December Daily® 2022 | Story 09
December Daily® 2022 continues today with Story 09.
Today's story is a celebration of sister bonding between Anna + Audrey and a few details about who they are right now.
Let's dive in to the process video:
Here's a look at additional details:
Today's foundation was originally set up for our Product Play workshop this year. I knew that I would primarily be building off the bottom 4 inch circle.
I used a 4 inch circle punch to punch out both my photos and my journal card (card from the Main Kit).
I saved the circle I set up as a PNG + PDF in case that helps you in setting up something like this for your project. I set up my journaling and printed it out on a scratch piece of paper. On top of that piece of paper I then temporarily adhered the 4 inch x 4 inch journal card and ran it back through the computer. Make sure to "turn off" or "hide" the lines before printing so the lines don't end up on the journal card.
Download the PNG + PDF file here.
I used the two 4 inch circles to create a flip up that connects to the journaling circle.
On top of the pattern paper I added one of the Glitter Cardstock Words + a word/phase sticker + a gold glitter star brad.
I added a red sticker tab between the two photos.
To create the flip up I used a small piece of scrap paper and folded it in half. Half of it is adhered behind the journaling circle and the other half is adhered between the two circle photos.
On top of the journal card I added one of the vellum strips. Before adhering the vellum strip on top of the journal card I adhered it to a thin strip of white cardstock in order to make it so it wasn't see-through any longer.
I love see-through pages like this! So fun!

December Daily® 2022 | Story 08
The eighth story in my December Daily® 2022 album is about Anna's last Christmas program at her K-8th school.
Today's story was added to a page I set up in advance for our December Daily® Product Play workshop. This is a class that you can still join and includes 30 ideas featuring 10 different products from our collection this year (3 ideas per product). You can join the workshop and have immediate access to all thirty lessons.
In today's video I added in some encouragement for wherever you might be in this project right now. There's no behind + no need for guilt + if you need something to focus on to help you overcome some overwhelm I highly recommend opening up a new note on your phone and simply writing down a few stories from December so far this year. Many, if not most, people work on this project in other times of the year because December is a lot. Take a deep breath + remember that there are so many different ways you can approach this project. My job is to share ideas + inspiration that will be waiting for you here when you are ready for them.
Let's dive in to the process video:
Here are images of today's story in my album:
My foundation page for today features an "8" created using the Main Kit chipboard concentric circles on top of a sheet of Grafix Transparency (this is my favorite for using as a page base as it's thicker and sturdier than the transparencies I print on). I used embroidery floss to attach one of the wood veneer stars to the middle of the top circle. Inside the bottom circle I paired pattern paper with the top off one of the 4 inch x 4 inch journal cards. Across the seam I added one of the vellum lyric strips.
A template for the folded pattern paper was included in the Product Play workshop.
To complete this page I printed a photo of Anna + her friends from their last Christmas program. I typed up some journaling as I reflected on the closing of this particular chapter and how thankful I am for the friends I've made (and the friends Anna has made/education she has received). The photo was cropped to 4.5 inch x 8 and then cut out the curves using the cardstock as a template.
Along the inside seam I added a strip of washi tape and above my journaling I added a canvas phrase strip.
I'm waiting until tomorrow's story to adhere this piece onto the background transparency. I want to leave it open to adding a photo on the back or something else before I stick it down for good.

The 2023 One Little Word® workshop registration is now open. The early bird workshop price will be $45 and after January 1, 2022 it will be $50 for 12 months of inspiration and community support as you make your word visible in your life.
In 2006 Ali began the tradition of choosing one word for herself each January – a word she could focus on + get curious about as she went about her daily life over the course of a year. Her words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, story, light, up, open, thrive, give, whole, connect, space, habit, less, heart, pause, and joy (2023). Each word has become an individual thread that weaves together stories of her life. They’ve been imbedded into who she is + into who she is becoming. They’ve helped her to breathe deeper, to see clearer, to embrace mistakes, and to grow.
At the end of 2019 Ali felt moved to change the way she was running this workshop and invited a group of people to join her in co-leading this adventure. Her goal was to bring in other voices, perspectives, and life experiences and to make it more about the wonderful, wholehearted community that comes together around this project.
Each monthly prompt (
available on the first of each month) is designed to invite you back into conversation with your word. Some are writing exercises, some are crafty adventures, some are rooted in photography. Our goal is simply to help you stay connected to your word throughout the year in a way that is meaningful to you and your season of life. Some of the lenses we've used in the past to be in conversation with our words include: vision, adventure, practice, small wins, beginning again, reflection, etc.
Here's a look at some of the monthly responses in Ali's album for 2022:
In 2022 we added a live monthly Zoom call where we connect to share ideas, reflections and stories related to the monthly prompt. This has become a much-loved way to come together to learn from one another, to listen, to share our successes + our struggles, and to cheer each other on as we walk with our individual words. These calls are recorded and added to the classroom for future viewing on your own time.
Our team believes in the power of documentation + the power of words to make a difference in our lives. You are invited to come get curious about your chosen word alongside us as we journey together in 2023.
Joining Ali this year again on the One Little Word® team will be:
Azzari
Lucrecer
Liz
Victoria
Felicitas
Krystal

