While I am certainly shy about running into celebrities at the airport, why would you be shy at a convention? I mean aren't you there to meet said celebrities and you paid good money to see them?

Yeah, but that isn’t the end of it, not everyone deals with all that input and emotion the same way.

As I said, even after ten years, I haven’t fully learned to deal with it and I am on the other side of the table!

A lot of people wrote very nice things and DMs about the post I wrote about being shy today. Thank you.

A couple people also reminded me that sometimes people who are ‘great with people’ and ‘outgoing’ are also shy inside, it’s not just us who get quiet sometimes.

Fair point, so I am just sayin’.

Is there even a glimmer of hope for my favorite, Misfit, to come back?

SPOILERS!

I think you should maybe read Batgirl #34.

Hey, Gail. I've asked this question to creators before but they've usually gotten really defensive about it. You're one of my favorite comic writers and you wrote the Secret Six with seemingly "crazy" villains, so here goes: Do you think Batman comics is h

I do, and I think I have made this mistake myself.

It’s not just Batman, for a long time, mental illness has been shorthand for ‘evil’ in comics, in the same way that any physical difference has.

In a way, it makes a character like Deadpool downright progressive at times.

I am trying to be a lot more sensitive about it. I think if you look at the Batgirl Annual #2 with Poison Ivy, or the end of my Sensation Comics story, or Burden, or even the end of my Batgirl run with Knightfall, you can see that I am trying to step on that trope.

There are ways to have bat-villains, and other villains, be scary and not resort to trivializing and stereotyping. I think a lot of writers are waking up to this. I would be very surprised if Gotham looks the same in five years.

Who All Is Going To NYCC?

Would love to know…sometimes I get a little flustered and don’t always remember people’s screen names unless I am looking at it at a computer screen. My memory is primarily visual.

So if you are coming, let me know, would love to see you!

Convention questions I get asked all the time.

No, I have no limit on the number of things I will sign, I am happy to sign whatever number of books you bring. Some of the publishers might have a limit, I don’t have any control over that. But at my table, if you bring a hundred books, I will happily sign them.

I don’t charge for signatures, photos, hugs, or scary glaring. SCARY GLARING IS FREE, YOU GUYS. :)

I will be bringing SOME scripts but I am sure I will sell out. I will definitely have my last Batgirl script and a Wonder Woman script, and I may have very limited numbers of a couple other choices. I would bring more but I am out of time.

Each script I take to a con, I print only 30. They are all signed and numbered by me, and personalized if you like. Once they sell out (and they always do), I never reprint that script again, so it’s a fun kind of rarity, as well.

I am hoping to bring a few comics and trades for people who want them but selection is always ridiculously limited to whatever I can grab on the way out (so it’s better to shop at the retailers if you are looking for particular books!).

I have a table, DD10, but I have a BUNCH of panels, signings, and meetings, so I won’t be there the entire time. I will post my schedule every day. If you missed a signing and are only going for one day, drop me a note on Twitter and I will try to get your books signed if at all possible, okay?

Please come say hi, I am really looking forward to meeting you all!

Hello Bendis, once again so happy you will be at NYCC this year, a few of us were wondering, do you know what time will tickets be handed out for your saturday evening signing? Also do you have any kind of thing with CGC that books can be dropped off with

None of my signings are ticketed events.  it is a first-come first-serve situation. the powers signing earlier in the day is as well.

for those who asked I will sign whatever you have at whatever signing I am at.

I have no relationship with CGC so you are on your own there

and you never have to apologize to me for asking me questions like this. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you.
