October 2025 fiction project: The Witch House #2

This is a children’s story, which means that I can get away with saying things I want to say to adults by saying them to children instead.–Miss Emma, Librarian New Project! I’m posting a heads-up for a project that I’m starting today, a sequel to my middle-grade horror novel The Witch House. (Middle-grade = ages 9-12.) If you’re […]

Aliens...lasers...B Movies...oh my!

If I remember correctly, this book started out as an April Fool's prank; at any rate it's a satire on the 1978 movie Laserblast, which is (according to the author, I haven't seen it) *terrible.* Not "so bad it's goo

A best-of collection of SF/F that only seems to hit one note.

I am, admittedly, behind on my SF/F reading in general of late; that's why I picked this up. So there's this Edward Gorey quote that I like and I'll paraphrase it here: a story needs to be

A collection of short-form memoir pieces of a young man who somehow survived to become a less young one.

The author was born in 1961, so a lot of the memoir refers to growing up in the 60s and 70s, around a family that was surreal and bonkers. Family

The second collection of diary entries from David Sedaris.

Funny, brittle, bitter, nicely observant, analytical, and probably not entire honest. The brilliant company you'd want on a trip through some pretty crazy years.

Highly recommend.

Believe me, it’s the same thing all over again.” “But they might have killed themselves along with the rest of us.” “As long as they can preserve what they think of as humanity, they don’t care.” “Then why put other human lives in danger in the first place?” “If you don’t agree with them, you don’t count as human anymore.”

“had started him grinning even wider. “Wait,” Jack said. “What’s that in his pocket?” Heck glanced down; his white coat had fallen open. His hands went straight towards his shirt pocket, but I grabbed him by the wrists. Heck tried to talk, but his lips and tongue had swollen up, and I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say. Jack moved the gurney out of the way and plucked something out of Heck’s shirt pocket. It crackled. Clear plastic covered…what? Something rigid, thin, and milky-colored. Laurie I missed your last giveaway. I truly want to read your "Alice" books. Is "Alice in Underland" the first one? I love remakes of "old" stories. I've written a couple myself. My students loved my rewrite of "The 3 Little Pigs," especially the end. Want to read it? It's short but funny. I have to get it off my computer at school , though. Let me know.

Also, let me know when you are doing more giveaways. The types of books you write are the types of books I love the most.

(I see I missed the last giveaway. Boo hoo... )

Tamara Just ordered Alice's Adventures in Underland: The Queen of Stilled Hearts :D and can't wait for it to come in the mail! =]
