Hyundai Celebrates all things EURO in Sutera Gemilang Auto
Hyundai celebrates all things football with their EURO tour last week, a couple of days before the EURO Cup’s final match between Italy and Spain. The celebration was held at one of their newly opened Hyundai 3S centre, (Service, Spare Parts and Sales for Hyundai and Inocom automobiles) Sutera Gemilang Auto Sdn Bhd.
The public and media alike were invited to sign their names on a giant football during the event
And were encouraged to participate in a virtual football shoot-out game
In this football shoot-out game, participants must try to shoot as many goals as possible in a given time and the one with the highest score wins an iPhone. I did not win the iPhone, of course. My score was terrible in comparison to the guy who won. My score was only 32 goals while the other guys scored 120+ goals! Crazy feller. I wonder how he managed that! Must be a football or futsal player. Either that or her’s a hardcore virtual gamer!
Apart from the exciting game, complimentary limited edition football jerseys were also given out to the lucky few. More than 100 visitors redeemed the jersey at Sutera Gemilang Auto during the event that day.
Sutera Gemilang Auto service centre is really a cool place to service your car.
Now, I don’t make it a habit to say nice things about car workshop or service centre because they are just full of grease and grime and is usually uncomfortable to be in, but Sutera Gemilang Auto service centre is probably one place you want to be while you’re servicing your car.
The place is not only spacious…
But very chic and comfortable too. This place has 9 service bays and can service up to 32 vehicles a day. There’s also a Quick Service and 24-Hour Key Drop facility where you can drop off your cars during off working hours for service or repair.
Bored waiting in the service centre and wanna stretch your feet a little bit or wanna grab a bite? No worries, there is a free hourly shuttle service to Citta Mall and anywhere within 15 km radius.
This service centre is fully conditioned and equipped with home theatre system and free WIFI. Whenever you go to this place to service your car or repair your car, you will not only be able to online and do your work, but you can watch a movie or two too while waiting for your car to be serviced. Pretty cool, right? Yes… it’s pretty cool to me, especially if you get to have some free cuppa tea, coffee or hot chocolate straight from the dispenser while you’re at it.
Apart from being adult friendly, Sutera Gemilang Auto is children friendly too. There’s a mini indoor playground for young children to amuse themselves with whenever they follow their parents to service or repair their vehicle. Sutera Gemilang Auto is certainly an ideal place for parents who are constantly in a rush and have no other time to spare and could only bring their cars to service on weekends or public holidays. It’s a really great thing to be able to service your car without having to sacrifice family time, I must say.
If you want to service your car, you might want to consider this place. Below is the information on Sutera Gemilang Auto, in case you’re interested to service or repair your car there.

A sad farewell to Script Frenzy
I wasn’t really sure if I want to write about this, but I suppose I cannot keep it to myself any longer. It’s really hard for me to swallow all by myself. I know most of you wouldn’t be able to understand what I’m talking about, but please bear with me. I just need to let this out.
You see, it has come to my attention a couple of days ago that a writing program that I have been involved in for years will be finally shut down indefinitely after the new management took over the Non-Profit Organization that is hosting this writing program. Apparently, they have decided that the program in question is unsustainable and they do not have enough monetary resources to keep it alive.
This news is really something unexpected among us who belongs to this writing community where the program in question has been thriving in inspiring people to write scripts for 30 days consecutively in April every year despite the lack of funds. At some point, I wondered why terminate the program now, and not a couple of years before?
It’s a really shocking news to me as I’ve been working for years as a regional Municipal Liason in bringing the script writing to the next level, and suddenly, wham… I was told that the program will be shut down indefinitely in favour of other programs that’s deemed more important in comparison to this one. I feel as if all of my effort all these years have been all for naught, and I have no means to keep encouraging and inspiring people to write scripts anymore.
Sure, the program does not have much participant in comparison to other writing programs under this organization, but I believe that a lot of people, especially young people and students have benefited from this program greatly. Not many could find the structure and the resources that they need when it comes to script writing for free, and this particular program has provided so much of that. It’s really a shame that it has to be shut down, really.
It has been a great five years, and I was really hoping that there’s more to come, but now…I have to say goodbye to a wonderful program that has thought me so many important lesson in life and brought so many aspiring script writers together every year.
Goodbye, Script Frenzy. You will be missed.
Cleffairy: Right at the moment, all I can do is just say goodbye to this great writing platform and pray that other programs under this Non-Profit Organization will not not terminated in the same way any time soon.

