Beyond Hospitality: Palace of the Golden Horses Afternoon Tea Party

I know this is a bit overdue, but hey, better late than never. It’s never too late to document sweet memories that I had, no?

I was invited by the Palace of the Golden Horses to experience their afternoon tea party a couple of weeks ago.

It was not a blogger event. It’s just a party that they decided to host to celebrate 5,000 likes on their Facebook FanPage, but I was really surprised to see that there are lotsa bloggers over there during the tea party. :D There’s plenty of familiar faces and plenty of Facebook friends who attended the tea party. Truly an unforgettable experience, I must say.

This was my first tea party. I had lotsa fun. I participated in a mini games and  despite I did not win the grand lucky draw prize where I can experience staying 2 Days 1 Night in the Palace of The Golden Horses, I did won myself a Japanese fine dining for two, which I intend to use for my birthday in September.

I bet it’s gonna be a great experience, I have no doubt on that. :D

This is by far the most enjoyable party I have ever attended. Lotsa fun, lotsa delectable pastries, and plenty of unexpected dramas. The guests were welcomed personally upon arrival and I have to say that the host was really friendly.

The host even took the trouble to go to each guests’ table to personally welcome us. I can’t imagine how he managed to greet more than 200 guests, but he did just that.

The Palace of The Golden Horses team made sure nobody felt left out or lonely during the party; the emcee of the day even played Ballad Por Adeline on the piano for me when he saw me sitting alone with my son while the rest participated during the Amazing Horses Race. He must have thought those who did not join the game will be bored or something, hence he took the initiative to entertain us. I have to say, the Palace of The Golden Horses team were really attentive and friendly.

And I have to compliment the chefs too. They have done such a wonderful job in giving us a taste of their lovely masterpieces from the kitchen. I still can’t forget the gastronomical experience that I had in the Palace of The Golden Horses during the afternoon tea party.

Plenty of Eat Mes fruit tarts that will make Alice of Alice in Wonderland grow green with envy…

French butter cookies sandwiched with strawberry slices and cream that practically melts in your mouth

Plenty of mini cakes for cake lovers

And more cakes…

These cakes will definitely ruin your diet regime if you’re not careful enough…

Scones, is of course another must have during the tea party. Perfect with jam and clotted cream…

And who could resist these delectable, melt in your mouth, not in your hands macarons? I certainly couldn’t, even though I’m not really into sweet and sugary stuff.

There was of course, plenty of yummy pastries to savour

And what’s an afternoon tea party without sandwiches…

I had a few go at these…and I daresay that nobody could blame me for that. They’re yummylicious.[image error]

There’s plenty of canapes like hot dogs in BBQ sauce

And chicken meatball for those who are somewhat carnivorous.

Their cheesy baked potatoes is somewhat addictive as well.

To experience the afternoon tea party hosted by the Palace of The Golden Horses is truly an amazing experience for me. The Palace of The Golden Horses team did a magnificent job in ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and enjoyed their short afternoon there.

I enjoyed myself very much, and I felt pretty much like a part of the Palace of the Golden Horses’ family instead of just a guest over there. Bravo, Palace of The Golden Horses Team. You guys deserved more than just a 5 star for your excellent service.

Cleffairy: The security team in the Palace of The Golden Horses deserves a special mention too, for going beyond hospitality in order to ensure the security and the safety of the guests throughout the entire afternoon (There was a party pooper incident created by two of the lady guests. Plenty of catfight and plenty of water splashing at each other during the fight that nearly victimized me and those who were nearby; an unexpected drama that  I rather not elaborate as it will ruin this happy post-will tell you folks about it next time.) *takes a bow* I SALUTE the security team in the Palace of The Golden Horses. I will definitely not hesitate to vote the Palace of The Golden Horses for The World Luxury Hotel Awards.

It’s rude to point your finger!

Had a wonderful food review session earlier at Frontera Sol of Mexico earlier with my hubby and son (will blog about it once I sort the pics out), but can’t help but spot an extremely rude gentlemen who pointed his finger at MY table and asked the host if the ones who were sitting there are bloggers.

