Shadow Reader Giveaway Winner

The winner of the copy of Sandy William's The Shadow Reader is: rissatoo. Thanks to everyone who entered. I'm going to start giving away more books on my blog. So if you didn't win, check back in again for a new giveaway.

Hope everyone's having a good week and reading something spectacular. I've read a LOT of great books recently, and I feel the burning need to shout their titles from a rooftop. If I can tear myself away from Red Dead Redemption and the plotting of my new PNR series, I'll...

Sandy Williams Q&A and Giveaway

[image error]Looking for something new to read? Last week Sandy William's urban fantasy debut, The Shadow Reader, was released, and it's garnering fabulous reviews. I recently asked Sandy a few burning questions about the book and the lovely author behind it, and here's a peek into our tête-à-tête. Hope you enjoy her answers as much as I did. Sandy is smart, funny, and sweet, and I cannot wait to dive into her book!

I've already got The Shadow Reader lined up on my Kindle, but if you haven't already...

Tiki Mug of the Week

From the Bennett Tiki Mug Collection (TM), here is Severed Zombie Hand, made by the insanely talented Munktiki team. It's one of 100, a limited run. Each one was slightly different. The cool thing about it is that it sits upright as a cool ceramic objet d′art, but flipped on its fingers, it becomes a gory mug.

Giveaway Reminders

Sandy Williams posted a giveaway and some nice words about KINDLING on her blog. (If you didn't enter, you've missed the boat on the giveaway, but keep reading below for other chances.) Sandy is super-nice and I can't wait to read her debut! She's kindly agreed to do an interview on my blog, so stay tuned for that (I'll be giving away a copy of her book, The Shadow Reader as well!)

Paranormal Haven's giveaway of KINDLING still has 20 or so days left, and it's international, so mosey on over...

Arcadia Bell-inspired Jewelry

"Do you like classic movies?" Jupe asked me.

"Sure."

"Ya know which one I'm talking about? Bride of Frankenstein? Elsa Lanchester had her hair kinda like yours. She was really the Monster's bride—Frankenstein was the doctor. People always screw that up."

Kindling the Moon

This stunning Bride necklace, along with other jewelry featuring Frankenstein's monster and the Addams Family, are currently for sale on Synde's etsy page.

Cover Art From a Writer's Viewpoint

The new cover for the second Arcadia book, SUMMONING THE NIGHT, began popping up on the web last week. In case you've missed it, here it is:

The cover artist is Tony Mauro, who also did the cover for KINDLING THE MOON. Tony creates covers for other Pocket urban fantasy/paranormal series, like Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assasins and the intriguing debut from Delilah S. Dawson, as well as additional non-Pocket series by Nalini Singh, Yasmine Galenorn, and Anya Bast, just to name a few. He is...

Flintlocks, Porcelain Heart, Circus love

(1) Research for my current writing project (I am excited beyond measure to be working on this):

I have a major girl-crush on Louise Brooks.

(2) The song that gave me chills at a concert that I attended with the hubs on Friday (the band is Opeth—Swedish metal—and the lead singer, Mikael Akerfeldt, may or may not have been a teeny bit of an inspiration for Lon at one point or another . . . along with a couple of other people):

(3) What I read this weekend (and probably my favorite read of 2011 ...

This and That

Ladies at the vet love me!

1) Remember when Pug #1 ate all that gum with xylitol and promptly poisoned himself? And I shelled out over a thousand bucks to save his neck at the animal ER? His follow-up appointment was this week. Liver test: all clear. He's healthy as a horse. Or a dog. Either way, he's healthy. See him showing off at the vet? Little bastard.

2) My family is in town this week. My dad is bringing 10 dozen eggs. They have chickens, in case you're wondering why in the world someone ...

Finished . . . for now

What's this? A caduceus? *g*

This week I delivered my edited manuscript for SUMMONING THE NIGHT. The original first draft of the manuscript was submitted to my publisher exactly a year ago. Mind you, it didn't take my editor an entire year to read the draft and write up a standard editorial letter (which varies from editor to editor, but generally suggests big-picture changes to the plot/tone/characters). But I was not her only author—she had a billion other releases to contend with during...

No Time for Love, Dr. Jones!

My sis-in-law is cooler than your sis-in-law.

I've been working insanely looooong hours to finish my revisions for SUMMONING THE NIGHT ( . . . and turning in my option for Books 3 and 4, and mentally outlining a new paranormal romance series, and thinking about reworking a book I wrote last year, AND working on new artwork for my site).

Unfortunately, I'll be continuing the same crazy pace this week, right up to the finish line. After that, I'll be taking a mini-vacation with my family (I've...
