Eight Arms of Protection

I have a tiny octopus protector. He sits on my mouse and keeps me from wandering off (so much). He’s why I got three thousand words yesterday. He’s why I didn’t click off to check on Twitter just now.

Octopode protector

This attention thing is hard. As I pointed out to my daughter yesterday, she comes by her ADHD honestly. I’ve never been diagnosed, but I’m almost certainly ADHD. If I go to do something in another room, I’m probably repeating in my head just WHAT I need to do so I don’t forget. I’ve gotten prett...

I Can’t Wait for Inspiration

Many how-to authors will tell you that you can’t wait for inspiration. Never wait for it, make it happen, et cetera and so on.

I’ve come to the conclusion over the years that many how-to authors don’t actually have any idea how anyone else works.

One of the most prolific writers I know personally only writes when she’s inspired. Some of the least productive writers I know work the same way. They never force it, because they hate everything they write when they do. They don’t write much, but eve...

Our Journey Begins!

Before the horror fades into fond memories of adventure, let me warn you off going Greyhound if you can possibly avoid it.

We were to leave at ten a.m. June 5. The bus we were to get on, however, broke down, and they just canceled that route. We waited until almost two in the afternoon to get on a different bus.

Being four hours behind schedule meant we missed our connection where we were supposed to change buses in Dallas. We sat in that station for seven hours. Then they crammed us onto a bus...

Scatterbrained

So apparently vacation scatters my mind. Not a bad thing–I do believe it needed the break. I let it run all over the place for the last twelve days, and I’m sure when it finds its way home, it will be much happier. But now I’m trying to get myself put back together, and I think my mind is still back in Disney World riding Thunder Mountain Railroad a few more times. (Awesome ride. Highly recommend. More in a future post.)

Anyway. I started my 750words this morning, and the first thing I did was...

I’m Not Dead!

I just have my moments.

Disney World was amazing. We had so much fun. I can’t even begin to explain how much fun we had, so I’ll just skip over that till I’ve got some stuff put away and a whole seven or so hours of sleep (in a row! I hope!) behind me.

My cats are not pleased that I dared abandon them, but extra snuggles are bringing them around. I have stuff everywhere as I try to unpack and I can’t quite absorb that I am home and my Florida adventure is over, but whatever.

Did I mention we had...

The Ocean

It’s amazing.

That is all. Or at least, all until I can get home and get settled. We never wanted to leave Disney World, but now that we have, and we took off to the ocean for a day and the kid looks like a lobster, we want to go home.

Or rather, we want to BE home. We do not wish to face the journey. And especially I do not want to give up the rental car because it’s sooooo marvelous. We’re trying to figure out how to get all three of us and the car back to Tucson in like, five minutes.

Scotty,...

OMFG DISNEY!!

So after the Journey Through Hell (see my Twitter account and possibly this page at a later date–short form, No, I didn’t kill anyone I don’t know where ANY of those people that I didn’t really actually threaten are, but I’m sure they’re fine.)

Ahem. DISNEY ZOMG! Got here yesterday, a day late. They actually moved our reservations so we didn’t lose a day! And everyone has been super awesome. You can tell they are dedicated to making this vacation–well, they say magical, and they mean it!

I’m so...

(Did I mention? Due to the incredible kindness of awesome people, WE’RE GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!It’s completely awesomesauce, but the only way I can afford to get there is by bus, and we’ll be pretty broke while there which WHO CARES unless an emergency comes up, which is why I’m trying to make sure we don’t...

Each One is Worth a Thousand Words!

So last week was a busy one, what with the end of the school year and my kid’s promotion and my story deadline and all.

Saturday was the deadline. Sunday Adventure Friend and I took my roommate and headed up the mountain as we love to do. It was so peaceful with no one under twenty in the group!

This week I’m scrambling, trying to catch up on all the stuff I let slide due to my school, my work, my deadline, my sanity…

Anyway. In lieu of actual thought, please accept some pictorial offerings. :D

I Have Plans

Plans to blog, to edit, to clean my room–somehow things aren’t getting done. They’re getting STARTED, but not DONE.

I’m not sure what’s up with that. Did someone take about five hours out of my days?

Keep swimming, keep swimming…
