Fattoush

image

I went to my regular Arabic restaurant Wadi al-nile again. while waiting for my son to finish his class again the other day. Was kinda bored with their rice selection and thought I’d try something else instead. And since I don’t feel like I wanna have their super sweet baklava or their puddings, I opt for fattoush instead.

Fattoush is a variety of Levantine bread salad served with cucumber, iced lettuce, tomatoes and fried pita bread.

Kinda nice. I love the salad dressing. Made from a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice and coarse black pepper.

Quite a refreshing change from my usual fare of Mandy rice or Kabsah chicken rice.

Earn money by reading

Some enviromentalists may tell you that reading is not very eco-friendly as books are printed on paper that’s made from trees. But I beg to differ. That sort of opinion is rather shallow.

Not all books are made of trees that has been chopped down. Most books are printed on recycled paper.Ebooks are also in trend these days, and therefore, it’s pretty eco-friendly and economical, I assure you.

Some people may tell you that reading is actually a waste of time and you can do other beneficial things…like walk the dog…gardening, crafting, painting…rather than putting nonsensical stories in your head, but I beg to differ. Reading can not only enrich and widen your knowledge, but can also help you earn some cash.

Yes, you’re reading that right. You can earn money just by reading and rating article. Wanna know how?

Bookworms birthday party

I could never be a food blogger. I have the tendency to think with my stomach rather than my camera whenever I see good food. And I tend to get distracted by yakking non-stop with my friends at gatherings. On top of that, I don’t bother to remember restaurant’s name and the dishes served before me. Do I need to mention that my photography skill is horrible as well?

Food blogger I’m not. But I do enjoy good food with good companions. And last Friday, I did just that. It’s April again. Two of my blogger friends, Mamarazzi and Mommyling were born in this month. And so, we decided to celebrate Mamarazzi and Mommyling’s birthday. It was really a happy occasion.

The whole bookworm gang was there. Littlemermy and kids, Littlesprouts’s family, Mommyling, and of course, Smallkucing and his family were there too. We went to a restaurant somewhere in Sungai Buloh to stuff our faces.

So…what did we had? Oh yea…we had these…

image

Super spicy fish curry with tofu pok and assorted veggies.

image

Buttered squid…lol…I know they ordered this for my benefit…lol…*blush blush*.

image

Claypot tofu for the kids and those who can’t eat spicy food.

image

Lemon chicken. Sorry for the awful presentation…it’s not the restaurant’s fault, I assure you. I only remembered to take the picture when we’re half way munching on these. Yeah… i always blame my stomach for my…forgetfulness.

image

Yummylicious fried kangkung fried in belacan. Loved this one to bits. But the portion was really large. We couldn’t finish this.

image

Claypot Lou Shu Fen. Literally translated as mouse tail Noodle? LOL. I have no idea why it’s called mouse tail noodles. Please don’t ask me why. Huge portion, and the mousies had to follow one of us home too. I couldn’t remember who, though. LOL!

image

Salted egg crabs. Meaty with loads of roe. The portion was really huge. We couldn’t finish it, and the crabs had to follow Mamarazzi and Smallkucing to their house so that they can be safely tucked into their tummy later. LOL!

image

Smallkucing and birthday girl Mamarazzi, smiling from ear to ear. They look really happy, don’t they?

image

Another birthday girl, Mommyling and her sweet little girl, Little E.

image

They really can’t stop smiling. And for a very good reason too.

image

These are the reasons…the many birthday cakes…. There was homemade chocolate fondant and tiramisu cupcake, courtesy of Littlemermy and Mamasprouts. Better than the ones bought in the bakeries, and the ladybirds flew into the kids’ mouth as soon as the candles were blown out. :P

:D I didn’t manage to get Littlesprouts’s family’s picture, though. I was too busy enjoying the good food. (Ahemm… can any of you ladies let me harvest the pic from FB, please?)

image

Steamed cake made by Mamarazzi and Smallkucing for me to take home. *blush blush* Mamarazzi knew that I had the tendency of being hungry a few hours after eating, hence, she often give me some food to bring back each time we eat together.

image

Bread pudding made by Mommyling for us to take home. This one is to die for. Love it very much!

There’s not only cakes and puddings for us to bring home after our little party. Mamarazzi gave me some books she managed to snatch up for me during her fortnightly excursion to the Subang Jaya Book Exchange Program.

Knowing that I couldn’t go to those book exchange session because I’m always hooked with classes on Sundays, she grabbed some books that she thinks that I will like. I was really touched. Mamarazzi was so kind that she kept me in her thoughts wherever she goes.

image

Fantasy books…given to me by Mamarazzi

image

Romanc, my favourite genreimage

And more romance…borrowed from Mamasprout*blush*. My friends really knows me well.

image

Fictionimage

And more fiction for me to indulge myself with.

