Under the Weather: Sticky Pictures and Gifs

 So.
Even though this week marks the release of "The Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu", I have been very ill in the past few days probably due to the agonizing notion of the book never being read. To cheer me up and accompany through my high fever and immense aches, Twisk made me some sticky pictures and gifs from my stupid drawings to make me feel better.

This one was made after I found a picture with butterfly party straws. I said they were made for Rautu. He constantly denies liking anythin...

Story for the Day: Guilty Pleasures

Feeling very ill today, which is rare for me. Needed to write a funny story.

Guilty Pleasures                 Night soon fell in the capital and most of those in the castle keep had finally succumbed to sleep. The gaiety of the day had been light and easy, and everyone had felt it a excellent time. There was one, however, whose sense of delight had not yet been fulfilled and whose keenness to end the day on a more revelrous note was yet apparent.                Alasdair had volunteered to...

"The Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu" Prologue

In honour of the book's release this week, here for you is the prologue. Enjoy!

The Haanta – Prologue                 Boudicca MacDaede was not the most striking of women, but she had a wryness in character and heartiness in form that recommended her to the rough demands of a farmer's daughter and a soldier's sufferance. She was decided in her manner, favouring mockery over anxiety in the most trying of situations. Born on the farmsteads of western Tyferrim, she was made to understand the...

Story for the Day: Parent's Day Pie

Alasdair is terrified of gaining weight. He cannot resist two things: guilt and rhubarb pie.
Parent's Day Pie                 At the coming of Frewyn's spring was Tuismhuir Siaerla, the holiday celebrating all triumphs of parents and amending all the pains of parenthood. It was a holiday rarely commemorated correctly unless forced, and those who chose to venerate their mothers and father of their own volition made the festivities tasteful and personal rather than overdone and contrived. The M...

Story for the Day: The Amandine

I had another story I was going to post, but this one just happened and I had to write it.
The Amandine                 A shipment of buttered rolls and pastries arrived at the keep in the evening. Half of the shipment filled with deleterious yet delectable treats was for the Den Asaan and the other was for the regiments to eat on Gods Day morning. The enjoyment and crispiness of a toasted butter roll was but a small allowance to be given them for a day given free from their training, and...

Story for the Day: Useless

Useless                 Kai Linaa sat with a most dejected countenance and fulfilled her office of preparing bandages for the coming altercation. No harm was to be expected, as Varron's plan was known to them, and though Kai Linaa had always enjoyed her role as healer whether by use of magic or otherwise, she could not be pleased at being left to look after one who had been used to look after himself. She could not deny that Unghaahi would probably need no saving, and she must acknowledge h...

Story for the Day: Hair Loss

If Alasdair ever went bald, I think he'd kill himself.
Hair Loss The commander, Teague and Den Asaan returned to Diras in the evening, Teague to give his assessment of their inspection to the king and Rautu to do the same in his letters to his brother. The giant would spend only a few moments writing all the necessary minutiae of their visit to Frewyn's afamed trade port before resuming his patrol, but the commander, being otherwise disengaged for the few moments' repose, went to the...
