Wahhrrgarrbel!

There's something about that damned Wikipedia that gets my blood boiling at times…

The original stated purpose of Wikipedia was this:

Our goal with Wikipedia is to create a free encyclopedia; indeed, the largest encyclopedia in history, both in terms of breadth and in terms of depth. We also want Wikipedia to be a reliable resource. — Larry Sanger, co-Founder of Wikipedia

Now, this seems pretty easy to grasp for me. You compile information, allow people to peruse it, allow more people with...

Off Target and Tangent

So I was wildly offbase with my Pottermore guess. It's looking to be some sort of real-life treasure hunt mixed with an MMORPG or… something. So basically, Sony, Warner Bros and JK Rowling are trying to get LARPers and WoW gamers to get outside and… game? Odd. But, in a strangely unrelated coincidence, Rowling's camp is continuously denying that there is no new book in the works. I will continue to campaign that this is nothing but a pack of lies and a smoke screen, and that Rowling is going ...

Book Signage Party Time

So the big book signing at Barnes&Noble went well, despite it getting off to an inauspicious start. Apparently, I wasn't added to their events calendar, so not many people outside of those I've informed (which is quite a few people, but still) got the word in time. Still, sold four times the amount of books that all the other authors did during the week, and I finagled my way into having the store to myself on a Saturday afternoon. So…

It's very weird having the synopsis of your novel being...

Pottermore?

Someone asked me yesterday "What is Pottermore"? To which I replied "Potter-what?"

It's amazing that, as people are predicting the death of print books and such, one person can come along and change the entire game once more. J.K. Rowling didn't announce anything, just simply created a website called "Pottermore" with the words "Coming Soon" below it. That is all. And yet, everywhere I look the web is absolutely buzzing about it. So naturally I checked out MuggleNet, which is pretty much the u...

Write What You Know? I SCOFF At Thee!

I wonder if my dad got his birthday card yet?

I'm horrible at remembering date. I have this massive calendar up on the wall which shows every single appointment and schedule I have for the next few months, and yet I didn't mail off my dad's birthday card until the day of (partially because I'm a slacker, though mostly because I looked up and said "Holy crap, it's June already?"). Oddly, my characters seem to never forget their schedules and appointments.

For most people, it's "write what you...

Distracting Gator Ruined the Link

I guess I should have put up a link yesterday for the Lawyers in Hell pre-order. My bad, that damned gator was distracting.

Yippee!

Busy weekend, and this week isn't getting any easier.

The brother of one of the guys at work was in a car crash and the coworker had to take off, which means a lot of shifts had to be covered. Enter SuperJason, with his amazing ability to fill in the gaps. I picked up about 10 more hours this week, and then after I get off Friday night I'm off to Virginia for the book signing at Barnes & Noble. Then I rush back so I can be at work early Monday morning. Yippee!

In truth, I love this. It's nice t...

Book Signing Next Weekend

So that author signing at Barnes & Noble, the one I had to cancel due to a conflict? Well, it's back on. Yay! People will come and buy my book! June 18th, 3-7pm at the Valley View Mall in Roanoke, VA.

Egads! People are going to ask hard questions.

The odd thing about signings is that you're selling a few books in order to meet more people and create more fans. Typically, you don't sell a lot of books at a signing. Unless you're a big name author, the days of a line of people jostling for the...

On Sale, Cheap!

Right now, this very instance, for the next week or so, if you click this link you will discover that Amazon is currently offering my debut novel for a mere $2.99 as an ebook. This is the perfect time to buy it before it goes back up to $6.50.

In Control

There's control, and then there's control. Sarah Hoyt talks about being a very specific type of control freak, which made me wonder: am I a control freak?

I mean, there's the usual "I have to be in charge and all shall bow before me!" type of control freak that most people picture in their mind when they hear the term "control freak". More often than not, however, the term is misused. Everyone is a control freak when you get down to it, because nobody likes their surroundings messed with.

We're...
