Author Interview with Allan Douglas

Image of Author Allan Douglas Let's Start With Your Name?

I write under the pen name of Allan Douglas.  I make no secret of the fact that I use a pen name, and I do so for the same reason that Archibald Leach chose to be known to his fans as Cary Grant.  It's easier to remember and sounds more artistic.  In my case I use my first and middle names reversed, so those who know me personally, and like me anyway, call me Doug.

Bridges, A Tale of Niagara Review

Bridges, A Tale of NiagaraExcellent book. Chock full of friendship, growing up and adventure. Well written and touching. It reminded me of Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues. The boys in Bridges were full of the piss and vinegar of the curious and the ignorant. But, by the end of their hardship, they had grown and their friendships solidified. Very good read.

It was written with a love for the area that allowed me to see it in a new light as I read of the beauty and the danger of it all. A wonderful book for the young at ...

Ceasing to Alleviate Her Fears….

Wednesday Words to Use and Peruse

Words are the most precious commodity a writer has to express feelings, situations, people, thought or place. Nothing is more frustrating and beautiful than words. Spoken out loud, they have a generous tenor but written they have to be concise, correct and written well. The spoken word may have its charm and the mistakes we make are lovely but not in writing.

Wrong spelling, wrong punctuation or wrong grammar sets one apart from the riffraff of the present day ...

District 9 Amazing Wonderful

District 9 is an older movie that has not received the acclaim that it deserves with the general public. The derogatory term "Prawns" is used ot describe these aliens who are just trying to survive on this planter that they got stranded on. Their ship got damaged and they hovered over South Africa settling down in ghettos.
The government tries to move them and issue eviction notices from their shanty town since the city people are complaining of their presence in the middle of civilization...

The Birth of Venus Review

OMG what an amazing story of a woman made to marry another besides the one she loves. Her husband is good to her within reason but has his own shameful secrets. Her brother, a terror always in her life. Family secrets and lies. And art in every corner, description of frescoes and churches beautifully done. Beautifully written with lots of surprises. Loved it. Will certainly read it again.
