Just in Time for Wimbledon
Didn't know when I drew this strip that it would run so close to Wimbledon. But hey, there you go. Have a great Fourth. I'll have some more pen reviews next week.
Catch this Podcast!
A quick note about tomorrow night's TGT podcast. The great Dave Reddick is on so don't miss it. Details here:

Pens and Princes
First up, here's a shot of the contents of a gift package from the Pen Addict at Jetpens.com, Brad. Need to send them a big thank you. I'll post reviews of the individual products next week (mostly because readership will be low over the holiday).
Next up is a Calendar from my publisher. Pretty cool especially since they gave my book October. I don't think that has anything to do with the release date, which is still slated for Dec. 6th and which you can still pre-order here:
Pre-Order "The Prince's New Pet" on Amazon.

Avenging Spider-Man
Well, I'm actually excited about a Spidey title. I don't read a lot from the "big two" publishers. Just all the Batman titles and that's about it (I'll leave this open ended as I am planning on checking out most of DC's launches). Most everything else I read is based on the artist, so yes I have everything by McFarlane, Capullo, Liefeld and a few others who I adore.
But you put Joe Mad on a book and I buy it that's it. Even if it's a Spidey book. Nothing against the webslinger but honestly I haven't read any arachnid comics in years.

A little lead review
I also snagged a pack of the Uni high density lead from jetpens.com.
I just started using it a few days ago, but so far it does seem to be a bit sturdier than normal lead, and I'm using the .3.
My .5 blue leads snap with the frequency of a 4th of July fireworks show. Granted, part of that is too much pressure on my part. Still, I think I'll be using the Uni HD lead going forward. Here's hoping it eventually comes in blue.

Pen…er…Mechanical Pencil Review
If you've read previous posts, you know I'm fond of the Kuru Toga pencils. Now while I'm not completely sold on the whole rotating lead mechanism, I still love how these pencils handle.
This model is the high grade version. I have the base model and one of the gel grips (awesome!), but I needed a .3 pencil for more detailed work, and it only comes in the high grade pencil.
So far it performs just as outstanding as the other two, and it my primary sketching pencil. The metal grip is a bit slickery, although it does help as I am making a conscious effort to loosen my grip.
It is nice to have a stable full of one brand of pencil. And to be honest, unless I see some stellar review (in which it is claimed a unicorn plays alto sax every time you draw with it) on another brand of pencil, I'm staying with the Togas.
You can pick one up here:

Today's strip plus car show pics.
Just got back from the local car show. First time going, which is sad considering it's two minutes down the road and this was the tenth show. Below are the few pics I took. I was a bit shell shocked for the first half hour so I didn't grab any shots of the Mustangs.
The next few photos are of a Jeep Wileys. My wife inherited one from her father and we'll hopefully start restoring it after the move.
And I had to include a photo of the lunch menu. Now these are hot dogs.

New Pen Review
My latest re-supply order came in from Jetpens.com (where else would it come from?) this week. Most of it was just replacing stuff I use now. The one new addition was a Uni-ball Signo RT UM-138 Gel Ink Pen. Black ink and a .38 tip, as I like the thinner micro pens. I got one to compare to the Pilot .38 pen and put them in a doodling death match.
The verdict? I still prefer the Pilot, but just barely. The only real difference is the smoothness. The Uni is a bit scratchier than the Pilot, which might be preferable to some writers.
The Uni is a fantastic pen for writing and an exceptional pen for sketching. It's a keeper, yet when it empties, I think I'll just re-order more of the Pilots.
