Hand Gestures You Need to Know

Wave All Your Fingers at Your Neighbors Day.

Yes, today is another strange day, so kindly, wave at your neighbor. Not that way, even if you are mad, just use all your fingers.

Hand gestures have been a form of communication since man was on this earth. Without speech, we used hand gestures. Even with speech we still use our hands. Here are some ways that are good and some not so good ways to use your hands, but not today. Keep it for another day. Behave!

Clenched fist: is used as a gesture of...

Do You Love Me or Are You Unhappy?

Dear Baba Rumcake,

Would you have a relationship with someone if you believed they would be unhappy with you?

If you love them and want them, but you think they'd be happier if you didn't have a relationship with them…would you do it anyway?

Despondent in Danville

Dear Despondent,

There is an older funny movie with Bruce Willis and lovely Kim Bassinger, I suggest you see that flick. It will explain some of your questions.

On the other hand, it sounds to me like you are a selfish, self...

Lonely, Room Mate Wanted?

Dear Baba Rumcake,

Not sure if you have lived on your own for awhile? No roommates, no bf/gfs. just on your own. Did you enjoy it? Were you happier when you found someone to move in with you? Did you get lonely often?

Lonesome in Lancaster

Dear LiL,

These questions are all very relative. The answers depend a great deal on the individual. If you are a social animal, as many of us are, living alone can feel like a prison sentence. However, there are also many people out there who embrace the...

Below are reasons to dump the jerk in your life. It could be a man or a woman. Don't be sexist. Just because, it is a jerk, does not mean, just men, it could be a jerk woman; i.e. BITCH. If they do any or a combination of the following things, then today is:

Dump Your Significant Jerk Day!

10 Must Reads According To Me!

10 Books You Can Sink Your Teeth Into

My recommendations are all different and widespread in type and style. Good writing, varied and divergent.

VOX by Nicholson Baker

A man and a woman, call each other, over an adult phone line. They provoke each other sexually, they entice one another. This is a novel where we eavesdrop on them and listen in to their private conversations. Well written. Do not get offended.

Julie and Julia by Julie Powell
A charming, endearing novel of striving do what you can ...

The Big D, File or Not File?

Dear Baba Rumcake,

Moved out a year ago. I am paralyzed in trying to make a decision to file. I can't even use the word. What do I do?

Indecisive in Independence

Dear Indecisive,

If you moved out of the schmuck's house, I assume, he is not worth keeping. You made the first move now take the next step and set yourself free.

If I don't wear something for six months, I give it away, throw it out or sell it. A year is a long time, to hang on to something that is way past its use.

Take the...

Because I'm Worth It?

One of the worst slogans the media came up with for women is "Because I'm worth it!" Shame on you! Shame on the manipulative advertising whores who use psycho analysis of self worth to manipulate and exploit the young and the weak. A continuous reassurance of our self centered, egotistical evolution from caring human beings to arrogant spoilt bitches.

It is a criminal master mind who came up with this trite that has been taken up and spewed out all over our television screens. The Mad Men who ...

Alone should not mean lonely!

Dear Baba Rumcake,

Hi! How does one get past the lonely feelings?

Divorced Dan in Durham

Dear Divorced,

You can be alone, but not lonely. You need to learn to be by yourself. Your question implies that you have not learned to be by yourself, for any length of time.

Learning to be alone is an art, worth exploring. Join a Yoga group. Learn to meditate. Join a singles club. Get out, have coffee and engage with strangers.

People who cannot be alone, generally, do not like themselves. When you like ...

Love What You Do!

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." –

  —  Confucius

I did not realize the truth of that statement and wisdom until today. About a month ago, I decided to quit my technical, well paying job and place my undivided attention to writing and reading.

It has been a month now; with days, I have spent wondering, if I did the wrong thing. Days wondering if I am working. Wondering when I should start doing what I set out to do. Suddenly, holding this incredible b...

Failing Kindergarten! Now what?

Dear Baba Rumcake,

I'm crazy about this girl, who won't have me.

Or, rather, she won't have me, again.

But I've got a gf. I shouldn't even want, anyone else. The gf is a good person, attractive, sweet. The passion is understated, though. And, I think she's got some deep seated issues. She's very quiet.

Is being excited about someone a turnoff for them? I never seem to get the ones I'm excited about.

Wanting in Wichita

Dear Wanting,

I did not miss the word 'again' in your note. You need to be...
