Free Read – The Dead List
So I’ve been keeping a secret for about seven months and keeping secrets is hard, especially for me, because the moment I know something is going to happen, I want to share it.
I’m one of those people.
Some of you know that I have another Young Adult Romantic Suspense novel called The Dead List. It was slated to come out April of this year and once I had this book back in my hands, I knew what I wanted to do with it. Instead of re-selling it to those interested or self-publishing it, I had this idea.
I love my readers. I really do. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be able to live my dream of writing and using that income from writing to pay the bills. You spend your money on my work. I would like to somehow return that favor to you instead give you all a bunch of awkward hugs.
So remember when I randomly created a Wattpad account last Fall and started randomly adding bonus material? Well, there was a plan behind that. I needed to establish an account there.

Here’s how it’s going to work:
The Dead List is a full standalone novel, coming in at roughly 93,000 words.
It’s a Young Adult Romantic Suspense
Yes. Lots of Romance.
Sort of like Don’t Look Back, but a throwback to movies like Scream and the sort of campy fun ones. Think I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Scream. But with more romance.
That’s all I’m going to say about the book. I think a blind read is something different. A little fun.
There are no plans at this time to sell it or put it in print soon. I probably will one day, but the point of this is that it’s free for you guys.
The Dead List is a raw novel, meaning it hasn’t been through copy editing. You’ll going to see typos and some strange things. You’re actually going to see what a book of mine looks like before copy editors get their hands on it. Hopefully there are no random ‘shits’ where there is supposed to be ‘shirts’
I will be posting a chapter or a couple of chapters at a time, as one does on Wattpad.
Chapters will be added every Wednesday, Friday and then Sunday as long as I’m not traveling or, you know, acts of God clause.

Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.
Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. Oblivion
One of the most frequent requests that I receive is for more Daemon Black (Lux Series) POV. Flipping POV is harder than it probably looks when you’re pulling a random scene out of a novel and rewriting it when you’re completely disconnected to the whole novel and the character, so I’ve been shying away from POV scenes of late.
But when I can, I like to give the readers what they’re asking for.
Which brings me to what exactly is Project Ovaltine?
Or better known as Oblivion.

Many of you have already guessed that it has something to do with the Lux Universe, but what exactly, hasn’t been shared. Today I’m going to tell you a little more about it. Not everything, but enough that I hope many of you will be happy.

What does all of that mean?
1. Yes, you are getting more of Daemon Black. Oblivion is a companion novel to the Lux Series. At this time, that’s all I can say about what part of the Lux Series you are actually getting ‘cuz that’s how I roll. Actually, you will probably know by May or so.
2. Oblivion will not be a complete rewrite just flipped into his POV. There will be new, never before seen material. And you will also see some of your favorite scenes flipped.
3. Oblivion will be available in the U.S. in digital and exclusive online print. Meaning you will be able to order the print book online from online vendors but you will not be able to purchase it in stores. Doing it this way allows for a quicker release for your guys, which means….
4. Yes, Oblivion is coming out in December of this year!
5. Oblivion has already sold into several countries (six listed above) and there will probably be more coming. How they are printing the book is up to them and I will not know if they are doing print and digital at this time. Best to check with them.
6. There will be something in Oblivion that you really, REALLY want to pay attention to. You will know it when you see it. I promise you that. And I think once you guys see THAT you will also be very happy. Or so I hope. And no, it has nothing to do with the “Note”
I’m thrilled that we’re able to give you guys what you’ve been asking for– more Daemon–and I hope you enjoy Oblivion as much as you’ve enjoyed the rest of the series.

Torn, the second book in the Wicked trilogy, does not have a set release date at this time. I’ve been waiting on the announcement for Oblivion to talk about Torn. Because I’m only one person with one release schedule, something had to give to make room for Oblivion. What that means is that Torn will either come out in late Fall of this year (maybe November) or it will come out in the beginning of next year (maybe January). I know that’s kind of sucky news, but again, I’m kind of only one person with two hands and one brain. Well, maybe half a brain at this point.
Also, the cover for Every Last Breath will be revealed soon – most likely first week of April so keep an eye out for signs up.