2022 WORKSHOP FEEDBACK
Here are a few comments from our community at the end of our 2022 workshop:
From T: Thank you so much Ali for this project and the profound impact that is has not only for me but for others. I love the way that you are vulnerable and have helped me to be open and strong in this journey. This has been a tough year and there have been many distractions early on in the year. This would normally mean that I would feel like I failed and couldn’t pick up again - however, last year with the notebooks and journal introduction this has given me so much more freedom. I have been able to jump in to prompts then throughout the remainder of the year and fill in bits and pieces along the way and now as I look back and reflect on the pages I am reminded of the ‘goodness’ (my word) that is contained and captured in the pages and I am very thankful for the ‘goodness’ that this project offers to me and my life. Thank you x
From M: I’m so excited that the team is coming back next year. I thought the prompts this year were so so good. I agree that the personification of my word was so good. For me it was both Liz’s prompt and the dating your word prompt. Even when I struggled with my word the prompts were so worthwhile. Looking forward to another year with all of you.
From S: Thank you all for another wonderful OLW year. My word, trust, will carry forward with all my other words, and the prompts really helped me stay grounded in questioning and learning. I love the community and bond that has sprouted here. So looking forward to settling on a word and taking this amazing journey with you all again win 2023!
From L: Thanks for OLW this year. (My word has been CREATE). The prompts I thought I couldn't/wouldn't do became the most satisfying, revealing, rewarding. I set myself the task of participating each month and making it a priority (just as if I was going to an appointment), as you say, "showing up". I have definitely learned that by showing up rather than giving up I can get it done and all the benefits that has delivered. Thanks to the wonderful other team teachers, seeing different personalities has been eye opening and often really emotional. I love that there's no feeling of competing with each other in this space but of working and growing together. Above all, Ali thanks for providing a safe space for us to explore and grow and be completely open and honest, with each other and with ourselves. I am so keen to get into 2023!
From T: Several years of participating, and similar to what Ali shared, I felt like I was the most invested and impacted by OLW this year. Not only did I document using the cute Rainbow Portfolio journal (most, but not all months)l, but I also created a daily quiet time worksheet that includes a section for my OLW and companion words. Seeing and thinking about how I will apply "Invite" in my life each day was a deal changer for me and really helped me apply the things I was learning through the prompts. I will carry that practice into 2023 with my new OLW. I do love all of the contributors - thankful for their voices. And Ali, I think one of your greatest legacies will be the opportunities you have provided to learn and grow and help each of us both live out and tell our stories.
From T: Ali and team - thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate your vulnerability, creativity, and encouragement. This is my 6th year in OLW and I have witnessed the growth in myself and my life. I have also learned over the last 2 years that making time to show up and (sometimes) push through prompts that are challenging makes all the difference. Writing a poem to the best of my ability and consistently using my hands to creatively express my word has been a game changer. I can't explain the depth of this individual work done in community with others. (Ali, your insights on your growth bring me so much JOY for you and inspire me to look deeply at my own journey. It's not to compare but just two souls walking with and supporting one another on this precious life journey.) I do not feel overwhelmed by the content - I take what I can and leave the rest. I can't wait to get signed up for 2023 and already next year's word is speaking loudly to me, AND I am so grateful for this time and structure set aside to reflect on 2022. Well done Ali & team!!
Here's a video overview of our 2023 One Little Word® collection which is in stock + ready to ship:
Here's a closer look at the product images:
The digital version of the Main Kit is included with the One Little Word® workshop.
This year's Main Kit includes 4x6 journal cards, 10x8 prompt pages (easily cut down to 6x8), chipboard butterflies, tab stickers, Kraft pockets with journal cards, 10x8 pattern papers, 6x8 vellum, die cut heart page, die cut half-circle page, die cut 2x2 square page, labels with and without sentiments, plastic gold foil phrase strips.
Please note that the Mini Kit will be available on the 10th with our other subscriptions.
A couple years ago we introduced a new product option for One Little Word® in the form of a quarterly Mini Kit subscription. Purchasing the first One Little Word® Mini Kit commits you to an "auto-shipment" + charge of the remaining three kits at the time of their shipping. The remaining three kits will be charged + shipped on/around 3/15/23, 6/15/23, 9/15/23.
You can see the Mini Kits that were offered in 2020 and 2021 here.
We hope that spreading out the kits throughout the course of the year will do two things: (1) help keep you continue to connect to your word by giving you products you can use as you make your word visible in your album throughout the year, and (2) spread out the cost over the course of the year rather than a bigger purchase all at once (since we totally get that this is a busy time for spending).
The Mini Kits will ship free for $1 for domestic customers/$5 for international customers.
The Mini Kit is excluded from the shipping threshold minimum for the shipping special.
If any kits remain after we've shipped to subscribers then we will add them to the shop for $30.
This year we are changing up the size + design of the notebook and folio. The stitched notebook is designed with One Little Word® in mind and organized by month giving you space to document in a way that works for you. We went with "currently" for the title to make it usable for a variety of memory keeping/documenting projects.
You can purchase the journal separately for $14.99 and/or the folio + blank notebook separately for $19.99.

