WHEE! :D

It makes me very happy that so many people enjoyed Lukas and Alan. I love writing, and I’d do it no matter what–but it’s such a marvelous feeling when people are book-happy (you know that feeling when you’ve just spent five hours when you should have been sleeping reading a book you couldn’t put down, and now you’ve got to go to work/school on two or four hours of sleep and you don’t CARE? Yeah, that feeling.) It’s amazing when people are book-happy and it’s YOUR book that did it.

Avengers, Beat by Beat

Okay, cool. So I’ve talked more than once about the Blake Snyder Beat Sheet here. I’ve been using the beat sheet and other stuff to plot Beast for Camp NaNo, but today I took a break to squee wildly went to research structure at the theater, watching Avengers again.

Distractions Abound

Avengers is SO FREAKING GOOD. It’s two hours and twenty minutes long. Felt like about five, except I didn’t feel like there was much if anything missing, either…

We’re going to go see it again. Tomorrow if I get off work early enough. Saturday if I’m working full days. But we ARE going to see it in theaters again. And at some point I will own it and cuddle it and sleep with it under my pillow…

Wild Writer Woman

I don’t fit the popular image of a wild woman. When I’m invited to after-work things, or weekend parties, I don’t go. You’ll never find me stripping on a bar clutching my drink as I drop my clothes. You’ll never hear me drunkenly explaining the intricacies of buttsex to an equally drunken compadre. I’ve never woke up with a hangover to ponder how best to accomplish my Walk of Shame after a one-night stand.

Needed: Less Faith in an Unfaithful Brain

For a long time now, I’ve entertained friends as I cleaned by reading cryptic bits of found notes, then trying to figure out what the hell I meant. Why did I write “flux capacitor” while working on a contemporary romance? Some are mundane. “Like Shari’s, only inside.” Who is Shari, and what is like her what only inside? Others are more…exotic. “Unholy Vegetarian Rangers.” “Wishful thinking–were-lizard.” “Super-power: always a virgin.”

Seeking Balance

I’m trying to find some balance in my life. I’ve always chased after whatever I was interested in at the time, to the exclusion of other things. When I fell into Weiss fandom (my first forays into slash, ahh, nostalgia…), I stalked eBay for everything Weiss. Art books, DVDs, concert videos…I got ‘em all. I spent a good amount of money, I had auction-winning strategies, I searched misspellings of the names to find stuff other fans weren’t bidding on…

No Doomy Summer of Editing DOOM

This year it looks like I’ll only have about two weeks off work. (I know–only?) That may, possibly, be enough time to edit one novel, but it certainly isn’t time enough for more than one. So, alas, no Doomy Summer of Editing DOOM this year.

International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia

I meant to have a great post ready for today. I actually knew it was coming! Umm…yesterday.

But hell. My mind was on other things, and I didn’t come up with anything. Because, you know–I have that luxury. I’m straight and cis. This day is very important, but it’s not about me. It can slip my mind.

Here’s hoping for a day we no longer NEED this day.

Not-Writing, Blargh

So I’m amused to report that I have not read a book–nor even cracked one open–since I complained that I’d fallen into reading.

That’s okay, though. I will read more. And also I have lots of other things to do.

This blog will be looking different soon! I am wandering blogs I like, trying to sort out what makes a good-looking blog, and then I shall get experimental.
