Started up the "making of a picture book" posts over at The Prince's New Pet. Go on and check it out. Not much there now, but it'll be growing over the next few months.

Another Favorite Illustrator

Comic

What can I say about Brandon Dorman, other than if he does a book cover, I buy the book.

I've always dreamed of having him illustrate the cover of one of my books. Maybe some day.

Swing by his blog and just enjoy the beauty of his work. And buy the books he's illustrated. Trust me, they're good reads:

Sharing some inspiration

Comic

Thought I'd share some of my more recent influences. If you've read this blog or follow me on twitter, you know my early favs were almost anyone from Image comics.

But I'm always scouring the web for art I adore. Here's an artist I stumbled on a while back and I can't stare at his work enough. Also, I believe he's jumping over to DC to take over some guy with a red cape. Whatever.

Game of Thrones BBQ

Comic

Had to share this image I found on my favorite blog about my favorite show (after Doctor Who and SGU of course).

And if you don't read Super Punch yet, you should. It's pure awesomeness concentrate.

And here's the pitch…

Comic

A side note on "The Conjurers" project. The pitch for the webcomic and novel is off to my agent. I think, initially it'll be a bit of a confusing concept for publishers. This is the first time someone's creating a webcomic companion for a prose novel. And mainstream book publishers, who are relatively new to anything comics related, are just now truly getting a grasp on what a Graphic Novel is.

Unfortunately, then, anything that looks like, sounds like or waddles like a comic must then be a graphic novel. I don't even think the word "webcomic" is in their vernacular. Hopefully though the novel stands on its own. Really, I don't even need a publisher to be aware of the webcomic. It would be nice though if the project happens upon an editor who might recognize a unique opportunity.

And I'll make the official launch date announcement for the webcomic on theconjurers.com soon.

Changin' the Workflow

Comic

It is finally time to phase out my desktop computer. As it is now, I work on my laptop. The desktop is for scanning, printing and storage of files. It's old, ancient in computer years, but it has survived a lot. Granted, I keep it physically and virtually clean.

Now, after getting hit with that nasty Windows Security Virus and spending two days routing through registries and such, I've decided that was the sign to update my little home network. I'll start small. Instead of just ordering a new stallion of a laptop to bring into the stable, I'm going to order up a 2T external drive. Hook that up to the laptop, get backblaze and Carbonite backing up everything, then that drive will store all the original files for DeD.

Nice and simple. I'll keep the old tower as a hobby PC and see what I can build out of it.

Spyware Blues

Comic

A full day gone repairing both computers. Thought I had the malware licked yesterday, but I missed a single spore and it reproduced into an angrier mutant version this morning. Everything is working almost normally now, and as a bonus, quite a bit faster now. Kind of a forced spring cleaning for the PC's.