Here's a look inside:

Then there's a 2-page dotted grid spread before moving in to the next month.
This year we are offering some watercolor papers for this project for those of you who might want to play a bit more!
Here's what some of the stamps look like on the watercolor paper:
4x6 Alpha Stamp: Ali used this to stamp her word on the 1/2 circle die cut from the Main Kit.
Here's a look at some of these hearts + other stamps found below stamped on white paper:
In addition to the new products featured above we also have a number of products from past collections available in the One Little Word® category including the Stitched Journal + Folio (this is the journal that is specific to OLW and includes additional prompts), a 6x8 striped album with plastic monthly dividers (this is the one Ali used to hold her 2022 documentation), the 2022 OLW Main Kit (again, undated just varied designs), notepads, stamps, additional page protectors, etc.
Digital One Little Word® products will be released on the first Friday in January. Registration for the One Little Word® workshop includes the Digital Main Kit and will be available to you in the classroom upon registration.
December Daily® 2022 | Story 07
Today's
December Daily® story is about the mess.
You know the mess, right? It seems to be all over around here right now - a little bit of holiday and a whole lot of regular life in our family. It's what's real in this moment.
Let's dive in to today's video:
Here are images and additional details:
Today's story home is a foundation page I set up before December. I used two journal cards I created for our
Prep Day this year (during one hour Laura Wonsik and I created ten journal cards each using stamps from this year's collection as the jumping off point).
One of these journal cards is a shaker pocket made out of a 3 inch x 4 inch page protector that holds three tags with twine and the other is a journal card with gold embossed/stamped numbers 1-7.
Something I love about this particular foundation page set up is that
ANY story could be substituted here. The base is holiday and from there it's up to you to add a story.
On top of the shaker pocket (which also includes a couple embossed circle stamped sentiments + sequins from The Diary Of Belle Rose) I added the
glitter cardstock word believe + a puffy Santa + a custom printed phrase "it's a big mess."
On top of two of the tags I added photos of a couple messes around here. These photos were cropped to 1.5 inch x 2.5 inches and adhered onto the stamped tags. On top of the photos I added phrase stickers and added a red embroidery stitch. That little bit of stitching is my favorite.
On the journal card I stamped "it's a mess" using our
Redwoods ink + Typewriter Alpha before adding in my journaling. It's what's real around here right now! The little red label is from a Tim Holtz sticker set.
I loved using this piece of vellum as the foundation for these two squares. Along the bottom I added
rub ons from Tim Holtz.

December Daily® 2022 | Story 06
Today's short little December Daily® story is about taking Audrey + Anna to get dresses and shoes for some upcoming events.
My encouragement to you today: Look for the stories that are meaningful to you.
Some might be big and others might be small and some might simply be about grabbing dinner at the mall after volleyball practice.
Let's dive in to today's video:
Here's a look at the spread in my album:
Today I'm pairing the beautiful gold foil paper from the Paislee Press kit with a full page of vellum and two, 4 inch x 4 inch squares on top (one photo and one journaling card from the Main Kit).
I loved that text pattern from the Paislee Press Kit so much. If you missed out on that kit you can get the digital version here.
On top of the pattern paper I added a white felt number six from a previous year's kit. I love that when you look through my past albums the various numbers show up year after year in one or two spots. I also added one of the layered Santa's from this year's Main Kit. On top of the Santa I added one of the vellum phrases using red line tape.
I had this second page set up in my foundation pages, knowing I would likely add a 4 inch x 4 inch photo to go along with the journaling card.
Before adhering the photo and journal card to the vellum I ran both through my sewing machine to add a red stitched border. Above the photo I also added one of the gold tab stickers.
Along the bottom I added some white rub ons from Tim Holtz (linked to a similar set).