Today we are revealing the trailer for Fall With Me. A big thank you for everyone who helped share it far and wide. Ya’ll the bomb diggity.
Fall With Me features several story lines. There’s a lot of romance. Of course, it’s me. There will be kissing and stuff in this book. It also features a suspense angle, which by the way was really influenced by Molly McAdams, but there is a story told among the romance and the suspense that is actually very close to my heart.
I’m about to get serious for a moment.
What happened to Roxy’s best friend is based on a real life event that happened to someone I knew.
In real life, my friend was so very lucky. That doesn’t lessen the hate crime committed against him, but he was able to walk away from him it and to heal. I cannot say more than that, because I do not want to spoil the story, but the event, which happened over a decade ago, stuck with me. One act of anger and bigotry forever changed the lives of many people, but out of an act born of hate and fear, I witnessed grace and hope in those hurt most by the act. I saw the worse kind of people changed for the good.
I wanted to capture that in Fall With Me. Besides the romance and the suspense, I wanted to tell a story about hope. A story where people can let go. That people, no matter how terrible they are, are capable of change– are capable of doing better and being better.

It’s that time! We’re going to announce the winners of the 2015 FanFic Your Way to RT Book Lover’s Convention in Dallas!
A quick recap for those who are now just seeing this. I believe in paying things forward and I know how hard it is to break out in the writing business. Conventions like RT Book Lover’s annual conference afford an amazing opportunity, because the extraordinary event is tailored to readers and writers, offering multiple panels and workshops. Cam and Avery…10 years later
A distinctive smell of chocolate chip cookies pulled me out of my almost comatose slumber. I inhaled the delicious aroma deeply, and as a result, a warm feeling of comfort settled in my chest. Honestly, everything about Cam still gave me that feeling.
The red glowing numbers of the alarm clock on his side of the bed caught my eye.
2:43 AM.
What in the world was he doing up?
My bare feet touched the chilly hardwood floor, causing goose bumps to cover my body. January in West Virginia can be brutally cold, and this year hasn’t differed at all. The temperatures here in Martinsburg haven’t been above 10 degrees in the last two weeks. Cam and I decided to set our roots here in the Eastern Panhandle. We considered moving to Morgantown to be close to his family, but decided that this area would be a good place to raise a family. Now that Teresa and Jase are also settling here, Cam’s parents are under contract for a house in Hedgesville.
I grabbed my robe off the chair across the room and slid my ice cold feet into my slippers to investigate what Cam was up to. I quietly walked down the steps and see only the kitchen light on. I peek around the corner, finding a picture perfect sight.
Cam was standing in front of the oven, his gym shorts hanging off his hips in that dangerous, mouthwatering way. Even after being together for ten years, the sight of him wearing next to nothing still causes my heart to speed up a little. This man, this beautiful man, loves me, and I couldn’t be anymore lucky.
He was scooping freshly baked cookies off of the nonstick sheet onto wax paper that was laid out onto the counter. On the opposite counter sat my greatest gift.
Mason, our five month old son, was sitting in his Bumbo, watching his daddy intently. Mason was Cam’s carbon copy; his dark hair and bright blue eyes was an exact replica of Cam’s. I leaned against the wall, watching the two loves of my life with misty eyes.
Cam pointed the spatula at Mason. “Ok buddy, you have to make sure you put walnuts in the dough with the chocolate chips. Believe me when I tell you, they are the shit. You’ll find out soon enough. We’ll make these cookies all the time for Mommy, she loves them.”
Mason’s face lit up at Cam’s voice, a wide smile causing his already chunky cheeks to be even chunkier. His hands reached out for the plastic spatula, and Cam, like always, gave in and handed it over. Mason instantly brought it to his mouth and started chewing on the flat end. He started cutting his first tooth last month, and now the kid has two others following. Anything and everything goes in his mouth, and it comes out dented and slobbered to death.
“Your mommy fell in love with me because of these cookies. I brought them in to astronomy class one morning and gave her one. She won’t admit it, but it’s what made her start to like me. She made me chase her for months, can you believe that shit?”
