We’ve found this Reusable Snack Pouch Sewing Tutorial by Silvia Sutters over at the BERNINA We All Sew Blog. We’ve modified this project to include two fabrics per pouch; an outer fabric and an inner fabric.

Reusable Fabric Snack Pouch Sewing Supplies List

1/2 yd each two or more assorted Farmer’s Market Fruits & Veggies Fabrics

Clover’s Supersize 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge

Four Cones Coordinating Serger Cone Threads

Schmetz ELx 705 Serger Needles Size 80/12

4-Thread Serger Sewing Machine, such as a bernette b64 AIRLOCK Overlocker

Double-Eyed Needle

Optional: Clover’s Wonder Clips

Cut Fabrics for each pouch:

Cut one 7-1/2″ x 15-1/2″ rectangle for outside fabric.Cut one 7-1/2″ x 15-1/2″ rectangle for inner lining fabric.

Set serger for a standard 4-thread overlock seam and insert a new Schmetz ELx 705 Serger Needles Size 80/12 .Place one outer rectangle and one inner rectangle wrong sides together. Stitch short edges along top and bottom of each pouch.

Fold pouch bottom up 6-3/4″. Starting at the bottom, stitch along one side, stopping at pouch center.

Fold pouch top down 2-1/4″ over bottom pouch and continue stitching entire side seam. Repeat steps on remaining pouch side.Use a Double-Eyed Needle to re-thread serger tails into previous stitched seams.

Prepare your fabrics! Pre-shrink fabrics by steaming and pressing. Then, stabilize fabrics for the sewing process by pressing and starching fabrics with Quilter’s Starch Savvy.

Quilt As You Go:  Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt has three different block designs; Courthouse Square Block, Cornerstone Block, and Cabin on Point Block. Today, we’re illustrating Courthouse Square!

 

  Follow the fabric placement photo, along with the instructions included with our Exclusive Quilt As You Go: Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt Bundle Box by the Stitch it! Sisters. We’re using Sew Bloom Collection, by Cherry Guidry of Contempo Studio for Benartex!

We’ve arranged our layout as shown:

Assemble Quilt As You Go:  Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt

Place wrong side of backing fabric on  (unprinted) side of batting. Make sure backing fabric completely covers printed area.Baste stitch around outside perimeter pattern line.

 

Use June Tailor’s Quilt Basting Spray to spray baste batting to backing fabric!

Use June Tailor’s Fabric Glue Stick to hold piece one in place. Place piece one – 3-1/2″ x  3-1/2″ right side up.

Printed lines are for placement only and are not stitching lines!

Place 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ rectangle – two, onto piece one – one, right side together. Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.

Continue to place rectangles and triangles by number, right sides together with previous pieces and aligning with placement lines.Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.Flip pieces right side up.Use June Tailors Magic Seam Wand  to press seam open.

Assemble Quilt

Prepare quilt blocks by pressing and starching and trimming all blocks to 14-1/2″ x 14-1/2″ square.Layout block rows as shown below, or you’re the designer–you may choose your quilt block layout!

Attach Sash in a Dash

Cut eight, 15-1/2″ Sash-In-A-Dash strips for vertical sashing.Cut three 47″ Sash-In-A-Dash strips for horizontal sashing.

 

Optional: Using Clover’s 3/4″ Bias Tape Maker and create folded accent fabric strips for a coordinating sashing accent!

Place blocks into 15-1/2″ vertical sashing strips. Pin.Stitch through all three layers close to the outside edge of Sash-In-A-Dash.

Stitch Blocks together creating four rows of three blocks each.Optional: Topstitch 3/4″ folded fabric strips over center of each vertical Sash-In-A-Dash!

Place block rows into 47″ horizontal Sash-In-A-Dash, pin and stitch.Optional: Topstitch 3/4″ folded fabric strips over center of each horizontal Sash-In-A-Dash!Repeat steps above and assemble the Quilt As You Go: Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt!