Who can complain when there’s good friend, good food, and good books? I certainly can’t. I enjoyed my time with the ladies and the kids immensely.

Cleffairy: Thank you for the lovely evening, ladies. :D

Just get rid of them!

Letting go and giving up can’t always be a bad thing, especially whenever parasites of a friend is concerned. No point getting sentimental over such relationship, especially when people do not have the same sentiment about it as you do. What good does it give you in the end of the day? Only troubles, and more troubles. Such friends are like stinking rubbish in your home. The longer you keep them around, the stinkier your house would smell!

I would give up a friend who knows nothing but parasite around and trying to take advantage of me in every single way they can instead of keeping a good relationship with them.

It’s a complete waste of time cuz they expects so much of you and yet don’t even have an ounce of respect towards you and your entire family. Why should you keep such people in your life? Life is too short to waste on such nuisance.

I’ve met and seen people who orders their friends about and have no respect whatsoever towards people around them. And just because they are a so and so in their own circle, they expects everyone to give them some degree of respect.

Such swine should really be put to sleep, in my opinion. They are good for nothing but bloodsucking and behaving like someone who lacks paternal knowledge.

I have no qualms getting rid or such obnoxious creature. Wonder why some people are naive enough to let themselves be used to the point the public would label them unhelpful and uncooperative whenever they declined those swine’s request to use them.

Cleffairy: Thank God most of my personal friends befriended me because they just want to be my friend and not because they think I could be useful for whatever conniving plans they have in mind.

Pests are not pets

Pests. What do you think of them? Oh, you know, disgusting creatures like insects, rodents and whatnot? I hate pests. Hate is an understatement. I loathe pests, actually, even though I have some soft spots for animals in my heart.

I don't know what went wrong, but recently I discovered that some of my books and some of the furnitures are being destroyed by pests. I can't be sure what it is. Is it termites? Roaches? I have no idea…but there are tiny holes everywhere, evidently being eaten by unidentified insects. I couldn't find the source, but I have taken the initiative to get rid of whatever pests there is by using insecticides.

There are no evidence of any pests, though. So far I have yet to see the remains of termites or roaches anywhere after using the insecticide. :-( And yet the destruction continues.

This is really upsetting and very annoying. Not sure what to do to stop those unseen enemies from destroying my things and my furnitures. Should I call pest control when I don't even know where those pests are? I heard pest control can be quite costly. Would they be able to trace those rotten pests for me? I wouldn't want to waste unnecessary time and money by calling pest control. And besides, I have a young child and a precious pet at home, so I am not really sure if I'm comfortable using excessive chemical that could actually bring them harm at home if not monitored properly. :(

Any suggestion on what should I do? Any natural remedies you guys can share with me? :( I'm really sick and tired of using those sprays and having to mop and clean up those things with dettol and stuff because I'm afraid that my boy and my cat will get poisoned by the residues.

Cleffairy: Expensive lesson learned. As soon as you identify any pests, just kill them. One should never have any mercy towards pests. They are destructive and you should always get rid of them at first glance or they will breed trouble for you and your entire household.

Getting Intimate With Your Pelvic Floor Muscle: Introducing Vibrance Kegel Device

image

So, okay. Most of you ladies guessed correctly on what device is this. You are right.

image

It's Vibrance Kegel device. This device is used in a medically invasive way to help the user to excercise their pelvic floor muscle. It is not a device used for intimate purpose like one of my reader have guessed. :-D This may sound politically correct, but this thing really looks like a vibrator, sounds like a vibrator, but not a vibrator. :P

Since there are many who guessed correctly and many have given up the voucher and asked me to give to others who have guessed correctly, I'll just give the voucher to the first commenter who got it right. The first commenter who got it right is Kopi. So, my dear friend Kopi, please email me your mailing address so that I can send the voucher along with a small token of appreciation from me.

Hmm, now that we have the giveaway part settled, please allow me to tell you how I managed to get my hands on the device.

Last week, I was invited for a media engagement session by Rougue Communications on the behalf of Bioinfinity, the company who produced this device.

image

I managed to arrive on time and the first thing that I did was head over to the registration counter.

image

And I was given one of these goodie bags.

image

Each attendees and the members of the media received a set of Vibrance Kegel Device worth Rm500.

image

Along with a tube of the device's lubricant and cleanser.

image

I was really anxious to listen to the talk…or rather, an informal workshop for bloggers and the members of the media.

image

When I went into the conference room, there was nobody there yet, save a few, that is. Three invited speakers were already there, and I managed to chit chat with them for awhile before the talks actually started.

image

Anyway, the room started to fill up with bloggers and participants alike.

image

And after warming up to each other, we're divided into groups for activity purposes. My group consists of 5 chirpy, cheeky bloggers. We were told to name our group and we named it 'The Shakers' before we proceed to listen to the talk about getting 'intimate' with your pelvic floor muscle begins.

