The Geeky Blogger Reviews Whirlwind

Check out the Geeky Blogger's review of Whirlwind

Today's tour stop is at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

Felicia says, "This was a quick, light read with a sweet romance. Don't get me wrong the smexy scenes were hot but I thought the connection between Jason and Melissa was sweet. You could easily read this on a lazy summer afternoon." She encourages readers to "Check It Out."

The Geeky Blogger is also giving away an autographed print edition of Whirlwind to one lucky winner who answers the...

Only a Few More Days to Win

Memorial Day Flags

Happy Memorial Day

So many have fallen in the name of freedom. Thank you to those who've given everything, and to those who continue to give in our armed services. One day isn't enough to say thank you!

In addition to remembrance ceremonies today, Memorial day is the unofficial start to the American Summer. Grills all across the country will be fired up today, cooking everything from hamburgers to fish, vegetables to watermelon (we're going to try that today)...

Photo Friday: The Golden State

Today's photo is a blast from way past, and a preview of my upcoming blog tour:

Cal Poly, the inspiration for Santa Lucia Polytechnic in Whirlwind

Located on the Central Coast of California, Cal Poly is on the edge of the city, San Luis Obispo. This photo was taken a LONG time ago (1988), and the campus has grown a lot since then. One thing that hasn't changed is the brown hills. This is the color of most of California in the summer and fall.

If you look close, you can see the white "P" on the h...

Combining Characters

Cover of Water for Elephants: A Novel

I have a confession: As I work on the draft of my next book, I'm finding there's just too many characters. I love them all, don't get me wrong, but the last thing I want is a reader who has to make a set of crib notes to keep track of all the people who jump in...

Photo Friday: Candy Edition

365.125 - Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

I may be showing my age, but do you remember the old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials from the seventies (I think)? The husband and his chocolate bar run into the wife and her peanut butter in the hall, and two flavors become a best selling candy. Never mind that the couple was walking through the house eating, and the only consequence of their violent collision was the mixing of their snacks – it was the idea of mixing two things together by accident and...

Photo Friday

Today's shot makes me think of a motivational poster:

I titled this photo "Ahead of the Pack," but there's at least two ways to interpret that. Maybe I'm an optimist, but the first thing I thought of was that the fish on the right is a leader, heading fearlessly into open water, while all the others are following him. That's the motivational poster idea.

But there's the opposite meaning too. What if that single fish is running from the others? On days when writing just doesn't seem to get on...

Happy Mother's Day

Ah, Mother's Day. The day I get to sleep in, have breakfast served to me, and get the coolest handmade cards:

My son labeled me the "Coolest Mom on the face of the planet," but not "a wart, zit, pimple, blackhead, sole acne dot, or other offensive facial problem." My daughter listed why Mothers are Awesome and made me a Mother's Day Word Lib. You can play it yourself . My wonderful husband (the reason I'm a mom at all!) helped the kids make me breakfast. It's been an awesome day so far.

But...
