Beautiful Island Escapade: On the Hills Of Luxury at Shahzan Villa, Tioman
Once upon a time, I was a novelist. I write novels of romantic nature. Some are of fantasy genre. There are 32 of them in total. But right now, after years of writing novels and creating characters and worlds that I’ll miss by the time I ended the story, I go on hiatus. You can say that I’m having a nasty case of author’s block and I want nothing to do with writing novels anymore. Well, at least not for the moment. I will write stories, yes. But not a full blown 500 pages of novel. It would be too much for me at the moment. You have no idea how it feels like each time you write ‘the end’. Unlike other forms of writing, noveling is different. Each time I write a story, everything it the story feels so real. And crazy as it might sound, sometimes I fall in love with my characters as well and ending a story and saying goodbye can be rather painful and heartbreaking. It is like a huge part of you have died.
Anyway, going on a hiatus does not mean that I don’t miss going on writing retreat in beautiful and inspiring places. I don’t live in the lap of luxury, but I’ve experienced how it is like to stay on the hill of luxury, literally during my recent trip to Tioman Island with my family.
Presenting to you, the magnificent Shahzan Villa in Berjaya Tioman Resort. The luxurious Shahzan Villa is arguably the most expensive villa in Tioman and it nestled majestically on top of a hill in Tioman Island. The villa is equipped with a cable car access to it and it is said to be the favourite lodging choice for the members of Pahang royal family, especially His Majesty the Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang. This place reminds me so much of one of my fantasy novel, ‘ Time Tempest’, where the main character lives in a mansion overlooking the sea.
Seeing Shahzan Villa is like seeing my story coming alive. Nestled on the hill and overlooking the sea, the Chinese believes that this Shahzan Villa have a very good Fengshui and would bring prosperity and good luck to those who stays here. Facing West, Shahzan Villa offers beautiful sunset view and is great for those who wants a secluded, novel- like experience retreat with their loved ones.
Dawn from the balcony of Shahzan Villa. It was a bit gloomy the morning we were there, but the view was still breathtaking with Renggis Island in sight.

Perfect for a romantic interlude, I must say.

Holistic Remedy with The Traditional Malay Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab
If you have been following my Facebook and Instagram, you would notice that my updates are mostly about my travels and my misadventures with my family. They are mostly sunshines and mostly on positive notes, no?
Well, truth be told. While those things are true, and I seems to have fun most of the time, I do have my downtime and sick days. I’m just human, after all. Human will fall sick every now and then. I am not excluded from this. It’s just that I don’t like to share about it on my social media, but this time around, let me share with you my experience being sick, just before my recent trip to Tioman Island. I had terrible high fever with nasty cough and flu with thick phlegm to add to the equation.
What’s worst about this is that I did not recover despite seeing the doctor and countless pills that I popped during my sick period. Western medication did not work that well on me, I suppose. All it did was knocked me out and made me sleepy throughout the day. And so, seeing that I was racing against time to get well quickly before my trip to Tioman, I decided to give traditional remedy a go. I tried some traditional tonics to help reduce my inner body heat and it works magically.
Another traditional medicine that was helpful during my sick period was the traditional Malay Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab. It is a holistic, external application remedy to asthma, joint pains, bloated-ness, fatique, cramps and many more.
In my case, this medicated ointment helps me to breathe better at night upon application on my chest and helps me reduce my nasty headache. My condition improves greatly after using Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab.
This ointment is also useful in helping small wound heals. My husband obtained this little wound during our snorkeling trip and the ointments helps a lot in the healing process.
Here’s sharing how this medicated ointment is used:
– Cough and asthma
Apply generously on the chest and the back, neck and under the chin.
– Flu
Apply a little on the nose
– Fever
Rub a little on the forehead
– Toothache
Apply on the aching tooth and cheek
– Flatulence and constipation
Apply in the abdomen, waist and feet and calf
– Wounds
Apply the ointment on the wound. But do make sure the wound is already dry.
– Venomous stings, bumps, bruises and sore muscles
Apply on affected areas
– Migraine
Apply on the forehead and neck
– Low back pain and muscle aches
Apply ointment on places that aches
– Diarrhea
Apply at the lower abdomen.
– Menstrual pain
Apply on the lower abdomen
Overall we are happy with Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab, but notices that there are a lot of fakes in the market due to its high demand, especially in Malaysia and the Singapore.
Here’s some tips on how to know whether it is fake or genuine:
-Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab are 100% processed and “HOME MADE” by an elderly man.
– Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab are never developed by any companies.
– Non processed or produced in any factories.
– Herbs and ingredients used are secret recipe handed down from one generation to another.
– Not be processed under any companies.
– Minyak Herba Asma Mujarab has thousands of testimonials online.
Difference between fakes and genuine product:
The fakes uses red bottle seal while the original uses green.

