Will DC ever do any kind of reprints of the Birds of Prey paperbacks? Silly question, but looking at Amazon some of the volumes are kind of up there in price. Being a person who prefers books to digital and who doesn't have a lot of money, it would be awes

The out of print books from my run are ridiculously expensive to buy most places.

There is some hope!  Secret Six is now being collected in really reasonably priced collections, if the first one sells great, they will reprint the rest.

And they are doing a similar thing with Bop, starting with #1, well before my run. Hopefully, sales stay high and they will reprint the whole thing!

Princess Diana introduces her boyfriend to her mother, the Queen. From Wonder Woman #24, by Gail Simone and Bernard Chang, 2008.

My favorite bit of this is that the boyfriend isn’t above a little flattery and Hippolyta isn’t above a little ACCEPTANCE of that flattery.

SUCH a fun book to write.

Swords of Sorrow #1: Let’s Talk About Those Covers

Swords of Sorrow is here, and we at WWAC got right on it! This past weekend, Desiree, Birdi, Melinda, Wendy B, and I sat down to discuss the first issue in the female-led series that will be running from May to October.

Considering a long history of frequent sexist representation for these pulpy female characters, we cast a keen eye over the artwork for this first issue. Thus, our reviewing begins with the covers.

The main cover is by J. Scott Campbell, well-known for his T&A illustrations of female characters. Considering that Campbell’s cover is one of nine covers, all of which are pretty fantastic, we were miffed that his work landed the main cover.

Keep reading on WWAC

Some of the earliest covers were commissioned before I came aboard and a couple are pretty cheesy. But then you have spectacular covers by Robert Hack, Tula Lotay, Jenny Frison, Kate Leth, and more. And the ones coming up are even more gorgeous, holy CRAP. :)

Hi Gail! If you were given the chance to write for Mister Miracle ,would you do it? I feel Scott and Barda would really grow with you, and have Dustin Nguyen draw it.

I love Barda and Scott, and am fascinated by magicians and escape artists. Would do it in a heartbeat.

Today!

Today, Saturday, I will be at I LIKE COMICS in Vancouver, Washington, to sign books and discuss weird stuff, starting at noon. You should come by!

We have a Swords of Sorrow variant EXCLUSIVE to this store, with a gorgeous cover by Pete Woods, who will also be there to sign stuff, as well as surprise guest (and Swords of Sorrow cover artist) Robert Hack!

It’s going to be a blast. I will have scripts available, but only a limited number of monkeys. Stop by, dammit!
