Pregnant Lindsay Lohan Celebrates Baby Shower Weekend That’s So Fetch

One time, Lindsay Lohan had a baby shower. It was awesome. (For real.)
The pregnant Mean Girls star, who is expecting her first child with her husband of one year, Bader Shammas, celebrating their baby’s upcoming arrival with her loved ones this weekend.
Lindsay, who wore a sleeveless orange outfit, shared a photo from the celebration on Instagram Stories April 16. The 36-year-old captioned a pic of herself sitting at a table with her mom Dina Lohan and sister Aliana Lohan, “Take the time to smile.”
The event appeared to have a rustic theme. Resting in front of the guest of honor and her family members was a small wooden box containing white flowers and bearing the words “Oh baby.”
The guests also enjoyed a round, white frosted cake—likely filled with rainbows and smiles.
The party appeared to have taken place in Dubai, where Lindsay and Bader live. As seen in a pic that Aliana shared, guests also enjoyed a large plate containing what appeared to be hummus, baba ganoush and various other Middle Eastern salads.
Alabama baseball coaches sued over alleged injury mismanagement
Former Alabama pitcher Johnny Blake Bennett is suing his former college baseball coaches for allegedly mismanaging his injury and terminating his scholarship, according to the Tuscaloosa News.
The lawsuit alleges that former manager Brad Bohannon, pitching coach Jason Jackson and athletic trainer Sean Stryker mishandled the former pitcher’s rib injury in 2019, after which he told staff he would had a problem with his arm.
Bennett was later reportedly diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and had surgery in March 2020.

Just two months after the major surgery – which completely derailed the careers of superstar pitchers Matt Harvey and Stephen Strasburg – the lawsuit claims Bohannon called Bennett to tell him Alabama would not renew his scholarship.
Bennett then transferred from the SEC powerhouse to a two-year school, Pensacola State College.
He would withdraw from public college, citing “intense and stressful fear of failure and anxiety every time he starts,” the lawsuit says.
His last stop was a short-lived stint at Jacksonville State, but he was then fired without explanation in May 2022, just two days after facing his former team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“I am not suing the University of Alabama or AD Greg Byrne. They have policies in place to protect student-athletes. Unfortunately, in my case, coaches and coaches ignored those policies,” said Bennett in a statement to 247Sports.
The defense has asked for the case to be dismissed, which will be decided at a hearing on June 20.

“The University does not comment on pending litigation, but looks forward to sharing the actual facts with the court,” the Alabama Department of Athletics wrote in a statement to the Tuscaloosa News.
“God, I really wish I could talk about some details,” Bohannon said after Alabama’s loss to Auburn on Friday. “I really wish I could. But unfortunately, you know, I can’t.

Mass shooting in Dadeville, Alabama leaves four dead: live updates
“One of the young men who was killed was one of our star athletes and just a great guy. So I got to know a lot of those students. Dadeville is a small town and that’s going to affect everyone in that area. said Hayes.
Annette Allen: “Everyone is in mourning”Annette Allen told the Montgomery Advertiser, which is part of the USA TODAY Network, that his grandson, Philstavious “Phil” Dowdell, was killed in the Saturday night shooting.
Dowdell was a high school student from Dadeville who had signed with Jacksonville State University. Allen said he was attending a party celebrating his sister Alexis’ sweet 16th birthday before she was interrupted by gunfire.
Dowdell died of his injuries, according to Allen. And his mother was among those injured in the shooting.
“He was a very, very humble kid. He never played with anyone. He always had a smile on his face,” Allen said, calling his smile a “million dollar smile.”
Jacksonville State football coach Rich Rodriguez released a statement in response to the shooting Sunday afternoon.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Philstavious Dowdell and the other victims of last night’s senseless tragedy,” Rodriguez said in the statement. “He was a wonderful young man with a bright future. My team and I are heartbroken and hope everyone will support his family during this difficult time.”
Allen asked for prayers for the county and surrounding areas.
“Everyone is in mourning,” she said.
Ashley Hill lives in Opelika, but drove to downtown Dadeville with two other women after hearing about the shooting to find out if a family friend was safe. “Babies — very devastating,” she said of the teenagers who were at the studio.
Dadeville was hit by at least one mass shooting when a gunman on August 28, 2016 injured five people at a party at American Legion Hall.
“This morning I mourn with the people of Dadeville and my fellow Alabamians. Violent crime has no place in our state, and we remain closely briefed by law enforcement as details emerge,” Alabama Governor Kay Ivey said in a statement posted on social media.
Dadeville, the county seat of Tallapoosa in east-central Alabama, has a population of about 3,000 and is about 57 miles northeast of Montgomery.
“The town of Dadeville is a tight-knit community full of wonderful people,” Dadeville Police Chief Jonathan Floyd told reporters Sunday morning. “What we have dealt with is something no community should have to endure.”
After a new law took effect in January, anyone 18 or older can carry a handgun in the state without a license, background check or safety training in Alabama. Governor Kay Ivey signed the legislation into law that repealed the concealed carry permit requirement in March 2022.
Alabama has no state law that restricts or defines “assault weapons” or “large capacity magazines” and does not regulate machine guns as a class of firearms, according to the National. Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action.
Biden briefed on shootingPresident Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting, the White House said. The president was monitoring the situation and has been in contact with local officials and law enforcement to offer support, officials said.
In response to this weekend’s gun violence, Biden called on lawmakers to act on gun safety reforms.
“This morning, our nation again mourns at least four Americans tragically killed at a teenager’s birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama, as well as two others killed last night in a crowded public park in Louisville,” said Biden said in a statement Sunday afternoon. .
The Dadeville shooting happened around the same time that two people were killed and four others were injured in Louisville, Kentucky, by someone shooting in a crowded park on Saturday night.
Officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. to Chickasaw Park where “someone began shooting into the crowd, hitting at least six people, said Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey. Four people were transported to the university hospital.
Five people were killed and eight were injured in a shooting at Old National Bank in Louisville on April 10, including two LMPD officers. The shooter, who was a bank employee, was killed by officers. The motive for the shooting was not disclosed.
“It’s been a week of indescribable tragedy for our city,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said at the Saturday night press conference. “It’s not our city. It’s not who we are. It’s not what we want to be. … That’s enough.”
The non-profit organization Gun Violence Archive tracks all mass shootings, defined as a shooting in which at least four victims are hit by gunfire. The Dadeville attack is the 160th mass shooting in the country this year, records show.