A Feast Fit for an Emperor at The Chinese Restaurant, Berjaya Waterfront Johor Bharu
9 course Chinese sit down dinner usually bores me to death, especially if it is at a traditional Chinese wedding reception or some special Chinese celebratory occasion. It consumes way too much time and the sequence of food is always the same and the food is always normal and boring.
I was pretty much beat up and exhausted. I wasn’t very interested in food when we arrived in Berjaya Waterfront Johor Bharu. But the food presented to us managed to catch my interest.
Here’s sharing what we had:
4 Seasons Combinations. The presentation of this dish is pretty much unique, with animal themes and dry ice making it look mysterious upon arrival to the table. Tastewise, the food was quite okay, though I think the rabbit dumplings could taste better with thinner skin. It was too floury to my liking.
Crab Meat with Dry Scallops Fish Maw Soup was thick and rich. There was no undesirable fishy smell that could turn me off and I had two helpings of it.
2 Varieties Chicken. Served in a cute edible basket, this two varieties of chicken is topped with a variety of citrusy fruits and sourish dressings. Quite an addictive dish, I must say.
Steamed Tiger Garoupa Hong Kong Style. The fish was steamed to perfection and was done in the tradituonal soya sauce and ginger combination. The fish was fresh and the meat was not onlh firm but smooth as well with plenty of natural collagen jellies in it. This dish taste and texture wasn’t as complicated as the chicken dish and this dish was gone within minutes.
Baked Prawn Macau Style was fantastic. The fresh prawn were topped with cheese and were baked to perfection. A garden of fresh salad were served on the side to complement the prawn.
Braised Brocolli& Cauliflower with Bai Ling Mushrooms was all right. Nothing to complain and nothing to shout about. There was nothing extraordinary about but those who likes greens would appreciate the crunchy brocolli florets.
Sambal Fried Rice was surprisingly sensational. This may looks like your regular homecooked fried rice but the taste was out of this world. The rice was not only fragrant and aromatic but was bursting with flavours as well.
Homemade Jackfruit Ice Cream andDeep-fried Salted Egg Sesame Balls The jackfruit ice cream was too sweet for me. But that’s just me. I don’t have sweet tooth and I fancy savoury food much more than sweet food, so my husband and son enjoyed this much more than I do but the Deep-fried Salted Egg Sesame Balls was all right. The salted egg filling was custardy and quite comforting on the palate and I enjoyed it very much.
Let me be honest with you. I’m a fussy eater. And I’m not easily impressed with food, but the 9 course meal that I managed to sample during at The Chinese Restaurant, Berjaya Waterfront Johor Bharu during our way back from Tioman to Kuala Lumpur was not too shabby and it was quite an enjoyable experience.
This 9 course meal is said to worth RM1,000 per table but for a better idea on the course meal package that the restaurant is offering, please refer to the information below for further enquiries:

Beautiful Island Escapade: Glass Bottom Boat Ride in Tioman
After our snorkeling and kayak-ing session in Renggis Island, Tioman, my family and I embarked on a yet another fun adventure before returning to our chalet in Berjaya Tioman Resort.
We hopped onto a Glass Bottom boat and cruise around in Renggis Island towards the sunset.
The Glass Bottom boat is usually used to cater to people who wants to see what the underwater world has to offer but does not want to get wet.
The see-thru glass. It is blurrish for awhile but we get better visibility afterwards.
And here’s what we managed to see during our short trip to the sea. The Glass Bottom Boat showcases the marine life that naturally inhabits Tioman. Colourful fishes and corals can be seen clearly through the looking glass.
Apart of of the marine life, we also get to see beautiful Renggis Island closely.
And was treated to a beautiful sunset
Beautiful underwater view in Renggis
Here’s a video of our Glass Bottom boat ride.
Seasports like snorkeling, diving and kayak-ing in Tioman Island can be a little daunting for travelers who are not really adventurous or with little children in tow and therefore I highly recommend the Glass Bottom Boat ride to those who wants to enjoy a leisurely cruise with a beautiful view in Tioman.
