expand that to 20 percent by the end of 2025.

Hauenstein also boasted about Delta's partnership with Fetcherr, a tech company that claims to be able to "set the perfect price every time" using AI.

"The convergence of AI, machine learning and real-time data processing completely transforms how airlines approach pricing strategy," a Fetcherr post on dynamic pricing in aviation reads. "Gone are the days of rigid pricing rules and manual adjustments. Welcome to the era of true dynamic pricing, where artificial intelligence can process millions of data points instantly to set the perfect price every time. Welcome to the modern age of AI dynamic pricing."

The announcement quickly made waves, sparking reactions from lawmakers, customers, experts, and even Delta's competitors.

Lawmakers Demand Answers

Shortly after Hauenstein revealed Delta's plan to expand AI, several lawmakers sent a letter to Delta demanding answers about the plan.

"Individualized pricing, or surveillance-based price setting, eliminates a fixed or static price in favor of prices that are tailored to an individual consumer's willingness to pay," the senators wrote to Delta in a letter obtained by Newsweek.

"Delta's current and planned individualized pricing practices not only present data privacy concerns, but will also likely mean fare price increases up to each individual consumer's personal 'pain point' at a time when American families are already struggling with rising costs."

Some of the lawmakers addressed the plan with personal messages of their own, with one Senator calling the move "predatory" and another demanding answers.

American Airlines CEO Does Not Hold Back

While Delta may be moving forward with using AI in its pricing, American Airlines CEO Robert Isom made it clear that his airline will not.

"I don't think it's appropriate," Isom said during American Airlines' earnings call last month.

Isom did not hold back his true thoughts when asked about the changes Delta was employing.

"I quite frankly think that some of the things I've heard are just not good," Isom said.

"Consumers need to know that they can trust American, ok? This is not about bait and switch. This is not about tricking," Isom added. "And certainly, from American, it's not something we will do."

Former FTC Chair Calls Out Delta

During a recent podcast appearance, Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan spoke out about Delta's AI use in setting its fares, calling out Delta a little bit.

"This idea of surveillance pricing, where not only is your data being collected on you, but then it is being used against you to price as much as you will pay," Biden-era Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan told the Chuck ToddCast last week. "So, imagine you had a death in the family, and you got an email notice about where the services are going to be. You go to buy a plane ticket and the airline company knows you are trying to get to a funeral. It's an emergency, and maybe they'll overcharge you, right?"

Delta and Fetcherr Break Their Silence

After all the criticism and commentary, both Delta and Fetcherr have broken their silence on the plan.

Delta responded to the inquiry from lawmakers with a statement claiming that it does not target customers with individualized fares.

“There is no fare product Delta has ever used, is testing or plans to use that targets customers with individualized prices based on personal data,” the company said, via Reuters.

“Furthermore, we have zero tolerance for discriminatory or predatory pricing and fully comply with applicable laws in privacy, pricing and advertising. Our Al-powered pricing functionality is designed to enhance our existing fare pricing processes using aggregated data. This technology is a decision-support tool that simply provides informed insights for our analysts, who oversee and fine-tune the recommendations to ensure they are consistent with our business strategy.”

Following Delta's statement, Fetcherr issued a similar statement.

“Our generative AI system does not and will not use, collect, or receive any personally identifiable information (PII), [and] remains steadfast in our commitment to transparency and to our compliance with applicable regulations,” a spokesperson for Fetcherr said in a statement.

Thanos Actor Josh Brolin on 'Avengers' Return if Asked: I'd 'Be There Tomorrow’

Who's up for the return of Thanos? Josh Brolin certainly is. After playing the character in Guardians of the Galaxy and the recent Avengers movies, including the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame (2019), it marked the end of Thanos' run as the central antagonist.

While it's unlikely, we've certainly seen stranger things happen than Thanos finding his way back for another go-round. If that were to pan out, Brolin left no doubt that he'd be there.

Thanos Actor Josh Brolin Candid Comments on Whether He'd Want to Return

Oftentimes, when actors are asked about reprising a popular role they played, the responses can be along the lines of, "Sure, I'd be open to it."  For Brolin, though, he seems to have loved playing Thanos as much as fans appreciated him in the role.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Brolin joined Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and when the topic came up, he said candidly that if he got the call for Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, he'd "be there tomorrow."

"That was one movie and I've said it...the Thanos thing, if they called me in London right now and said let's do this, I'd be like, 'I'll be there tomorrow,'" Brolin stated.