My heart was melting faster than the chocolate in the oven. Seeing my boys together made everything in the world feel right. For most of my life, I wasn’t sure if children were in my future. My parents did such a shitty job making me feel loved, I was unsure I was capable of giving love to another. That all changed once Cam stepped into my life. He showed me what love really was, and I’ve been blissfully happy ever since. I can’t begin to explain the amount of love in my heart for these two boys.
Mason cooed against the spatula, slobber now running down his chin and neck. Cam chuckled and grabbed a dish towel. “You gotta get this drooling under control, man. The chicks at daycare don’t dig it. I already know you’re a ladies man there, but to maintain your status, you can’t be a wet mess.” Cam took the spatula from Mason and wiped his mouth off. Mason’s arms started flailing and his high pitched cries began.
“Hey, Buddy, simmer down. You’re gonna wake Mommy up. Here…” Cam dipped his finger in a hot cookie and dabbed some chocolate on his finger, then put it in Mason’s mouth. Mason’s eyes went wide and his tiny hands wrapped around Cam’s large finger.
“HEY! I SAW THAT!” I heard myself yell before I could realize it was coming out of my mouth. Cam and Mason both turned their heads quickly in my direction. Mason was smiling at me, and Cam had the guilty look on his face.
“What? We’re just having man time.” He defended.
“You gave him chocolate! He’s only five months old, Cam!” I scolded.
“No I didn’t.” He lied with that sexy smirk that always got me.
Damn him.
“Uh, yeah, you did. I just saw you!”
Cam looked down at his hand that housed the finger that was in Mason’s mouth. Chocolate was smeared across Mason’s bottom lip.
“Oh…this? It’s not chocolate. It’s-”
“If you finish that sentence, I swear to God Cameron Hamilton, I will kick your ass. Give me my baby.”
I walked over to the counter where Mason was sitting in his Bumbo. He let go of Cam’s finger and smiled a drooly smile at me. God, I am so in love with this little man. I picked up my chunky guy and held him close to my chest, kissing him on the cheek. “What are you doing up so late mister? You and Daddy should be sleeping.”
Cam crossed his arms and leaned against the counter, smiling lovingly at Mason and I. “Little man woke up about an hour ago fussing, so I decided to let you sleep and bring him out here with me. I gave him some Tylenol for his teeth and he seemed to be doing better, but had no interest in sleeping. I asked him if he wanted to bake some cookies for mommy, and he thought it was an excellent idea.”
My heart swelled at how much Cam loved Mason. I knew he would be a fantastic father, but he’s completely blown me out of the water.
“Although I am extremely grateful for you helping Daddy bake cookies, Buddy, your little butt is getting a bottle and going back to bed. Mommy needs to thank Daddy for those cookies.” I bit my lip and looked at his torso, imagining running my tongue down the ridges of his abs.
I finally looked into his eyes, which were now smoldering. “I’ll make the bottle.”
I took Mason into the living room and turned on Netflix before sitting down on the couch. When he was a newborn, Mason was very colicky for the first few weeks. The only way to calm him down was to turn the TV on and let him watch the movements and lights on the screen. During the night when I was dead tired, I would put Supernatural on to keep me awake, and it seemed to keep his attention. Besides, who better to keep you company in the middle of the night than Sam and Dean Winchester?
Cam handed me a bottle just as the opening scene began. Mason took the bottle quickly in his mouth and started chugging the milk. His eyes grew heavy immediately, and I knew it wouldn’t be long before the little man was fast asleep. I felt Cam’s breath on the side of my neck, causing my body to shake with anticipation.
“Cam?”
He placed a soft kiss below my ear. “Shortcake?”
“You better clean the kitchen up quick, Mason is almost asleep…”
Cam took my ear in his mouth, skimming the lobe with his teeth. “I’m almost done. I have a craving for Shortcake.”
Desire pooled between my legs at the promise. He disappeared back into the kitchen and I squeezed my thighs together to dull the ache. I looked down at Mason, who was now asleep and had milk running down his little chin. I put the bottle on the coffee table and put Mason over my shoulder, patting his little back until I got a burp from him.
Once I got Mason in his crib, I closed the door quietly behind me and turned around, bumping into Cam’s hard chest. In one fluid motion, he pinned me against the wall with his hips, his obvious excitement pressing against my stomach. He growled hungrily as his hands fisted into my hair and he lowered his lips to mine, taking my bottom lip in between his teeth.
I moaned at his absence when he let go. “Were you waiting for me?” I breathed heavily.
He picked me up and carried me towards our bedroom. “I’ll always wait for you, Shortcake.”