I think he taught we’re not invited or something and is there for free treats. In which, I can assure you that we were not there for free treats. My husband and I were both invited separately, and each invited bloggers were allowed to bring a guest with them. I don’t see why it’s wrong to bring my son along too since I’ve informed the host beforehand that my son will be tagging along with me during the foodie session. (Note: I don’t go to events that is single invite. Or events that my husband does not have his own invitation too)

At the end of the day, I really wonder why he didn’t come straight up and ask directly since he taught we’re not invited and questioned the host about it instead? No balls for it? Is it so strange that both husband and wife are bloggers for separate blogs and have own invitation each for certain events? Never seen such thing before?

Obviously this person have not been mixing with bloggers whose genre are parenting before. I’ve seen plenty of family and mummy bloggers bringing along their children or spouses to the events that they’re invited to, and all usually made a point to ask the host if it’s a single invite or if they are allowed to bring their children or not. And I’ve seen plenty of couples who are both bloggers as well.

Do you seriously think we couple/ family/mummy bloggers are freeloaders? Think again before you start pointing fingers and go around condemning and stereotyping people. I’m sure I’m speaking up for all couples/ mummy/parent bloggers who let their children tag along during events too.

Cleffairy: It’s VERY RUDE to point fingers to people when people are looking at him. He ought to have put down his hand once he noticed people glaring back at him. Wonder if that guy’s mama ever taught him any manners at all.

701 Doors to Opportunities

A couple of days ago, I was given an opportunity to attend 701 Pages Launching. The posh event was held in Westin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Plenty of things were planned to keep the guests entertained. There was a magic show performance by the magician Andrew Lee…(sorry, no pic… it was too dark and I can’t manage to get a good shot of Andrew performing his tricks)

And an enchanting performance by Dennis Lau, one of Malaysia’s well famed violin maestro. (Some of you might recognize him as the character Lan Qiao from Nasi Lemak 2.0)

The newly launched 701pages.com brings new meaning to online marketing platforms and tools. It has a comprehensive search directory that not only lists and enhances, but also promotes businesses online.

Breathing life to a new generation of directories via its revamped and improved site, www.701pages.com, the Malaysian-powered directory maintains the most updated business listings. 701pages.com is the online directory search portal run by 701Panduan Sdn Bhd, a 50-50 joint venture company held by Singapore Press Holdings and Star Publications.

This the first website in Malaysia with an online directory powered by strong social elements. The website can deliver value and provide users with useful information on travel, food, beauty and many more.

Using the latest technologies, 701pages.com brings to users interactive tools highlighting features that transform business opportunities to sales via the Enquiry button. Users are linked directly to the business, cutting out the ‘middle man’ altogether.

Moving beyond its traditional role as an online directory, the brand new site will push boundaries by adopting a more peer-review based feature to create a community-like environment within 701pages.com. With this peer-review based feature, users will be able to review and grade each other’s products and services, thus adding credibility to the products and services on offer at this website.

Beyond self-business listings, 701pages.com also has its own online store via mystore.com.my and discount portal at superdeals.my.

Cleffairy: Wonderful website for those who seek to find more opportunities, I must say. Do check it out soon. :D

Only Together, Great Things Can Happen

I have recently learned how to dance. But I cannot do it alone. In most types of dancing, I need a partner for it, and I come to realize that dancing is not the only thing you cannot do alone.

There’s plenty more things in life that you cannot do alone, and if you look around you, you’d realize that a lot of things cannot function well just on their own too.

A train will not be able to reach it’s destination without a proper tracks. Same goes with growing up milk powder. Like a train that will not be able to reach it’s destination with proper tracks, growing up milk powder without a good formulation in it will not be able to fully benefit a child.

I’m sure most of you mummies and daddies out there are more than aware that DHA is one of the important thing that you must look for in the contents label whenever you buy growing up milk powder for your child as DHA is one of the key ingredient that helps build brain cells.

