I Laughed, I Cried, It Became a Part of Me

Sometimes a few casual words say more than a long review. Here are some of my favorite recent comments on Goodreads about KINDLING THE MOON:

Linzi "This was bloody AWESOME! Damn book kept me up til 4am and I'm up at 7.30 – aargh. Put it on your TBR lists you won't regret it – review to follow when I've slept."

Jessica(Spinecracker) "Absolutely fantastic! Need more. Must have more."

Rhianna "This book is going on my keeper shelf!"

Julie "This. Is. Really. Good."

3500106 "This is without a doubt the most impressive urban fantasy debut...

Post-holiday Updates

Happy Tuesday! Did all you North Americans out there survive celebrations on Canada Day/Independence Day? My husband and I did the BBQ thing, lit sparklers, and watched part of a Twilight Zone marathon and a few movies: Delicatessen (so very good), Dark City (great atmosphere, but kinda boring), and the outtakes from Jackass 3D—so sad to see Ryan Dunn on screen. :(

In book/industry related news, all the RWA (Romance Writers of America) folks should be back from attending Nationals in NYC by...

They're Never Too Young . . .

"Aunt Jenn is a good writer, but is she a good printer?" (He's mastering his handwriting skills at school.)

My nephew is an arbiter of good taste, natch.

Also, I was crushed when I went to the Buckhead B&N late last night and couldn't find my book on the shelf. My sister-in-law took it upon herself to call them and complain (poor booksellers—my sis-in-law and I both used to be booksellers ourselves when we were younger, so it's not like we haven't been on the other end of phone calls like...

Release Day!

KINDLING in the wild! Myrtle Beach Books-a-Million via Anjelica on FB

Hey, y'all! My book is finally street-legal and officially published! *throws confetti* To celebrate, I'll be in a number of places today:

• I blogged (hilariously, I might add) on Pocket After Dark 10 Reasons Why KINDLING THE MOON is Awesome! Go forth and discover the awesomeness!

• I also guest blogged on (the terribly lovely UK urban fantasy author) Suzanne McLeod's blog about Authors' Mothers, and why mine was just not...

Character Artwork & Miscellany

Look, ma! I'm published!

First: Four days until my first release date! And big surprise to me, but amazon shipped pre-orders of KINDLING THE MOON before the street date. That means some of you already have it—if you ordered the mass market version, that is; ebook versions won't go live until Tuesday. I still haven't received my author copies from Simon & Schuster, but they are en route. In the meantime, the hubs ordered a copy off amazon yesterday and WE ALREADY HAVE IT. What? So crazy! ...

Reviews & Giveaway

Several nice bits and bobs to start the week:

Super nice, thoughtful review of KINDLING THE MOON here: Paranormal Book Reviews.

RT Book Reviews (who gave me both 4 stars and 4-1/2 stars in two different places) said this, among other nice things, in the current issue on newstands:

"The talent pool for the urban fantasy genre just expanded with Bennett's arrival. This is an impressive debut, which opens the door for a series that promises to be exceedingly entertaining."

Dear Author is hosting a h...

Read the first chapter

In case you missed it, I posted a PDF of the first chapter of KINDLING THE MOON under the BOOKS tab of my site. I'll leave it up until next week. I think a longer excerpt will be available on Pocket After Dark and Simon & Schuster soon. I'll post details when I have them.

Random Soup

So, it's two weeks (ish) before my release. What in the world have I been doing, you might wonder? Let's see . . . I've been answering Q&As for book bloggers & writing guest blogs (which are scheduled to start posting in late June/early July, links to come). I've also been finishing a draft of a new project (and sending to my agent), creating promo artwork (so far, so good), wondering if I have time to recreate all the artwork for my website re-haul that was lost when my last Macbook...

Nook e-book version & RT review

Couple of quick updates:

In case you've got a Nook e-reader, KINDLING THE MOON will be available from Barnes and Noble. Just as you can on the Kindle or iBook versions, you can pre-order now and it will transmit to your reading device on the on-sale date later this month. Nook version link here.

Also: I've heard through the grapevine that RT Book Reviews has given KINDLING THE MOON a 4-star review. Woo-hoo! The review itself is only available to paying customers online, but it will be featured ...

Kindling the Moon on iTunes

Are you a Mac person, hate wasting paper, and don't have an e-Reader? Okay, but are you unafraid of straining your eyes (who needs 'em anyway) and want to read my debut on your iPhone, say, under your desk while your boss drones on about sales figures? You, my friend, are in luck! KINDLING THE MOON is up for presale on iTunes. (Also available on the much easier-to-read iPad screen.)
