HA the new batgirl writers will have fun writing out the killing joke with the movie coming out. I'm glad they're focusing it more around babs, it will be refreshing to see the real her again(not a watered down vessel with the sole purpose to appeal to tee
I haven’t read anything about it yet but I did speak a bit with one of the writers and she seemed very committed to doing a smart, competent Batgirl.
I don’t know about the Killing Joke thing at all.

Hi Ms. Simone. I have a complex question for you. I'm learning Auslan (the sign language of Australia) and I'd love to see a superhero that signs. But, I'm not sure how it'd be executed. How would you go about it?
Hmm.
What about the Superman gesture of fake ripping open your shirt to reveal your costume underneath?
err I meant to say... are you also discouraged to read 50 shades of gray since that started out as a twilight fanfiction?
I don’t have any interest in any of that, but specifically, I think it matters less if it’s fanfic outside of the genres a writer works in.
so if fanfiction is discouraged, are you also discouraged 50 shades of Gray? I mean people say that, that novel started out as a twilight fanfiction...
That’s not at all what I am saying.
Pro writers at the major publishers are discouraged from READING fanfic. To my knowledge, I don’t think anyone is discouraged from WRITING it.
If Gail Simone were a fictional character, which fiction would she be in?
Lego.
Have you played the Last Of Us?
I started it, but got distracted and didn’t continue.
Would you recommend reading Cass Cain's Batgirl despite it being pre-52? I've only read new-52 DC stuff.
I remember it as being really solid storytelling, really good adventure comic stuff.
don't headcanons fall into the same category as fanfictions? same could be said for captions in fanarts right?
None of it really makes much sense, really. No one has any problem with fanart.
But I gather if there were some lawsuits, we’d probably be encouraged not to look at that anymore, either.
I feel like some of your colleagues could probably benefit from reading fanfiction, tbh. Just, some of them seriously suck and I've read fanfiction with better characterization... le facepalm.
It is absolutely not a question of talent, or if someone would ‘benefit,’ it’s purely a logistical and legal issue.
It sucks, it’s not really fair, and every time I bring it up I get a ton of angry notes about it, but the publishers absolutely do discourage you from reading fanfic.
Who would you set Zinda Blake up with? I like her with Captain America for WWII time travel reasons but he's Marvel...
Aside from me?
;) I love Zinda, she’s one of the funnest characters to write.
Let’s see. Cap would be great. It’d be fun to have her with someone really modern, as well, like the new Blue Beetle or something (is he a minor? If so, I take this back, I don’t remember his age).
Although, you know, pilots, she could easily hook up with Carol Danvers!