But…how many of you mummies and daddies out there is aware that having a lot of DHA is not enough? Here’s a little fact for you, mummies and daddies…human babies are born with millions of brain cells, and these brain cells are waiting to be connected. Learning only happens when those brain cells are connected. And we need Gangliosides to help these brain cells get connected so that learning can happen.

So, how do you actually help a child’s brain cells gets connected with one another through nourishment? Well, elementary my dear readers. You can choose growing up milk powder that contains Gangliosides in its’ formulation.

Gangliosides play an important role in children’s mental and physical development as it helps connect the brain cells and consequently, helps children to learn faster and grow smarter.

Like a train that needs to reach it’s destination, both DHA and Gangliosides are needed to nourish a child’s brain so that learning could happen faster. DHA and Gangliosides must work in a synergy so that it can deliver better outcome, just like the video below:

In other words, what I’m trying to say is, whenever you choose a growing up milk powder for your children, you can’t just choose a growing milk powder that only contains DHA and some vitamins or minerals in it, but you need to choose a growing up milk powder that combines both DHA as well as Gangliosides along with other vitamins and minerals in it. Only by working together, DHA and Gangliosides can make great things happens.

Anyway, a couple of days ago, I came across this advertisement.

It’s a milk brand advertisement, claiming that Anmum Essential contains not only DHA, but Gangliosides as well.

Being an Anmum Essential user, I’m well aware of that, of course. I’ve known that Anmum Essential not only contains DHA and Gangliosides and have no added sugar in it for quite some time now, but what really catches my attention is the word ‘ ‘more Gangliosides than before’. Obviously this ad is made to inform the consumer about their new formulation.

Gosh, I did not know that Anmum Essential has been recently improved. I decided to do some research in the shopping centre to confirm that the ad is not a hoax (ahem, that’s just an excuse to go shopping, Midyear sale is going on. LOL)

And when I went to the hypermarket, I spotted this banner at the milk powder aisle

So the advertisement was not a hoax after all. Anmum Essential was really improvised.

I noticed that there’s ‘More Gangliosides and DHA’ on the bottom left of the Anmum Essential packaging.

And I was informed by the milk promoter in charged that the new Anmum Essential contains 80% more DHA and 25% more Gangliosides.

Well, here’s the more reason you should choose Anmum Essential as your children’s growing up milk. It not only contains no added sugar (which is important cuz too much added sugar can be hazardous to children’s health in the long run), but contained more DHA and Gangliosides that helps children to learn faster as well.

So, the boy thought I’m pregnant!

I come to realized that whenever I’m all stressed up with something, my whole body will go wacko jacko on me. More often than not, I’ll get terrible stomach cramp and feeling bloated. Apart from that, I also feel nauseous whenever I see or eat certain kind of food and is forced to stick to soft diet or fruit diet only. Sounds pretty much like a pregnancy symptom, no? Hell yes, I feel pretty much pregnant. But trust me…I am not pregnant.

A couple of days ago, I had such attacks again, and I kept rubbing my tummy after puking out my dinner.

My boy was really curious, and so he came to me and asked me if I’m constipating since I keep rubbing my tummy while moaning in pain.

I told him that it’s not the case, and in response, he came to rub my stomach and exclaimed ” Got baby inside!”

I was really shocked . I have no idea how he came to that conclusion. =.= Obviously, he’s been mixing too much with his Aunt Mamakucing, or been reading too much of her comments on my status update!

Cleffairy: Note to Mamakucing. There is no Monkey Princess in the stomach.

Wanna chat with me? Use WeChat!

Are you a smartphone user? Well, I am a smartphone user, and I’m pretty much dependent on my smartphone. I not only use my smartphone to communicate with my family, friends, and loved ones, but I also use my smartphone to do my work…you know, read email, reply emails, blogging through the phone, write my novels by using the phone and not to mention read ebooks by using my smartphone.