Horowitz stated that although Thanos ended on such a great note, Brolin seems to have confidence in the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, to hypothetically come up with something that makes sense if he were to ever return.

"Of course they're going to come up with something really fun, I mean who knows?" Brolin replied. "...I don't know what they're going to do, but I'm sure it'll be interesting. I think they do that very, very, very well.

Although Brolin doesn't sound as though he expects to get the call about bringing Thanos back, he certainly made it known that if the opportunity presented itself, he'd happily return.

Josh Brolin on Talking to Robert Downey Jr. And the Russo Brothers

Amid the discussion about Thanos, Horowitz asked whether Brolin stays in touch with Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers, who are directing Avengers: Doomsday.

"[I] talk to Downey probably 4-6 times a year, I talk to the Russos probably 4-6 times a week," Brolin said. "I mean, I talk to Joe a lot...I love them, I love both of them, I think they're amazing."

It's hard not to appreciate Brolin's love of his character in the Marvel universe, and fortunately, he's remained plenty busy since Avengers: Endgame. Most recently, Brolin starred alongside Julia Garner in Weapons, which is now officially in theaters.

The Zach Cregger-directed film continues to earn rave reviews after beginning with a stellar stretch of perfect critic reviews through the first 30-35 on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, Weapons boasts a "certified fresh" label and a 97 percent critics' score based on 156 reviews. The early fan response has also been impressive, checking in at 90 percent with 250-plus reviews.

Hawaiian Airlines Pilots Warn of Future Changes

Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines are in the midst of a merger after Alaska acquired Hawaiian in a deal that was finalized back in September of 2024. However, as the two airlines work out the details of the merger, some Hawaiian Airlines pilots are now warning passengers of what could happen.

Over the years, Hawaiian Airlines has developed a unique, island-based culture that has become beloved by its customers. However, several longtime Hawaiian Airlines pilots seem to be concerned about the future of the airline.

In a recent article published by Beat of Hawaii, which specializes in Hawai'i travel news, the outlet cited several pilots expressing concerns behind the scenes.

One veteran pilot expressed concerns about the speed at which things are changing within Hawaiian Airlines, but it sounds like several more pilots are issuing warnings about some of the changes passengers could feel in the coming months and years after the merger.

"If you’ve flown Hawaiian Airlines for years, as we have, you know the rhythm: widebody planes with crews based in the islands, familiar interisland service, and a flight team that feels closely tied to the state. But that’s what many Hawaiian pilots say is now at risk," Beat of Hawaii wrote this week.

"The tension boils down to two clashing styles: Hawaiian’s island-first model versus Alaska’s mainland efficiency. Hawaiian has continuously operated with in-house flying, dedicated widebody crews, and minimal outsourcing. Alaska, by contrast, relies more heavily on regional contractors and outsourced help to manage many of its shorter routes."

"Some pilots worry that the same model could soon be applied to Hawaii, possibly even including interisland service once the 717 is retired," the outlet continued.

"There’s growing fear that this approach may sideline Hawaii-based crews in the name of flexibility and cost control. As decisions shift to the mainland, pilots based in Hawaii worry some flying may not stay here."

We'll have to see how the merger progresses over the next couple of months, but it's pretty clear that Hawaiian Airlines pilots have concerns about the direction of the airline.

Grammy-nominated Artist Cancels Tour After Clear Warning

Grammy-nominated singer JP Saxe warned fans that his tour was at risk of being canceled, but now he has confirmed that reality.

On July 28, the singer, who became known for his hit song “If the World Was Ending,” warned his fans that if he did not sell thousands more tickets to his tour in the next 48 hours, he was going to be forced to cancel the entire tour.

"I'm extremely embarrassed to tell you this, but I'm going to tell you anyway," JP Saxe said in a video posted on Instagram on July 28. "If I don't sell 20-or-so thousand tickets to my tour in the next 48 hours, it's going to be canceled."

The artist warned fans that if they were waiting until the last minute to buy tickets to his show, that strategy was not going to work because then there "wouldn't be a show to buy tickets to."

"I hold on to a sliver of hope that I will see you in the Fall," he said in the video.

Unfortunately for JP Saxe, he did not see the surge in ticket purchases he was hoping for.

A few days after posting his initial video, JP Saxe took to social media once again to thank everyone who bought tickets to the tour, but he also shared the unfortunate news that it still was not enough to save the tour.