A Secret Disgrace
Title: A Secret Disgrace
Publisher:Harlequin
Imprint: Harlequin Presents
Pub Date: June 05, 2012
ISBN:9780373130719
Author: Penny Jordan
I’ve been a fan of Penny Jordan’s work for quite some time now, and I usually adore her masterpiece. But this one in particular is quite a disappointment, I have to say. Frankly speaking, the pace is way too slow and the plot is too predictable. The only saving grace for this novel is the steamy scenes between the hero and the heroine. I was expecting more from Ms. Jordan, but it seems that this particular work os hers simply does not click with me.
I will only recommend this to those who prefers a leisurely pace and for those who are looking for books that they could pass a rainy day with.
I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin Publisher via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book and I was not compensated in any ways for this.
Book description:
A shocking Sicilian secret… Louise Anderson’s heart pounds as she approaches the imposing castello. Only the Duke of Falconari can grant her grandparents’ dying wish-but this is the same man who said arrivederci without a backward glance after their night of unadulterated passion…. Caesar can’t believe the woman who almost ruined his precious reputation still fiercely fires his blood. Discovering that their union created more than just salacious memories, he agrees to grant Louise’s request…in exchange for a demand of his own. That she wears his band of gold!
Cleffairy: This is Penny Jordan’s last book. She died because of breast cancer on 31 December 2011.I really wished I could say something nice about this book, but I know that the late Ms. Jordan would prefer honest opinions on her works. She always prefers honest opinion. RIP, Penny. You will be missed.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
I went for a movie date with my husband the other day to watch the newly released ‘Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter’. Tickets courtesy of a blogger friend, Bro Framestone and myiMart. It was quite an interesting take on a paranormal thriller genre, I must say.
I’ll be honest with you. I was kinda wary of the vampire theme. Everything seems to be revolving around vampires these days…and now they’re making the former president of United States of America a vampire slayer? Umm… made me wonder what’s next? Hollywood comes out with the most funny things, and at some point, I wondered if they’ll be making the Obama’s family into a clan of werewolves.
Okay, enough of musing. Let’s get back to the movie, shall we? The movie is quite interesting but not suitable for children to watch, of course, as there are plenty of sexual reference as well loads of violence in it. When I say violence, I mean VIOLENCE as in real violence. Not just punching someone in the face, but there’s plenty of heads sent rolling in this movie. With the plain good old axe, no less. The vampires in this movie is just plain badass. They are vicious and destructive creature hence, their heads needs to be chopped off from their shoulder for a greater good. (Oh… the vampires in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter don’t sparkle under the sun…in case you’re wondering.
)
If you want children to tag along with you to watch a vampire movie, I’d suggest you go for the Twilight Saga instead of this one. There’s no ‘off with the heads’ scene in Twilight, I assure you.
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter blends paranormal occurrence and history pretty well. There’s plenty of Abraham Lincoln’s famous quotes, biblical and historical reference included in the movie as well. It’s an okay movie to watch if you’re looking forward to pass your time, but at some point it’s just plain ridiculous to think of Abraham Lincoln as a vampire slayer or a vampire hunter. The scenes in the movie is quite vivid, and the language used for that era was pretty much believable.
The movie has good CG, and it’s not for the faint hearted, definitely. A good watch if you’re the sort of person who goes for pure fantasy and won rationalize the whole thing.
I would rate this movie 3 out of 5 stars for the action and thrilling effects, and recommends this to whoever that’s having bad day with their bosses and whatnot. Good way to de-stress if you started to imagine that those vampires heads that rolls is actually those people who irritates and annoys you in real life
Here’s the trailer for this movie:
And in case you’re interested to read the book before watching the movie, here’s sharing the novel’s description: Yes, it’s adapted from a novel, so be sure to check it out too. It’s way better than the movie, in my humble opinion.
Hardcover, First, 336 pages
Published: March 2nd 2010
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
ISBN 0446563080 (ISBN13: 9780446563086)
Author: Seth Grahame-Smith
Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother’s bedside. She’s been stricken with something the old-timers call “Milk Sickness.”
“My baby boy…” she whispers before dying.
Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother’s fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.
When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, “henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…” Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.
While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.
Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation.

Midnight Walking Book Launch & Review
As an author myself, I always find it exciting whenever I’m given a chance to attend a book launch. It never failed to give me great insight about what’s going on with the local book industry.