The talk by physiotherapist Ms. Suhaila from HUKM mainly emphasizes pretty much on the importance on how important it is for a woman to take very good care of her pelvic muscle. You see, the daily events in a woman's life can weaken pelvic floor muscle. Pelvic floor mucle is usually weakened because:

Pregnancy
Childbirth
Aging
Obesity
Menapause
Chronic cough
Genetic disorder

During the talk, us ladies are encouraged to perform the Kegel exercise regularly in order to maintain healthy pelvic floor muscle. Kegel exercise (named after Dr. Arnold Kegel), consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. We are encouraged to perform it regularly to strengthened the pelvic floor muscle because weak pelvic floor muscle can cause:

Involuntary loss of urine during physical acitivities, such as coughing, laughing, sneezing or exercising.
Sudden urge or need to urinate due to bladder spasms or contractions.
Difficulties in achieving orgasms during sexual intercourse.

We were told that there's loads of benefit that you can reap if you perform Kegel exercise regularly and correctly. Among them are:

Strengthening of pelvic floor muscle.
Increase of blood flow and nerve supply to the pelvic region
Restroration of vaginal muscle tone and improve vaginal health
Increase thickness to the vaginal wall and lubrication after menapause
Prevention and treatment for urinary stres incontinence
Helps new mothers to recover from physical stress of childbirth
Improve sexual response and function.

It is stressed that having strong pelvic floor muscle is very important for women. It not only ensures a woman can safely carry a baby during pregnancy, but it also ensures smooth and safe vaginal delivery.

Having strong pelvic muscle will also help women in their menapausal age as well as it will help avoid incontinence, organ prolapse and sexual dysfunction. Urinary incontinence is basically involuntary loss of urine. Which means, you are unable to control your urge to pee and you ends up wetting yourself. Studies shown that this happens in every one of three mothers and it terribly impact a woman's life. Many ended up having low self esteem because of this.

It is also highlighted that with strong pelvic floor muscle, sexual health will also improved. Women with strong pelvic floor muscle will find that sexual intercourse with their partner is much more enjoyable. Women who perform Kegel exercises regularly will find that sexual satisfaction is easier to achieve. This is because pelvic floor muscle are actually the muscle that's surrounding the vagina opening and contract rhtyhamically during orgasms. In other words, having stronger pelvic floor muscle translate to better control over orgasm and the possibility of multiple orgasms is higher.

Interesting, isn't it? Well, it gets more and more interesting. After about 1 hour of talk and  on the importance of taking good care of your perlvic floor muscle and the importance of Kegel exercise by both physiotheraphist  and the user of Vibrance Kegel Device, we were ushered to the gym and were shown how to perform Kegel exercise correctly

image

Bloggers trying to to do the exercise right. :D But it's not an easy feat, I tell you. i was practically struggling to do it right.

image

One of the many positions of Kegel exercise- sitting position

image

Umm… I forgot what position is this, but it's one of the challenging ones apart from trying to squeeze the pelvic floor muscle in the squatting position.

image

The physiotherapist assisting one of the participants during the Kegel exercise demonstration.

Tsk… by the time we're done with demonstration session, I got all breathless and got all the wrong muscle stretch! :( I couldn't get it right, I think, cuz I feel my body aching all over. My hand, my legs, my arms. Oh, my God! I cannot imagine performing Kegel exercide on my own without help.

Thank God there's the device for me to use instead! The Vibrance Kegel Device is an innovative, state of the art device, and is the most effective device to support Kegel exercise. You see, not all women is able to gauge the correct muscle. Most are like me, ending up exercising other muscle instead of the pelvic muscle.

I was informed that by using the device, I'll be able to experience gentle vibration biofeedback that produces a positive stimulation to all the corrrect muscle if I were to insert the device correctly into my ahem… body. I was told that through continuos usage of this device, I'll be able to strengthened my pelvic floor muscle. This device is invasive in nature, though. Those who are not sexually active, still a virgin or pregnant are not encouraged to use this device unless their doctor stated otherwise.

Hmm…whether or not it's effective… I can't really say. Not yet, at least. I'll tell you guys one month later whether or not this device if effective or not-after I use it regularly to help me do Kegel exercise. :D I can't possibly review it without using it now, can I? Let me use it and experiment with it first and I'll tell you how it works and whether or not it benefits me. I'll tell you in details. I promise. :D

Anyway, it's been a wonderful experience to be able to attend this talk/informal workshop. It's been a wonderful journey of self education and awareness. I had so much fun. Do stay tune for my testimonial on the Vibrance Kegel Device. :D

Cleffairy: *sigh* And as an answer to my husband's curious question: No, Sweetheart, it's not a vibrator. And no… the company doesn't produce sex toys. You got to buy them somewhere else, I'm afraid. LOL!