In other words, smartphone is really an important device to me. I can never leave home without it. It’s not just a tool to communicate, but it’s practically my mobile office.

There’s plenty of free apps available for my Android phone that will enable me to communicate with my loved ones for free, and being a cheap skate, I’ve installed quite a few of them in my phone so that I can test out which one of those apps suits me best.

I recently discovered that there’s this particular apps known as WeChat.

It’s a fun smartphone apps that enables the user to communicate with one another for free. This apps originates from China, and was recently launched in Zouk, Malaysia in a glamorous event.

More than 200 bloggers and members of the media were invited to the event. :D

For those who are unfamiliar with this apps… I can assure you that it’s a fun new way to communicate with your family and friends…and it’s also a very good tool to make new friends.

I’ve just installed it in my phone and I’m having so much fun with it already.

Signing up to WeChat is quite a straight forward process where you’re required to verify yourself with your phone number. You can also use your Facebook account to login to WeChat.

WeChat offers quite a few interesting feature apart from the usual text messaging, hold to talk voice messaging, photo/video sharing and broadcast messaging. Among them is:

Look around
Shake
Drift Bottle
Scan QR Code

The add friend feature on WeChat is pretty simple. You not only import contacts from your phonebook, but you also can also add Facebook friends who are already using WeChat into your contact list.

You don’t have to worry about privacy on WeChat because all of your datas are encrypted and you get choose who can add you and who you want to befriend with. :D

WeChat feature is pretty cool, I must say. You can lightly bump phones to add WeChat users to your contact.Awesome, isn’t it? You don’t have to key in contact. Just lightly bump the phone, and the contacts will be saved. :D And if you wanna exchange each other’s contact, just shake the phone, and it will be done! Apart from that, you can also scan QR code to add contacts into your phone.

Remote shake on the other hand, allows you to make new friends with strangers who are shaking the phone at the same time as you.

Feeling a little emotional, melancholic and needs to talk to someone who will actually listens instead of judging you? No fret, there’s ‘Drift Bottle’ function.

You may write a message in the ‘virtual bottle’  seal it up and drift it into the sea. If you’re lucky, someone, somewhere in the world who is using WeChat may pick it up and make a connection with you. :D Good way to not only make friends, but also de-stress don’t you think?

Of course, the drift function works both ways. You may also pick up someone elses’s bottle and make acquintance with them too.

Interested in trying this apps out? WeChat is free to download and is available on various phone platforms.

So be sure to check out your phone and download from your respective app shop, and don’t forget to like WeChat Malaysia Fb Page to get exciting news and updates on WeChat Malaysia. :D

Bas**rds aplenty

These few months, I’ve encountered plenty of male human who apparently lacks paternity knowledge. Well, maybe they don’t exactly lack of paternity knowledge, but they certainly behaved like one, and have it my way, I would very much prefer to tell them in the face to have their DNA checked so that they know who is actually responsible in bringing them into this world and make a terrible impact to the people around them.

These disgusting creature are just plain intolerable, and to think that they have a cheek to call claim themselves as ‘man’ is inconceivable.

I wouldn’t mind as much if these disgusting creature only goes around boasting on how good and perfect they are and merely try to campaign around so that people in their circles believe that they are flawless, but going around criticizing others on how people should live their lives and handle their family…well, that is too much and beyond accepting, especially if they do it to the people whom they don’t even know in real life.

To have such Facebook friend in MY Facebook account is a complete insult as these people have nothing better to do than criticize my friends who needs not only motivation, but encouragements as well in regards of parenting and dealing with the challenges in their daily lives. One should never judge and tell others what to do. And if they want to do so, they ought to look at themselves in the mirror and walk the talk!

I do not need some chauvinistic swine who have nothing better to do than merely insult the integrity and the intelligence of others by giving stupid advice and make others feel bad about themselves while they themselves could use some manner management crash course.

