Crazy Days

It's been a wild and crazy month – not just here, but all around the world. And as much as I'd like to complain about all the goings-on here that take up my time, it's nothing compared to what others have to deal with. Consider this latest video of the Japanese tsunami:

Kind of shrinks my gripes down to nothing. So rather than complain, I'd rather say thank you. Thank you for laughing, crying, listening, and yes, even ignoring me. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and have a...

The BEST Potato Leek Soup

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Image via Flickr

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here in the US, St. Paddy's day is pretty popular. Corned beef and cabbage and green beer will be on many people's menus tonight. Here in the DeJarnett household, our favorite Irish-inspired dish is Potato Leek Soup. We're not Irish 8( but some of my characters are (Jason McAlister and his family), so I thought I'd share the recipe in case you'd like to try it.

NOTE: I label this recipe as the BEST because it's gone over so well with everyone I know –...

Whether you have an ereader filled to the brim or are a staunch ink and paper fan, Read an Ebook Week is a milestone not to be missed.

According to readanebookweek.com, ebooks have been around for 40 years! From simple text files read on a green screen to fancy new multimedia books including video and sound, ebooks have come a long way.

I've often said that I believe paper and ink books will be around a very, very long time, but that doesn't mean that ebooks don't deserve a...

March Madness

Writing

Image via Wikipedia

Can you believe it's March already? Okay, not till tomorrow, but wow, has the year been flying by! I keep waiting for things to calm down around me, but they never seem to. Which brings me to today's title.

March Madness for me has nothing to do with basketball, but everything to do with writing. The last year was devoted to publishing and marketing, and writing took a back seat. NO MORE! My madness revolves around my goal of getting the first draft of my next book...

It's Presidents' Day here in the US, and for many, it's a holiday that includes snow, skiing, and driving. There are a few US flags flying though, so I thought I'd dig up a few fun facts about the Presidents we honor today.

While Presidents' Day honors all Presidents, it was selected because it falls near both George Washington's (our first President) and Abraham Lincoln's (our sixteenth President) birthdays.  These two men are more than historical figures, they are part o...

Public or Private Displays of Affection?

Happy Valentine's Day!

The day of love and romance means different things to different people.  To some it's all flourish with big bouquets and huge heart-shaped boxes of chocolates.  To others, it's a special note or hidden lingerie waiting to be revealed in private.  Which leads me to today's question:

What's more romantic, public or private displays of affection?

Nothing is more public than the surprise proposal during a big game or on a game show…or in the middle of a...
