How Do You Autograph a Kindle?

Borders Bookstore - SeaTac Airport

As the publishing industry continues to evolve, authors, publishers, and even readers are running to keep up.  Small bookstores are struggling to stay in existence…but the threat isn't the big chains any more, it's the eBook.  Even big chains like Borders are contemplating bankruptcy in light of the eBook craze (yup, Borders is in big trouble).  I still maintain paper and print books are not going to disappear, but seeing a company as large as Borders unable to...

A Prophetic Start to 2011

Today is the official end of the holiday season at the DeJarnett house.  Vacation is over (we had a great trip down to Palm Springs to visit family) and school is now back in session.  The holiday decorations will be boxed up this week and sent back into their dark corner in the attic.  The parties are over (except for one :-) – be sure and check out the Events tab above) and I'm ready to get back into a routine again.

Happy New Year!

an old post card

Image via Wikipedia

Can you believe the first decade of the new century is now over?  Yes, I know my age is showing, but just ten years ago we were all worried about the Millennium Bug, now we're more concerned with the Millennium Trilogy.  My how time flies!

It's only minutes away from midnight here in California, so it's time to make those dreaded New Year's resolutions.  I'm not one who usually formalizes such things – especially when I know I probably won't keep most of my promises to...

The Big In-Between

day 064: recycled magazine bows

It's that in-between time of year. "Merry Christmas" is past, and it's a little early for "Happy New Year." Around my house things are in a strange kind of limbo.  My husband's off work, so it feels like the weekend, but there's still things to do-an errand to the cable company or the post office and the ever-present laundry.  Christmas presents still litter the living room, and there's gift cards to spend among them.  Luckily there aren't any returns this year, but I also should go buy...

Tomorrow is the Day!

I can't believe Release Day is tomorrow!  There were many times in the past few years that I was sure this day was never coming…but now it's only a few hours away.  Suffice to say that I'll be a jumpy mess today!

How about one last excerpt from Whirlwind to pass the time? This is a long one, I hope you enjoy it!

My stomach lurched when the wrinkled suit of the eighties guy I'd bumped into outside stalked toward me. Not surprised or angry—thank goodness—he had a confident, almost predatory...

Countdown to Christmas

Rudolph has to hurry up, Christmas is coming s...

Is this really Rudolph?

What's playing right now? Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer by Mannheim Steamroller

Amongst all the decorating, music and shopping, one thing dominates my life right now: The Countdown.  Another form of a list, The Countdown encompasses a whole raft of things I need to do and deadlines I need to meet – and there's not a partridge or a pear tree on it.  So {takes a deep breath} here it is:

9.  NINE days until Christmas. How many more presents do I need to buy? I'd better...

Book Trailer is Here! And Another Excerpt

Without further ado:

A huge, HUGE thank you goes to my daughter, Megan, for composing and performing the music! Yes, I'm an extremely proud mom, but she is AMAZING!

Now about those blue eyes… Remember Mr. Sexy-From-The-Back? There's a lot more to him than a finely-tailored tux.

Chase looked great, but he was only one of an entire herd of GQ-worthy, immaculate men—a stunning sight in their matching tuxedos. One of the guys I recognized as Mitch's classmate, and a couple more were from the rodeo...

An Excerpt and a Break

If your holiday season is as crazy as mine is, you'd probably like a break right about now. How about a small taste of Whirlwind? It's coming in just 12 days!

Melissa Williams isn't really looking forward to her best friend's wedding, especially since she's alone. What she isn't prepared for is the effect one particular groomsman has on her:

Marching with new purpose toward the ribbons and balloons, I was halfway across the asphalt when two tuxedo-clad men stepped out of the shadows near the...

Whirlwind Cover is Here!

It's here!

There are few things that bring home the fact my book is really, truly going to become a reality more than the selection of a cover.  I'm excited, happy, and yes, a little terrified, knowing I'll be holding a book with this fabulous cover and my name on it in just over two weeks!

Luckily I have lots to do before then, otherwise I'd probably explode!

So, what do you think?  Do covers influence your book buying choices?  How about for ebooks?

Woo Hoo!