With the sewing tutorial, below, you’ll be able to create regulation-size bags as set by the American Cornhole Organization. If you’re going to play the game, you’d better be official 🙂

Bean Bags/Cornhole Bags/Bean Bag Sewing Tutorial Supplies Listing 1/4 yard each of two or more  Cotton Canvas Fabric Colors Quality feed corn, 15 oz. for each corn bag (or use 15 oz. dried beans) Clover’s 5-1/8″ Bordeaux Ultimate Scissors Clover’s Flower Head Pins Clover’s 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge or Clover’s Hot Ruler Clover’s Point 2 Point Turner Clover’s Wonder Clips Clover’s Hand-Sewing Needles with Heart-Shaped Case 45 mm Rotary Cutter, Cutting Mat, and Rotary Cutting Ruler Zipper foot Schmetz Denim Needle Sz. 90 IronOptional: NEW! Totally Tubular Pressing Station by dime      If you opt to use novelty print cotton quilting fabrics for your bean bags, be sure to underline the cotton squares with Cotton Canvas – for durability. CreateFor each bag, using a rotary cuter, cut two squares of canvas fabric 7″ x 7″.

Use the  Clover’s 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge or Clover’s Hot Ruler to measure a 1/2″ hem on one edge of each square.Press hem toward inside of square, prior to stitching edges. Match right sides and use a 1/2″ seam allowance to stitch one edge of the square using a Schmetz Denim Needle .Stitch seams twice, or choose a double-stitch decorative built-in stitch on your sewing machine. “Wrap” the corners: Fold  Canvas Fabric along the stitching line – at corner; pin. Stitch seam starting at fold, using a 1/2″ seam allowance.Fold seam along stitching line and sew the remaining seam, using a 1/2″ seam allowance.

 

Press canvas bag envelope around a sleeve board, or with the Totally Tubular Pressing Station by dime.

Press seam allowances open along top edge.Using a scissors, grade seam allowances, removing a small rectangles of fabric within the seam allowance. This helps reduce bulk within the seams. 

Refold top 1/2″ pressed seam allowance.Press again.

Totally Tubular Pressing Station by dime available at ShopNZP.com.

Turn canvas bag right side out.Use  Clover’s Point 2 Point Turner to push out the corners.Press.
Fill canvas bag with 15 oz. of corn.

Pin  pressed top folded edges, placing pins parallel to the fold.Optional: Use a hand sewing needle to sew a long basting stitch along the top edge, to hold the corn in place when you move to the sewing machine.

Attach a Zipper Foot to your sewing machine.Carefully sew the opening closed; removing pins as you stitch.

Optional: Use Clover’s Wonder Clips at this step for ease of pinning.

Use an anchor cloth (fabric scrap) to stitch the final seam. Reverse stitch on the fabric to secure the seam. Be sure to double stitch this seam! Then, clip away the anchor cloth. Cut Fabrics for Two June Quilt BlocksHugs & Kisses:Cut One 3-7/8″ squares from Hugs & Kisses Cupid’s Love Black Fabric.Cut One 3-7/8″ squares from Hugs & Kisses Latte Pink Fabric.Cut One 3-7/8″ squares from Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble Light Pink Fabric.

For 3-1/2″ Squares, first cut a 3-1/2″ Crosswise Fabric Strip and sub-cut 3-1/2″ squares. Label and set unused squares aside for use in upcoming months.

Cut Two 3-1/2″ squares from Hugs & Kisses Cupid’s Love Pink Fabric.Cut Two 3-1/2″ squares from Hugs & Kisses So Sweet Black Fabric.Cut Two 3-1/2″ squares from Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble Dark Pink Fabric.

 

Cut Four 3-1/2″ squares from White Background Fabric, we’re illustrating Hugs & Kisses White Fabric.Cut Six 3-7/8″ squares from Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble White Fabric.Cut Four 3-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ rectangles from Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble White Fabric.Cut Two 3-1/2″ x 12-1/2″ rectangles from Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble White Fabric. Using the Exclusive No-Hassle Triangles Ruler by Team NZP, cut block squares above.

