So I am racking my brains to come up with Black Canary-specific or even Birds of Prey-specific villains, but aside from White Canary, I'm not sure how many others there are. Could you name a few villains who were specifically created to be villains for eit

Hmm. Some became reformed.

There was Savant, Creote, the Twelve Brothers In Silk, Sovereign Brusaw, Harvest, Black Alice, Spy Smasher…there were some more but those are off the top of my brain pan.

Did Black Alice conjure a cigarette when she channeled Constantine? XD

I have heard several people surprised by this and I have no idea why.

When she takes on another person’s powers, she also gets a version of their iconic look. We have seen it since her first appearance. If she can manifest Zatanna’s wand or Blue Devil’s trident, why not a single Silk Cut when manifesting as Constantine?

Alice doesn’t smoke in her normal life. But Constantine does, so that manifested. I am not sure why this took people so much by surprise.

It’s True…

I might have bought some Totoro, Wonder Woman, and Ultraman stuff at the Superman Toy Shop in Old Town Shanghai.

DON’T JUDGE ME.

Today, the Swords of Sorrow tie-in, SWORDS OF SORROW: VAMPIRELLA VS. JENNIFER BLOOD pits the classic girl from Drakulon against Garth Ennis’ brutal vigilante, and they have even worse stuff to worry about than each other!

Lots of pulpy fun, the most horror-oriented of our books, written by the great SUGGLASSES AFTER DARK writer, Nancy Collins!

WOOT! Pick it up, it’s a rip-snorter. :)

Today we leave Shanghai.

I am not looking forward to the flight, it’s crushingly long for us to get home (Shanghai to SF to Eugene, then ninety minutes to drive home). But worse yet is we are going to miss the friends we made here.

Our interpreter, Jo, our guest liason Erin, and superstar artist Billy Tan were all so amazingly generous and wonderful and warm.  And we keep saying it, even total strangers were ridiculously kind and lovely here. China has always been my favorite country to visit but we were completely unprepared for how beautiful and lively and moving Shanghai would be.

That’s the thing about these conventions, we always try to stay an extra couple days to see the area, and we could not possibly see even a tiny fraction of what Shanghai is about. But what a city, it’s gorgeous, the food is incredible, the people are warm and friendly, and we got to meet hundreds and hundreds of comics readers, mostly younger, mostly female, and see their fascination with American comics up close.

Incredibly privileged to have been invited here. It just makes me want to see more of China as soon as possible. I believe the con was a big success, so I hope they have lots, lots more. Because this is amazing to witness.

I know I have repeated myself a bit here but it’s overwhelming to experience. We are going to miss this place and the people here so, so much (and that one dim sum with the soup inside, holy moley that was good!).

Thank you to everyone here for being so kind. We will never forget it, nope, never.

Ever plan on coming to an Irish con?

I have been at one con and a couple signings in Ireland, and another event and signing in Northern Ireland.  But I have to be invited to attend conventions and I don’t think I have any invitations from there this year, sorry!

I get dozens of con invites each month and I lose track a little, but I don’t think I have any trips to Ireland planned this year. I dearly love it there, though! Maybe next year!
