Ask Eve: Random

re: Your book isn't out yet. Eve: "Who do you think tossed the kid in front of her? Then shoved Rafe in the line of fire? … Just the luck of the draw." So you're saying that you're AFRAID to have your book published?

Sooner the books out, sooner I have to start killing people, that's all.

What's your opinion on tattoos? Specifically this one: http://www.whosay.com/adamlambert/pho...

Get shot/stabbed/blown up enough, you don't see the point in paying somebody to mark you up.

Do you have an o...

International Day Against Homophobia

How did this sneak up on me? You'd think at least one of my twitter-friends or the newsletters I get would have mentioned it…

Anyway. Because it did sneak up on me, I have nothing prepared. I'd love to come up with an eloquent and impassioned plea that would soften the hearts of the most virulent anti-gay crusaders.

Alas. I cannot. Instead, please enjoy this fan video of a fictional couple in the hopes of making the "gay lifestyle" less of a scary unknown.

Also, I invite you to enjoy this...

Night Fears

My kid is afraid to sleep when she doesn't feel well. She's afraid she won't wake up. Since we spent the evening re-arranging the living room and encountered a lost tribe of dustbunnies that had us both sneezing our heads off, this was a particular issue last night.

She makes traps, too. Any ball of string or yarn or rope that comes into her possession is likely to be strung all about her room in a wild cat's cradle to "catch" anyone who might come in her room. I don't ask who "anyone" might b...

Therapy

Not sure I can edit tonight. I might need to write Eve killing someone.

No, I can't even concentrate that much. My muses are running through bloody scenarios, but I can't actually write yet.

BRB, plotting (fictional) bloody murder…hey. It's therapeutic.

Six Sentence Sunday from His Faithful Squire

Eight people came in that boat, including the boatman. I'd slept with all of them.

Including the boatman.

Hell.

It was like…the world took a step back. I stood barefoot on worn-soft wood, surrounded by sunshine and water and pretty people, but it was all receding and around me dark swirled like the time I got knocked silly in one of Taro's crashes. Adam didn't look at me, the boatman didn't look at me, but the rest looked me over like a dessert cart and I felt naked like I didn't even when I...

I Want My Mommy

My mom once bit a forest ranger. The family had adopted an orphaned fawn, and the ranger came to take it away because it was a wild animal, and she bit him. I don't know how old she was, but it's interesting to note that biting runs in the family. My daughter's a biter too, and if you've read my recent posts you know I have the urges.

Mom grew up in Pennsylvania, and as far as I know except for visits to San Diego when my dad was in the Navy and Arizona after my grandparents (her parents...

Four Rules and Why I Break Them

I should be editing, I know. And I will. But…well, think of this as me getting my brain going. Besides, some stuff is bugging me.

1. I'm supposed to think controlling, masterful men are hot.

I thought we were past this. I really did. Then someone on my Twitter feed posted an article about sexy men in fiction, and the first one she brought up was Edward Cullen. She said all women want to be loved that completely. Not "teen girls who don't know any better." All women. All of us grown-up...

The Real Origin of Werewolves

Now, understand that none of this can be proven. I'm pretty sure I'm right, though.

Way back in the mists of time, far earlier than any historical mention of werewolves, there lived a man and a woman. The man was not the woman's mate–no, her mate knew when to keep his head down. This man was not so bright. Perhaps he didn't have a woman of his own to teach him.

Anyway, on this far distant day, the man annoyed the woman. Her mate tried to hint to the man that he should back off, but he was too d...