Construct Blocks

All seam allowances are scant 1/4″ unless otherwise stated. Half-Square Triangles (HSTs)

Create 1/2-square triangle blocks from Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble White and Hugs & Kisses Cupid’s Love Black, Hugs & Kisses So Sweet Black, and Hugs & Kisses Shimmery Marble Light Pink fabrics.Align 3-7/8″ squares right sides together. Pin

Mark blocks using a Clover’s No-Hassle Triangles Gauge , and Clover’s White Marking Pen or a Frixion Marking Pen. The left side of the Clover’s No-Hassle Triangles Gauge is designated to create 1/2-square triangle quilt blocks. Depress button on sliding portion of the gauge, and move to 3-7/8″ half-square triangle setting.

With squares right sides together. Place Clover’s No-Hassle Triangles Gauge on block set, corner to corner. Match corner marks of gauge with corner of block sets. Mark fabric through center die cut openings on gauge, with Clover’s White Marking Pen or a Frixion Marking Pen. Repeat steps, marking all 3-7/8″ square block sets.

Stitch BlocksInsert a new Size 75 Schmetz Quilting Needle and attach 1/4″ Quilting Presser Foot to sewing machine.Align 1/4″ Quilting Presser Foot along one side of center mark, stitch.“Kiss” the next block set to the stitched block and chain stitch (stitching continually) from one block to the next.

Rotate blocks 180 degrees, stitch along the other side of center marked lines.

Clip threads between chain stitched blocks.

Cut blocks apart along center marked lines with a rotary cutter, ruler, and mat .

Press seams flat.Open blocks and press seams open or press towards darker fabric – using a Tailor’s Clapper to set the seams.

 

Construct Block A

Layout half-square triangle blocks, squares and rectangles as show below. Rotate blocks as needed.

Join Squares and RectanglesPlace blocks from rows right sides together, in pairs. Pin. Chain stitch from one block set to the next. Clip threads between.Press seams flat, then press open or to one side – using a Tailor’s Clapper to set the seams.Repeat steps above with bottom row.

Join Rows

Place top row to second row right sides together. Pin. Stitch.Press seams flat, then press open or to one side – using a Tailor’s Clapper to set the seams. Place third row to second row right sides together. Pin. Stitch.Press seams flat, then press open or to one side – using a Tailor’s Clapper to set the seams. Place fourth row to third row right sides together. Pin. Stitch.Press seams flat, then press open or to one side – using a Tailor’s Clapper to set the seams.Block A

You’re the designer, choose your favorite fabrics to create the Dresden Sunflower Table Mat, Team NZP chose the following.

Prepare your fabrics! Pre-shrink fabrics by steaming and pressing. Then, stabilize fabrics for the sewing process by pressing and starching fabrics with Quilter’s Starch Savvy.

For each Dresden Summer Flower Trio Table Mat, choose two coordinating fabrics, one will be Dresden wedges, one will be for center circle.

Cut 5-1/2″ Crosswise Fabric strips from all three of the chose Dresden wedges fabrics.

Layer fabrics and using the Easy Dresden Ruler Template cut twenty wedges from Dresden wedge fabrics of your choice.

Cut a total of 20 wedges per complete Dresden circle.

Fold wedges right sides together, stitch wedges 1/4″.

Chain stitch wedges together.

Using Clover’s “Quick Cut” Thread Cutter  or scissors, clip threads between wedges.

Using Clover’s Point 2 Point turner, turn points right sides out.

Using Clover’s NEW! Hot Hemmer Square, align seam and diagonal marking, press.

Repeat steps above with all wedges.

With right sides together, stitch Dresden wedges.

Continue to stitch wedges together.

Five Dresden wedges will create one quarter of the Dresden circle.Press seams open or to one side.

Use Tailor’s Clapper to set seam.

Repeat steps above to create four quarters for the Dresden circle.

Stitch top two assemblies together.Stitch bottom two assemblies together.

Stitch top and bottom assemblies together.