December Daily® 2022 | Story 05
Welcome to Story 05 in my 2022
December Daily® project.
For today's story I made a list of five things I'm loving right now at the start of the season and played around with creating a custom texture paste transparency in a half-circle shape.
Let's dive into the video:
Here are additional images + details:
I started this page with a half circle photo of my feet in front our our partially decorated tree. I edited and cropped my photo and printed it 5 inches wide x 9 inches tall (that gave me enough extra to play around with before trimming) and then used the shaker page from yesterday as a template to cut my photo to the correct shape.
I love how this turned out!
Before adhering my photo to the shaker page I added a sticker tab to the back. On top of the photo I added a
canvas phrase and one small red embroidery stitch on top before adhering with red line tape.
To create a home for my felt number 5 I first cut out the black and white outline border from the original die cut half page.
To create the custom textured transparency I used the Santa Stencil on top of a
transparency and added Liquitex Texture Paste using a palette knife on top. If you don't want to make your own transparency this would be a great place for a pattern vellum or pattern transparency.
Have you seen our post from Kelly Ishmael that includes a DIY Stencil Tutorial? Check it out here.
After the transparency + texture paste dried I adhered the half circle border using rolling adhesive and cut off the excess around the outside. I attached the felt number five with a bit of red embroidery thread.
Texture paste is so fun! If you don't want it white you can always mix in some acrylic paint.
After the half circle pages I've got the fun
"let me count the ways" pattern paper from our Numbers Scrapbook Kit.
I also printed
the digital version of the half circle page in order to have a border on the back side. You could easily cut a pattern paper to this shape if you don't have the digital version of that design. Did you know that the digital package for the die cut page inserts includes Silhouette files + .svg files? Super easy to cut on a die cutting machine too.
I used the
Double Alpha Stamp Set for the word "loving" and then added my journaling using a Uniball Vision Elite pen.
Along the outside edges of the pattern paper I added a fun new
scallop washi tape from Doodlebug.
To finish it all off I added a couple
small mirrored stars from Tim Holtz.

December Daily® 2022 | Story 04
Welcome back to my December Daily® album for 2022. Story four is simply documenting a bit about our Sunday morning yesterday.
Slow Sunday mornings for the win!
In today's video I share a closer look at my photo editing process and how I add text to my image before printing. If you want to learn more about working with digital products to create paper projects check out the following:
Create With Canva: Taught by Kim Hurst this workshop takes you though the basics of working with Canva for scrapbooking. It also includes a fun digital kit that you can use to practice the skills you learn in the workshop. All our workshops are go-at-your-own-pace. Hybrid: Join me for a fun, creative online workshop focused on the basics of hybrid scrapbooking. Hybrid scrapbooking pairs printed digital products such embellishments, brushes + layered templates from your computer with traditional scrapbooking products. Over the four weeks Ali will walk you through her favorite ways to use printed digital products to get more of your stories told.
Let's dive in to today's process video:
Here's a closer look at the final project + additional details:
This might end up being the year of shaker pockets + hand stitching. I'm loving both!
For today's story I decided to add text + a title directly to my photo before printing it out and adhering in to the back of my third story. Along with that full page photo I used one of the 1/2 circle die cuts to create another shaker page using awesome sequins from The Diary Of Bell Rose (I think she just did a restock if you haven't had a chance to check out her cute shop before).
In today's video I show how I edit my photo, add text, and add the title.
You can download the Sunday Morning word art here.
To create this shaker page I cut up a page protector and stitched it on top of the 1/2 circle paper. Insider the pocket I added the super fun sequin pack (loved how there was a little blue in there to go with the four and with Simon's shirt in the photo). I also added an Avery Index tab along the edge of the photo and one of the vellum strips from the Main Kit along the bottom of the photo.
To bring the two pages together I adhered one of the tiny peppermint sequins onto one of the larger pieces and added that on top of my photo to dot the "I" in morning.

December Daily® 2022 | Story 03
Story 03 in my 2022 December Daily® album is about the amaryllis + paperwhite bulbs blooming in our house.
Today's foundation page is one that was shared in our December Daily® Product Play workshop. It's not too late to check out the content from this workshop that included 30 ideas featuring 10 different products we release with our collection this year. This page is also a great example of why I love doing some of these pages in advance and then simply being able to add my photos and words to the already mostly constructed page.
Let's dive in to the video:
Here are images of my completed story:
This page includes a full page of pattern paper with embellishment circles attached to a piece of pom ribbon paired with a second page that includes flip open windows to hold journaling. I filled the large chipboard circles with 3 inch photos.
I also went ahead and adhered most of the elements to the pattern paper because they were swinging all over the place each time I turned the page.
I added a Tim Holtz rub on to the middle of one of the photos.
The second page in this spread uses the blocked pattern paper from the Main Kit (or add on paper pack) as it's base. I cut out three of the squares to create a larger window to hold my journaling which tells the story of these beautiful blooms.
I added 2 inch x 2 inch photos to the backs of the windows to tell a little more of the story visually.
I loved being able to add a few more photos that show the flowers at different points in the growing process.
