Story for the Day: Reading

I bought a few books this week. Because of my rampant dyslexia, I dislike reading aloud. Someone, however, doesn't care and asks me to read anyway.

Reading                 The festivities for the evening over, Soledhan was eager to read his newest acquisition. He was more intrigued by the images of Sanhedhran creatures portrayed on the covers more than he was of the story boasted of between them, but even more fascinating to him was the notion that Kai Linaa had drawn them. He had been used ...

Story of the Day: A Cook's Envy

I have seen many guys do this. Do not; you will not have sex for a week if you do.
A Cook's Envy              Martje's stand-in   The children were gathered and brought to their table in the kitchen while adults convened about the large table near the window. Aiden, Adaoire and Sheamas populated one corner of the room, enjoying their soft leather chairs and relishing in what they would consider to be an excellent sit after so long a day; Jaicobh and Shayne sat together near the ovens to...

Story of the Day: A View of Diras

A View of Diras                 Evening prevailed over the Frewyn capital, and with the imminence of dusk, Diras became animated with the last bustle before the closures of gloaming. Shoppes placed their last wares of the day at more attractive prices, traders bought and sold the last of their stock, children in the yard of the church were being gathered for their supper, the bells in the chapel rang through the square, the Diras regiment began its patrol of the capital walls, and the peace ...

Story of the Day: Commander and Den Asaan Vol 2 Excerpt

To celebrate the week of the tour, here is an excerpt from Vol 2 of The Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu.

Something new to honour his rank as king was needed to suppress his sentiments. Perhaps a mantle could be added, a long one of evergreen baize to mark his position as general over the Frewyn armed forces. This would do well to raise his spirits and perhaps make him seem more prominent to his troops, but as he turned from the mirror to venture toward the servants quarter in quest of...

Story of the Day: Alasdair and Dobhin

King Alasdair and High Lord Dobhin have a long-standing rivalry. Even in letters, Dobhin manages to irk Alasdair.

King Alasdair Brennin
The commander now thought it advisable to tell Alasdair of his endearing silliness and left the table resolved to leave the remainder of her letters until tomorrow and left the commons while giving a smirking, backward glance to her mate, who was half asleep and sprawled in his chair before the fire. She simpered as she descended the winding stair to the...

Story for the Day: A Commander's Correspondence

In honour of the Haanta Series tour going on this week, here is a preview from book 2: From Frewyn to Sanhedhran.
A Commander's Correspondence

Direction: Marridon, capital, Chambers, Her Grace, the Duchess of Marridon.
My dearest Jaina,

Do not pretend that I, one of so feeble a character, am equal to writing to a duchess. Because you have so kindly charged me with this office, however, I shall endeavor not to disappoint your fancies. We are all of us well as you left us with a few...

22,000 readers - Special Story

In honour of the Haanta Series reaching 22,000 readers, here is a small piece from a future novel. I won't tell you which one. You'll have to read along to find out.
Inseparable

The requisite yawns accompanied the decision to rest for the evening. Although Sheamas was hesitant to be disturbed from the slump of his favourite chair, he was forced on exertion to stand and chase after his son, who was scampering after Soledhan's cat as it trotted through the kitchen and into...

Commander and Den Asaan Vol 2 - excerpt

Here to celebrate the Friday stop on the tour, a small excerpt from Commander and Den Asaan Vol 2

"As Ghelbhi marched along with the joined regiments, she felt the powered snow nestle between her toes. Although the damp coldness was a discomfort, she did not attend it; she was far too rapt with her feelings of inclusion to mind. To be permitted to use her abilities unchecked with the viability of doing well for Frewyn and the reward that should follow expatiated her enchantment of such a...

Extra story: A First Time

It's been a tough day. Here's an extra story for fun- a continuation of Rithea and Bryeison.
A First Time                 They placed Arhon in his stall at the castle stables and bid their friend a good evening as they planned to walk back to the guest quarter, but this time instead of Bryeison escorting Rithea by the arm, he took her hand and strode beside her. He made no effort to conceal his motions and even gave them more attention by gazing at her with expectant looks.              &nbsp...
