Story for the Day: Iraiya

There are some women who like to be subserviant. And then, there is Iraiya.

Iraiya was bade to serve them, and when each plate was graced with something and every teacup was filled, she came to Ladrei's side and sat on her knees. She was given quiet and warm commendation for the preparations she made in their guests' honour, was grazed beneath her chin, was cooed at by her master, was fed and kissed, and she eagerly awaited her next command.                Kai Linaa smiled at their odd...

Story for the Day: A Return Celebration

A Return Celebration                 Unghaahi and Kai Linaa were enjoying the tranquilities that the open sea afforded them. Their return journey north after their few months' absence in Frewyn was of easy and measure tenor, treating the assent to their home in the islands as another holiday rather than a mere voyage. The days were spent on the main deck with Kai Linaa sketching away with her charcoals and pressed powders and with Unghaahi practicing his kaatas while doing his utmost to...

Story for the Day: The Anniversary Cake

The Anniversary Cake

Anniversaries in Frewyn were regarded by some to be somewhat of an absurdity, not due to any evil the day or the commanded celebration might produce, but to the enforced nature of such a day when it was completely undue. It was a day men that men were ever being urged to remember and a day that women were never allowing them to forget. It was not by any default of character that women and men had differing opinions on this subject, but it was on...

Story for the Day: The Galleisian Singing Hall

The Galleisian Singing Hall                  Although High Lord Dobhin had been dividing his time between the home of his good lady and the barracks, he did have the occasion to frequent several of the various amusement halls during the evenings with his recruits, and though he found the chief of his regiment far too young and insipid to appreciate his conversancy, seeing them grow imprudent in their more uninhibited states was more the amusement than the ventures themselves. span

Cake on Sanhedhran

Sweets in general are a rarity on the islands. There are cakes called Atassna made for Ataas Traala ceremonies but these are not as sweet cakes we have here. Cake, however, has been on the islands once. A tradesman from Lucentia had brought cake to the islands claiming that it was a valuable commodity on the mainland. After tasting it, Unghaahi disagreed and asked that it never again be brought to the islands. Rautu lamented this day as the day the islands lost all hope of ever having the glor...

Story for the Day: The Thief

Here is a moment from book 8, as requested by readers over Twitter:
The Thief                 Mureadh had been safely installed at the Haven as Rithea's new companion and Tiulaine's keeper, and now that Teague had completed his task of infiltration with great success, it was time for him to leave his intimate friend to the Head Cleric and to the auspices of the tranquil Barellynn. He was pleased that Mureadh had remarked the small village to be most similar to him home of Karnwyl to the south ...

18,000 viewers and a new cover

Well.

Since the books are being republished by Red Willow Press, I thought we should have a slightly different cover. I was thinking that since the rest of the series had black and white covers, I would make the first one black and white as well. What do you think?

The site hit 18,000 viewers today. Thanks everyone for visiting!