Create Center Circle

Cut a one 6-1/2″ square from coordinating fabric and Pellon’s ShirTailor Interfacing, right sides together, glue dots facing up.

 

We’re making a 6″ center circle.

Using Clover’s 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge and Frixion Pen create 6″ Circle.

Pin

Stitch using a short stitch around circle.

 

When using a pinking blade, cut on the back side of cutting mat.

Use a rotary pinking blade to remove excess fabric, approx. 1/4″ from stitching line.

 

Remove the excess interfacing from within the circles, leaving approx.1″ of interfacing.

Turn the interfacing to the wrong side.Use a Clover’s Point 2 Point Turner to smooth the curves.

Using June Tailor’s Eze-View Pressing Cloth press ShirTailor Interfacing to wrong side of fabric.

Center Dresden Sunflower.

 

Using Clover’s 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge, enter center circle onto sunflower assembly.

Pin and edgestitch with coordinating or monofilament thread. Choose a straight stitch, blanket stitch, or other decorative stitch.

Repeat steps above and create all three Dresden Summer Flower Trio table mats!

Add Backing

 

Team NZP chose Wool Felt for backing.

Turn table mat wrong side up.Measure the diameter from valley to valley of matching wedge.

Subtract an 1/8″ to 1/4″ from this measurement.Using Clover’s Supersize 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge and Frixion Marking Pen, create backing circle on wool felt.

Cut out backing circle.

 

Pin or use fabric glue to hold backing in place.Place backing on wrong side of sunflower table mat.

Hand stitch Wool Felt backing in place around the perimeter, catching finished points.

Your Dresden Sunflower Table Mat is complete!

Cut out desired size.Place wrong side of backing fabric on  (unprinted) side of batting. Make sure backing fabric completely covers printed area.Baste stitch around outside perimeter pattern line.

 

Use June Tailor’s Quilt Basting Spray to spray baste batting to backing fabric!

Use June Tailor’s Fabric Glue Stick to hold piece one in place. Place piece one right side up.

Printed lines are for placement only and are not stitching lines!

Place 2-1/2″ x 8″ rectangle – two, onto 2-1/2″ x 8″ rectangle – one, right side together.Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.

Flip rectangle 2 right side up.Use June Tailors Magic Seam Wand  to press seam open.

Continue to place 2-1/2″ x 8″ rectangles by number, right sides together with previous pieces and aligning with placement lines.Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.Flip rectangles right side up.Use June Tailors Magic Seam Wand  to press seam open.

Center and place 2-1/4″ x 37″ rectangles eighteen and nineteen right sides together.Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.Flip rectangles right side up.Use June Tailors Magic Seam Wand  to press seam open.

Continue to place 2-1/2″ x 8″ rectangles by number, right sides together with previous pieces and aligning with placement lines.Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.Flip rectangles right side up.Use June Tailors Magic Seam Wand  to press seam open.

 

Create Handle

Fold and press  in 1/2″ on both ends of 11″ x 4″ rectangle.

 

Use Clover’s Hot Ruler or Hot Hemmer for precise pressing!

Place cotton webbing in center of 11″ x 4″ rectangle.

Fold raw edges towards center, press.

Center handle in center of Sewing Machine Cover.Topstitch handle ends to outer Sewing Machine Cover – stitching along handle side, top, and bottom forming a stitched 1″ square with optional “X” pattern as shown.

Create Gusset

Fold Sewing Machine Cover in half right sides together.Stitch side seams.

Trim edges of fabric to meet batting.Cut out gusset.

Meet cover gusset seam, stacking side seam over lower center seam. Wonder Clip. Stitch.Repeat steps to create opposite gusset seam.

Using your favorite binding technique , bind Quilt As You Go: Sewing Machine Cover.

 

Create Sewing Machine Caddy following directions.

Create Sewing Machine Caddy Pocket

Fold caddy front to back, aligning finished edges.Using Clover’s Super Size 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge measure 6″ from fold.Stitch side seams.To make individual pockets, stitch seams as desired