Large groups of teenagers erupt in four days of violence after Democrats pick Chicago for 2024 convention
For a fourth straight night, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) was forced to call for reinforcements downtown as large numbers of teenagers gathered and engaged in rioting, violence and even to a shootout on Saturday night.
The party started Wednesday night, just days after the Democratic National Committee (DNC) chose Chicago as the site of its 2024 national presidential convention, despite the city suffering from one of the highest murder rates. high in the country.

— Chicago Navigator (@chinanavigator) April 14, 2023
The CPD was first called out in force around 10 p.m. Wednesday night when around 200 teenagers broke out in a mass brawl in the city’s popular Millennium Park at the southern end of the ‘Mag Mile’. Wednesday night’s incident became the city’s first “large group” incident of the year, according to the CBS Chicago affiliate.
The youths allegedly fought and harassed others in the park, according to reports.

The crowd of unruly teenagers, however, were back on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as police struggled to avert violence.
On Friday, video of teenage gangs jumping over transit buses and rushing through the streets of Chicago emerged on Twitter. The video also showed CPD officers desperately trying to round up the child gangs.

Fox Chicago reported that the roving teenage gangs were also seen banging on car windows, and after shots were fired they noted that they had pulled their press crews off the streets. due to security concerns.

Indeed, NBC 5 Chicago reported that two teenagers were injured in the Loop on Saturday as hundreds of teenagers again flooded downtown and went into violent spasms.
The victims, two boys aged 16 and 17, were reportedly hit by bullets while standing among the crowd when an unknown assailant fired the shots. It’s unclear if the shots were fired during a nearby fight or if they were just random, insane gunfire.

The four nights of violence come just three days after Chicago was chosen as the site of the DNC’s 2024 convention and just ten days after the city elected a hardline, soft on crime, police-defunded, ‘progressive’ at the mayor’s office.
Late last week, before he was sworn in as the next mayor of Windy City, Brandon Johnson absurdly claimed that responsibility for the city’s rising crime rate could lie with corporations because, according to him, “70% do not pay taxes companies.”

The former labor organizer blasted the state’s struggling businesses, saying “70% of large businesses in the state of Illinois don’t pay corporate taxes,” and added. “It’s that kind of fiscal restraint that caused the kind of disinvestment that led to poverty, of course that led to violence.”
The self-proclaimed “progressive” did not reveal his source for the 70% claim.
Even as the violence continues to spin out of control in downtown Loop, Johnson poured out simple platitudes about the unrest during a Friday visit to Jesse Jackson’s Operation Push headquarters.
“My heart breaks for families, who should never have to suffer the pain of a child shot or lost to gun violence in our city. As a father, what I want for my own children, this is what I want for every child in Chicago. Their safety and healing from trauma will be a priority of my administration from day one and beyond,” Johnson said in a statement about the recent violence.
“But we won’t just protect our children – we will love them, nurture them and give each of them the hope and purpose they deserve,” he concluded.

