Revisions Conquered

Beautiful Mess in Progress
No book is perfect, but your editor can help push it closer to Perfection and further away from Beautiful Mess. She (or he) does this by making comments in a multi-page editorial/revision letter. Comments like: "I'm confused. Why can't she sleep?" or "Isn't she getting blood in her car that would incriminate her later?" or even "It's 'thong' not 'thongs.'"
Brilliant. These changes I could make, no problem. So I tackled my lovely editor's helpful editorial letter with ...

Moon Gift!!!

The honey caramel one was dreamy...
Look, y'all: my very first moon-related gift from a fan! Okay, not really a fan, but a family member. Still! These are beautiful truffles from a company in Portland called Moonstruck Chocolates. They came wrapped in a silky blue bow.
You might notice a few empty papers in the photo, so I'll go ahead and confess that I've already eaten half of them a few one of them. Yumtastic. So, Linda: thank you SO much! I wish I could hug your neck right now!
And for...

Goodbye, Shawn
R.I.P. Shawn
A few weeks ago, a friend of the family, Shawn, took his own life. My husband had plans to meet Shawn for dinner that night and was puzzled why he never showed or answered his phone calls; I don't think he ever dreamed the reason why would be something quite this devastating.

Pug pic of the day

I am dreaming of ways to make your life miserable
Okay, so a billion of you pre-ordered my book from amazon. Y'all ROCK! As promised, here's a cute pug photo. This is my fawn pug, Iorek. Yes, he was named after the polar bear in Pullman's His Dark Materials series. It's a Scandinavian name, and almost everybody pronounces it wrong. Technically, I guess it's ee-OR-eck. But we slur it into YOR-eck. A lot of folks try to stick an "L" on the front and call him Lorek. My dad calls him Oreck, like t...

Who's that listed on Amazon?
[image error]Me! Woo-hoo! KINDLING THE MOON has an ISBN and everything. That means it's real.
No cover art yet—just the infamous "no image available" picture, as seen here—but basic details are up. (Well, the product description is a bit strange, but the bones are there.) Heck, Amazon even thinks I'm being published in June, not July; perhaps I should verify that with my lovely editor. Either way, don't you want to pre-order it? KINDLING THE MOON's Amazon page
If you pre-order it, I'll start posting...

Revisions, ahoy!
Today I received my revision letter from my editor, a standard letter in the publishing business that every author gets. Luckily, the changes I need to make aren't devastating to my fragile ego. Once I make them, and she accepts them, then the book goes off to the copyeditor for all the tedious grammar and punctuation editing. It's starting to feel like a real book now.
Off to tackle my revisions!