It’s been awhile since I last attended a book launching ceremony or a meet and greet session. The last meet and greet session was invited to was Shamini Flint’s meet and greet session in Kinokuniya. You can read it HERE, in case you’re interested to get to know who Shamini Flint is. She authored plenty of interesting mystery books, and it’s not to be missed!
And the last book launching that I attended was earlier this year. It was a book launching for a book compilation known as Kopi, where my friend Zara is one of the co-authors.
Anyway, as I said, it’s been a while since I was invited for a book launching and a meet and greet session, so I got really hyped up when I was invited to attend the launching of Midnight Walking written by Kathryn Chua last weekend.
Here’s the author of Midnight Walking, Kathryn Chua. She was potted chilling out with her parents, Datin and Datuk Chua while waiting for the event to commence.
Kathryn’s adoring fans were also there to give her support and they were given the opportunity to take photos with her before the book launching.
The book launching was held at Kinokuniya Bookstore Cafe in Suria KLCC and the whole event was sponsored by CIMB Bank on the behalf of their YOUth program in effort of spreading reading awareness to young Malaysian youth and was launched by Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak.
Here’s Kathryn Chua and Peter England, CIMB Head of Retail Financial Services, talking about both Midnight Walking and CIMB’s future plans in expanding the YOUth program.
Frankly speaking, I was a little bit disappointed with the mainstream media that day during Midnight Walking’s press conference. Most are more interested in CIMB’s future plans and the business connection that Kathryn’s parents has with CIMB instead of focusing on the star attraction of the day, which is the book itself. I thought that was rather rude, obnoxious and disrespectful towards the author. Only a few asked questions that’s really related to Kathryn and her journey in completing the book.
I guess mainstream media will always be interested in such things instead of focusing on things that really matters. I don’t know how many members of the media actually read her book after the book launching, but I’ve read it, and here’s my review on the book:
Publisher: Blacksmith Books
ISBN: 9789881900
Page count: 222
Author: Kathryn Chua
List price: Rm29.90
First of all, I have to say that I’m really surprised that this book was written in third-party point of view. Most YA books are written in first party point of view, so I guess this is quite refreshing, reading from third-party point of view instead of the first party point of view. Reading Midnight Walking by Kathryn Chua made me reminisce about Labyrinth, an old movie back in the 80s where the main character’s fate became pretty much intertwined with the owl that she encountered. There’s plenty of familiar things inside this novel, and the main character’s description, Lucy Pine, made me think of Bella from Twilight Saga written by Stephanie Meyer.
But despite of the familiarities, there’s plenty of mystery and surprises in this book. I suppose young adults will really enjoy this. I wouldn’t exactly classify this book as a fantasy horror, as the storyline is much more inclined to paranormal fantasy instead of sheer fantasy horror.
This book is definitely a good read if you’re looking for some paranormal escapism with a twist. Plenty of spooky nuggets inside, and plenty of unexpected twist and turns. The pace was quite slow in the beginning, but the book is doubtlessly page turning after a while. By the end of the book, I wish there was more.
I highly recommend this book to young adults age 14 and up. Great as permanent collection in your reading library, and perfect to be read during those dull, rainy nights.
Midnight Walking is available in Kinokuniya, MPH and most major bookstores in Malaysia. It’s currently available only in paperback version.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I was not compensated in any monetary ways for writing this review. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.
Book description:
Lucy Pine is an average teenager: relatively good grades, close friends, parents and one brother (previously two). So when a crow smashes into her window one night, she regards it as a one-off kind of thing.
What she doesn’t know is that the crow isn’t a crow at all, but a being called Cyrus who has a nasty habit of picking off young girls and slowly draining them of their souls.
As Lucy is tangled further in Cyrus’s web of manipulation and darkness, secrets from the past unravel, and her life is put in terrible danger.
About the author:
Kathryn Chua is 17 years old. Born in Hong Kong and spent her first 12 years in Malaysia before moving to Beijing. She have a pair of supportive parents who enrolled her with a private teacher in creative writing when they found out that she have interest in creative writing. Kathryn aspire to be a full-time novelist and hopes to publish more books in the future.

Shu Uemura make up demonstration
I thought that the nightmares of going into the principal’s office to be reprimanded each time I’ve done something wrong like not doing my homework is over once I left school. But boy, was I wrong! If school was a horror movie, then motherhood is the sequel to this horror movie! Each time I talk to some of my boy’s teacher, they did nothing but make me feel like a child who has done wrong all over again, and I’m kinda sick of it.