Francisco Alvarez praised for handling Mets pitchers

OAKLAND, Calif. — Francisco Alvarez still isn’t hitting, but he received positive reviews from his manager on Saturday for his handling of Mets pitchers.
So much so that Buck Showalter is considering giving the rookie a second straight start behind the plate for Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics.
Alvarez’s case is bolstered by his familiarity with Jose Butto, who will play in place of Max Scherzer.
Scherzer was pushed back to Wednesday due to persistent back pain.
“I thought [Alvarez] played really well behind the plate with a lot of different pitchers today,” Showalter said after the Mets’ 3-2 victory on Saturday.
Alvarez lined up a bunt from Esteury Ruiz in the ninth inning and threw to first base for the first out.
He also caught Tony Kemp’s squib in front of the plate and threw to first for the second out.
At plate, Alvarez has gone hitless in three at bats and is 1-for-11 (.091) since joining Triple-A Syracuse following Omar Narvaez’s placement on the disabled list with a sprained left calf.
Francisco Alvarez catches a pop-up in the eighth inning of the Mets’ 3-2 win over the A’s.PA
“It’s long,” Showalter said. “I hope they think they’ve found a way to pitch it. If he’s successful, they won’t pitch it like they’re doing now.
The Mets placed Stephen Nogosek on injured reserve with a bone bruise in his right elbow a day after he was hit by a line drive and forced out of the game.
Meanwhile, Dennis Santana has been designated for an assignment.
Jimmy Yacabonis was selected from Triple-A Syracuse to give the Mets another reliever, and Butto took the other spot on the roster.
Showalter said the plan was to let Nogosek potentially pitch the last 4 ¹/₃ innings on Friday night, but the right-hander left with the injury after getting just three outs.
Santana was used for the next 2 ¹/₃ innings.
Justin Verlander hosted a side session in Port St. Lucie, Fla., without any issues, according to Showalter.
The right-hander was throwing a mound for the first time since the start of the season on the injured list with a strained teres major muscle near his armpit.
Want to watch a game? The Mets schedule with links to purchase tickets can be found here.
Progression has Verlander throwing another bullpen session and live batting practice before he’s penciled in for a rehab start in a minor league.
The right-hander said he plans to pitch his first game for the Mets sometime this month.
Showalter deflected questions on third baseman Brett Baty, who is off to a torrid start for Syracuse as Eduardo Escobar, who didn’t play Saturday, continues to struggle.
Baty hit a grand slam on Friday for his fifth homer in nine games to start the season.
“That’s what [Baty] is supposed to do – they all are,” Showalter said. “They’re a good team there. I would challenge anyone to find a more promising Triple-A club than ours.

Missing U.S. Sailors Urge Mexican Navy, U.S. Coast Guard to Search

The Mexican Navy and US Coast Guard are looking for three US sailors who have been missing for 11 days.
The sailors – identified as Kerry O’Brien, Frank O’Brien and William Gross – were last heard from on April 4, the US Coast Guard said in a news release on Friday. At the time, they were near Mazatlán, Mexico, a city in the coastal state of Sinaloa.
When the three left Mazatlán, they were heading to San Diego. The sailors planned to stop in Cabo San Lucas en route – “to stock up and check in” on April 6, the US Coast Guard said.
There is no record of the three Americans arriving in Cabo San Lucas or of the group reporting their location, the Coast Guard said.

Authorities also received no sightings of the group or the 44-foot LaFitte boat, named “Ocean Bound,” they were sailing with.
“Search and rescue coordinators have contacted marinas in Baja, Mexico with negative sightings of the vessel,” the Coast Guard wrote. “Urgent marine information broadcasts were broadcast by VHF radio asking all sailors to watch for missing persons and vessel.”
The Mexican Navy searches for the sailors with the help of the US Coast Guard. Anyone with information about “the whereabouts of Kerry O’Brien, Frank O’Brien and William Gross or the sailing ship Ocean Bound” is urged to contact authorities.
According to ABC News, traveling from Mazatlán to Cabo San Lucas by boat requires sailing more than 200 miles through the southern Gulf of California.