It is disgusting to have such swine of a man in my Facebook friends’ list, and therefore, here’s apologizing to all of my Facebook friends who have ever been offended by that sort of people in my friends’ list. I can assure you that while such bas**rd is aplenty, I will continuously be careful with such people and remove them from my account and disallow them from continuing to see my Facebook status update so that such disgustingly intolerable creature will not have a chance to further insult and degrade you.

Please forgive me. The fault is all mine for adding them into my Facebook account. I can assure you that I merely add these swine because they are somehow associated with my husband, and I had no choice but give them face earlier when they requested me to add them as friend.

But I’ve learned the lesson the hard way, and is convinced that not everyone in the IT industry is trained to have manners and is incapable of socializing properly with the society and therefore, I’ve barred them from seeing my updates to avoid further negative activities and responses on my Facebook wall.

Your spouse’s friends cannot always be your friends. So be very selective when they requested you to be their friend on Facebook for they might offend your loved ones in the worst ways possible.

Cleffairy: Good riddance to bad rubbish. If I have a friend who have nothing better to do that questions my integrity or degrade my friends’ capabilities in parenting, I’d get rid of them immediately. No one needs that sort of disgusting creature in their lives.

Fortune’s Perfect Match

Title: Fortune’s Perfect Match

Publisher: Harlequin

Imprint: Harlequin Special Edition

Pub Date: June 05, 2012

ISBN: 9780373656738

Author:Allison Leigh

Initially, I thought I wouldn’t be able to stomach this book, as there’s too many characters involved in this story. There’s plenty of extended family members that I need to know about, and how they relates to the main character. But after reading on for a while, I come to notice that the story is not only heart warming, but sexily irresistible too. Well, at least it’s pretty sexy to me. The phone sex is incredible. I find the phone sex scene is quite refreshing in comparison to the intimate moments on the bed itself.

The author made the characters deal with plenty of insecurities issue, and I find it quite an interesting read.

Not a bad read, actually. I enjoyed reading this book, and I’d easily rate it a 4 star out of 5 stars.

I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin Publisher and I was not required to write a positive review out of this book. I was not compensated in any ways for writing this.

Book description:

THE PERFECT MISMATCH!

It seemed as if all the Fortunes were finding love—all of them except Emily. Pretty, poised and smart, the oldest Fortune daughter had given up on Mr. Right and was now looking for Baby Right.

And then she met a man.

No one would ever picture rough-around-the-edges Max Allen with a pampered princess like Emily. The tall, shaggy-haired airport manager had never caught a break in his life. After he’d lost baby Anthony, he vowed never to love another child. And now he’d fallen hard for a polished, sophisticated woman intent on having a baby. Was Max headed for another heartbreak? Or could the well-heeled Ms. Fortune be the one who finally made him whole?

Uptown Danau Kota Midnight Bazaar Takoyaki

Are you a fan of fried octopus ball? It’s better known as Takoyaki by the Japanese.

Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special grill pan. It is typically filled with minced or diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and chopped green onion.

I spotted this Takoyaki stall while I was doing some shopping in Uptown Danau Kota Midnight Bazaar a couple of days ago. It’s located somewhere along the strip of the bazaar.

I couldn’t resist. I’ve always been a huge fan of this particular Japanese street snack. I knew I must have it.

Here’s the Takoyaki men preparing the Takoyakis. Takoyaki are brushed with takoyaki sauce, a sauce similar to Worcestershire sauce, and then topped with generous amount of mayonnaise.

Here’s my takoyaki after a few minutes of waiting. The takoyaki is sprinkled with green laver and shavings of dried bonito too . It’s absolutely yummy, and I highly recommend those who love this Japanese snack to try out the takoyakis in this particular street stall.

The folks who manned the stall is not only friendly, but the price of the takoyaki they sold is reasonable too. It’s Rm5 for a set of 5 piece Takoyaki balls. It comes in 3 fillings option: octopus, prawn and crabsticks.

Just keep a lookout for the red stall in the Uptown Danau Kota midnight bazaar. You can’t miss it.

Cleffairy: I can never get enough of takoyaki.