I think if most of you here is aware that my boy is a special need child, and his milestone is different from your average children, and unlike most mothers who is pushing for academic excellence, I don’t really do such thing. I allowed my son to learn at his own pace though I do my part in tutoring him everyday. His results is mostly just average.
Apparently, teachers are not always satisfied with his achievements, and would put a blame on me on that and wants me to push him to do well in exam and stuff. I’m seriously sick of going to school and being reprimanded by teachers. Apparently, they are treating me like a child too because one way or another, I look pretty young and petite to be having a child of my son’s age. I don’t really wear like any other adults my age and I don’t really go around with one inch make up on my face to look older in order to intimidate people like other corporate mothers.
I know this can’t be helped, but I can’t continue going on like this. Having school teachers not respecting me as a child’s mother will not only give negative effect to me, but to my son as well. How can I expect my son to respect me as his mother if his teachers keep intimidating me and making me feel guilty in front of him? I think this have to stop, one way or another. I got to start dressing up more like an adult than a kid. (That means no more spaghetti straps, shorts and nude face when meeting the teachers… BOO!!! Life really sucks when people treat you based on how you look like!)
And so, when I was given an opportunity to attend Shu Uemura make up demonstration last week I was ecstatic.
I’ll finally be learning on how to put up make up that will make me look slightly more respectable.
Plenty of other bloggers were invited to this event too.
Here’s Ms. Lisa, Shu Uemura’s make up artist, getting ready for the demo.
Part of Shu Uemura’s products used during the demo. Part of the products used is the newly launched colour atelier. Which is not only bold in nature, but will also give the natural effect on the face. This is something that I certainly like about Shu Uemura’s product. I hate make ups that looks too thick and unnatural.
The make up artist, giving the model a face makeover. Plenty of useful tips were given on how to apply the make up to make us naturally stands out in the crowd.
The model, after the makeover. Beautiful, isn’t she?
Refreshments and goodie bags. Each of us bloggers were given a goodie bag containing their newly launched lipstick.
I’m really looking forward to try out the lipstick given and implement what I have learned during the makeover. Hopefully my skill will get better with practice.
Cleffairy: If you’re interested in Shu Uemura’s products, you may follow the updates and find out more about their products in their Facebook Fanpage HERE.

Publisher: Nelson, Thomas, Inc.
Publication date: 9/20/2011
Pages: 32
Age range: 3 – 7 Years
Series: Gabby, God’s Little Angel Series
This lovely, splashy pink children book made its way to my home a couple of days ago and I was so pleased to see it. ‘Gabby, God’s Little Angel’ is a wonderful children book for little girls age 4 and above. The pictures in this book is mostly pastel in colour, and the storyline is pretty much revolved around a little angel known as Gabby.
The book is really funny, entertaining and educational, so if you’re looking for a little something for your little girls to read, I highly recommends ‘Gabby, God’s Little Angel’ by Sheila Wash.
Be forewarned, though. This book may tickle your little one’s bones. So be prepared to hear joyful laughter from your kids.
This book makes a wonderful bedtime story collection as well a gift book. Highly recommended for parents who are looking for a good, quality read for their young daughters.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Thomas Nelson Publisher. I was not required to write a positive review for this book and I was not compensated in monetary ways for writing this.

Power Of Interactive Play Workshop by Fisher Price
Last week, I was given the opportunity to attend a parenting workshop hosted by Fisher Price. This workshop was aimed at parents, mainly expecting parents and parents with babies and toddlers.
Here’s Carrie, the speaker who is in charged of the whole workshop.
Belinda Chee (8tv host), the Fisher Price ambassador spoke about the importance of play in a child’s early life.
The workshop started with Ms. Carrie dividing all of the participants into groups.
The Power of Interactive Play workshop requires alot of active participations and interaction. All of us were required not only to communicate with our group members to get an assignment done, but w were also required to mingle and interact with other participants who are not from our group.
There were plenty of interesting activities prepared for us parents during this workshop, and among them is ‘Learning Tournament’, ‘Dear Carrie’ session where we were asked to pretend as a child specialist and give advice to ‘trouble parents’ who are pretty much in need of not only advice, but supports and encouragements as well.
Attending the Power of Interactive Play Workshop by Fisher Price was really an eye-opening experience for me, even though my child is no longer a toddler. I come to learn that children needs to play to grow cognitively, and as a responsible adult, we should not abuse them into learning everything just the academic way.