“Over the last few days, we sold a few thousand extra tickets and I am beyond grateful to every one of you who bought one,” Saxe said in the video.

"Those few thousand tickets are a reminder that being transparent in failure sometimes can be more powerful than the facade of success," he continued. "They were a reminder of how wonderful it can be to ask for help and watch a community come together, and this really was the nicest the Internet has ever been to me.

“But what those tickets are not is enough to save this tour,” he said candidly. "I'm really sorry. I'm so sorry."

The good news is that everyone who bought a ticket will get their money back.

"Every ticket purchased will be fully refunded with a side of immense gratitude from a dorky ginger Canadian," he said.

JP Saxe then vowed to make sure this doesn't happen again.

"I'm still a little embarrassed. I'm also feeling a lot of ambition to make sure this never happens again, and just to make the most honest music I possibly can and the squad can grow and we can have these full rooms," he said. "Until then, I love you. And I'm grateful to each one of you who bought a ticket.

"And I'm really sorry."

Travis Kelce Didn’t Make it To His Dad’s Girlfriend’s Funeral, But His Brother Did

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce wasn't able to make it to his dad's girlfriend's funeral, nor was his girlfriend pop-star Taylor Swift.

But his older brother Jason Kelce, as well as wife Kylie, made it to the memorial for Maureen Maguire in support of their father Ed Kelce, TMZ reported.

Travis Kelce was busy at training camp and was unable to attend the Aug. 7, 2025 memorial. He was spotted on the field preparing for the upcoming NFL season, which starts next month.

Jason Kelce retired from his position as center with the Philadelphia Eagles last year.

What We Know About Maureen Maguire

Ed Kelce shared the news of Maguire's death on Facebook Aug. 2, by posting her obituary.

She was born on Nov. 21, 1950 in the Bronx, New York and spent most of her life in  New York City, according to the obituary.

Graduating West Chester University in 1972, she went on to become an elementary school teacher.

Maguire was 74 when she died the day before, surrounded by family and friends.

Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest."

How Maguire and Ed Kelce met remains a mystery.

Maguire's cause of death has not been released.

Ed Kelce in the days after her death shared a photo of himself, Maguire and Swift posing together.

"Maureen was known for her impeccable taste and signature style—wearing tennis skirts religiously despite never playing the game," the obituary noted. Medical Expert Reveals How to Hack Jet Lag

If you've ever traveled through multiple time zones, you've likely experienced the effects of jet lag in at least some capacity. However, one medical expert has issued a warning that jet lag impacts your body in more ways than just making you extra sleepy.

Brunilda Nazario, M.D., WebMD's chief physician editor of medical affairs, recently spoke to Fox News Digital, where she warned about the real risks and health concerns associated with traveling through time zones.

"Jet lag, a very common symptom of longer travel, is much more than just several days of excessive sleepiness or insomnia," Nazario told Fox News Digital.

Nazario explained that jet lag disrupts our internal clock and its relationship with the outside world. Sitting for long periods of time on a plane in a cabin with less than normal oxygen levels and decreased air pressure can contribute to these issues.

"In our external world, the cycle of daylight and darkness helps influence sleep patterns through melatonin," Nazario said.

While jet lag is typically associated with sleepiness or insomnia, Nazario explained that it goes beyond that, as traveling between time zones also impacts your body's natural rhythms.

"Jet lag also affects other circadian rhythms," said Nazario.  "Our internal clock also helps regulate the release of daily or monthly hormones, like growth hormone and hormones of the menstrual cycle."

While jet lag is undeniably frustrating, there are some ways you can hack your way around the impacts.

Nazario suggested adjusting your sleep schedule gradually before a trip to help lessen the impacts of jet lag.

"One common way to help prevent jet lag is to adjust your routine a few days before traveling by advancing or delaying your daily routine, depending on the direction of your travel," she said.

Nazario also suggested taking over-the-counter melatonin to help get your body adjusted to the new time zone when traveling.

"Melatonin has sleep-inducing effects. It's known as the ‘darkness hormone’ because exposure to light shuts it down. Sleep masks can be a simple way to block light," she said.

"The best sleep comes when the timing of your sleep is synced with the release of melatonin," Nazario said. "Melatonin supplements can help reset your body clock."

A little pre-planning could make your next international trip a lot easier.