Arnold Schwarzenegger mistakenly fills in a service trench he thought was a pothole

Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger showed off his handyman skills on Tuesday when he posted a video of himself filling in what he said was a pothole that was wreaking havoc among neighborhood drivers from Brentwood to Los Angeles.
But the pothole was apparently not a pothole at all, but rather an authorized service trench created by the local gas utility.
Today, after the whole neighborhood was turned upside down by this giant pothole that’s been messing up cars and bikes for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, don’t complain, let’s do something. Here is. pic.twitter.com/aslhkUShvT
-Arnold Schwarzenegger) April 11, 2023
“This place is not a pothole,” a City of Los Angeles spokesperson told NBC Los Angeles. “This is a service trench that relates to active and authorized work being carried out on the site by SoCal Gas, which expects work to be completed by the end of May.”
“As is the case with similar projects impacting city streets, SoCal Gas will be required to repair the area upon completion,” the spokesperson said.
SoCalGas told the Los Angeles Time that his crews completed a pipeline upgrade in late January and “applied temporary paving to the excavation”.
While SoCalGas normally applies permanent paving within about 30 days of completing a project, the schedule has been delayed due to rain, according to the Time.
Schwarzenegger didn’t appear to buy the official explanation in a follow-up tweet Thursday from his chief of staff, Daniel Ketchell. “It’s always important to take bureaucratic mess control with a grain of salt,” he tweeted.

The Rutgers University faculty strike is over, for now, after a deal is reached

Faculty at Rutgers University are ending a week-long strike, effective immediately, after agreeing to a tentative contract with the school. The 67,000 students at the New Jersey school system can return to classes on Monday.
The three striking unions and the Rutgers administration announced early Saturday that they had reached a “framework” agreement for new faculty contracts.
According to the university, the deal includes substantial increases to the salaries of graduate workers and part-time lecturers, and significantly strengthens job security for part-time faculty, Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway said in a school news release.
The labor organizations — referring to the strike’s status as not a cancelation but a “suspension” — said that while they secured “profound victories for our unions,” some issues remain unresolved, and leave open the option of returning to the picket line if they aren’t able reach a resolution during bargaining.
The three labor unions are: the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union, representing part-time lecturers; the AAUP-AFT, which represents full-time faculty, graduate workers, postdoctoral associates and counselors; and the AAUP-BHSNJ, which represents faculty in the health and sciences departments.
“There are open issues that need to be resolved, especially for AAUP-BHSNJ, and we won’t leave our colleagues at RBHS behind. They have been with us all the way. However, the framework shows the vital progress we have made on the core issues we prioritized during this contract campaign,” the unions said in the announcement.
The unions, representing some 9,000 staff and faculty workers, called for the strike on April 9 in what they said was a fight to secure equal pay, living wages, race and gender equity and salary hikes.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy applauded the agreement after days of demonstrations by staff and students across Rutgers’ campuses in New Brunswick, Camden and Newark.
“After five days of intensive dialogue and negotiations in my office, I am pleased to share that the Rutgers University and union bargaining committees have come to an agreement,” Gov. Murphy said in a statement.
Simone Biles & Jonathan Owens Obtain Marriage License Ahead of Wedding

Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles are gearing up to stick the landing on their wedding day.
The Olympic gymnast and the Houston Texans safety have obtained a marriage license.
Simone shared the sweet news on April 14 by posting both a photo of herself and Jonathan posing with the license to her Instagram feed and Instagram Story. She wrote under the April 14 post, “Almost time to say ‘I do.'”
This update on their journey to marriage comes after Jonathan got down on one knee in February 2022. At the time, Simone shared a few looks at the magical moment to her Instagram, noting that it was, “THE EASIEST YES.”
That very post included a close up look at Simone’s engagement ring. At the time, celebrity jeweler Zo Frost told E! News that the ring’s center stone is a “3 carat oval diamond” that was “handpicked” by Jonathan months prior.
Kendall Jenner Supports Bad Bunny at Coachella Amid Romance Rumors

Kendall Jenner was all smiles as she watched Bad Bunny perform at Coachella.
The model was spotted dancing in the crowd during the rapper’s headlining set on April 14, day one of the 2023 music festival, as seen on a fan’s TikTok video. Kendall, 27, wore a black leather jacket, paired with a white top, denim mini-skirt and black boots, another fan’s Twitter video showed, and she was accompanied by a friend at the event.
Kendall and Bad Bunny, 29, first sparked romance rumors in February, four months after she and Phoenix Suns player Devin Booker broke up.
In March, the Kardashians star and Bad Bunny fueled more speculation they are dating when they were spotted leaving Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s Oscars 2023 after-party together. Days later, rapper Eladio Carrión released his single “Coco Chanel,” featuring Bad Bunny, which contains lyrics that appear to diss Devin (English translation: “But the sun in Puerto Rico is hotter than in Phoenix / She knows it”) and Kendall (English translation: “Scorpio women are dangerous.”