I will be sharing more about what I’ve learned during the workshop with you folks in the nearest future, so stay tune for more.
Cleffairy: Children’s job is to play.

My Dangerous Encounters with Dr. Brady Barr
Do you know who is Dr. Brady Barr? I’m sure this name is quite familiar to all of you out there if you’re a huge fan of documentary channels, mainly National Geographic. My son is a big fan of his show, Dangerous Encounters.
Dangerous Encounters is shown on Nat Geo Wild (Astro Channel 553) and is all about Dr. Brady Barr’s adventure… or rather misadventure in the wild. It’s really an educational show, really, and if you’re one of those mum who is concerned about your kids not learning anything when they watch TV, you ought to switch to this channel and let the kids watch Nat Geo, cuz it’s not only educational, but entertaining as well.
The Most Dangerous Encounters& dangerous Encounters Season 7 will be premiering on National Geographic (Astro Channel 553) and Nat Geo Wild (Astro Channel 550) on this coming 27th June at 8 pm, GMT+8, so be sure to catch it, ladies and gentlemen. It will be one of the most exciting season yet, I can vouch for it as I’ve been to the premier of it in Zoo Negara, with none other than Dr. Brady Barr himself.
Dr. Brady Barr is a reptile expert, and he made it his mission to study and protect some of the world’s most dangerous and endangered animals. Particularly crocodile and alligators. Dr. Brady Barr has journeyed to five continents and over 70 countries to study these animals, and thanks to his effort, we can now see all of those dangerous animals straight from our living room through his show.
Dr. Brady Barr was in Zoo Negara on 20th June 2012 for the Nat Geo Wild Press conference on his ‘Dangerous Encounters’ show.
It was a pretty exciting event, as there were plenty of activities hosted by the organizer that day during the press conference, including a little ‘dangerous encounters’ with the slimy snakes as well as the vicious crocodiles.
Just take a look at this. Dr. Brady Barr and his slimy little friend. My gosh! I could never do this, even if you put me at a gun point. During the event, members of the media as well as school children were given a hands on experience with the wild creature.
But snake is one of the thing that I fear most…not just because it’s dangerous and poisonous, but because they are slimy! I’ve always been squeamish towards these creature. I’ll never go near to anything that slithers. They are not just my thing.Snakes, in my humble opinion is something really evil, and really dangerous.
But according to Dr. Brady Barr in his press conference in Zoo Negara the other day, snakes are one of the peaceful creatures in the world. Snakes will avoid you, and will not attack you unless you harm them in the first place. During the press conference, we were told that snakes should only be handled when there is a need to do so, which is when they are sick, or for educational purpose. We were also given tips on how to avoid snake bites. We were told that if we see a snake, just back away, as snakes will not chase you as they are not dangerous in nature. The only time we will be bitten is when they feel threatened, or when you accidentally step on them. Yes, the snakes bites human because they retaliate towards our action. We were also told to keep our home clutter-free and avoid things that will attract rodents, which is obviously food to snakes.
Here’s a little tidbit for you folks out there, an interview with Dr. Brady Barr with FlyFM.
Here’s sharing with you some tips given by Dr. Brady Barr on avoiding snakes and crocs.
Brady’s Tips to Avoid Snake Attacks:
Never ever attempt to pick-up a snake. It takes an expert to determine whether it is venomous or not.
If you see a snake, just back away. Snakes will not chase you as they are not aggressive.
The only time you’ll be bitten is if you step on the snake or try to pick it up.
Keep your yard and home free from trash and clutter, avoid things that will attract rodents and then subsequently attract snakes.
Brady’s Tips to Avoid Crocodile Attacks:
Do not go fishing while wading in water and never attach caught fish to your body.
Do not let your kids or pets play around water’s edge. And avoid any activities along water’s edge, especially at dusk.
Never approach a crocodile. If you see it, maintain your distance and back away slowly.
Never feed crocodiles! This is very dangerous because they become conditioned to associate people with food.
Apart from getting up-close and personal with the snakes and crocs, the members of the media and bloggers alike were given a mini survival kit bag. Pretty cool, isn’t it?
I also won something from the lucky draw session. It must be my lucky day and the snakes and the crocs must have been smiling on me, cuz it’s the first time ever I’ve won a lucky draw! LOL!
Anyway, don’t forget to catch the 2 hour simulcast of “The Most Dangerous Encounters & Dangerous Encounters (Season 7) on National Geographic and Nat Geo Wild on this coming 27th June 2012.
