Say what you will, but
Trump has pulled off one of the most amazing upsets in political history. From a joke to a president. Hated by all establishments, Republican, Democrat, Global, every single one.
Wow. Really, like WOW.
POPULISM, baby. Brexit, Trump. The bullshit they’ve been selling has become too expensive and everybody knows it but them.
(Well, I think they might be getting a clue now, LOL).
The Legacy of Trump
I remember a phone conversation I had with my aunt, a lifelong liberal and Democrat.
“I really think the Republican Party is going to split up,” she said.
I did, too, actually. After 2012 and Romney, they had really hit a wilderness period. They had lost the argument on gays, trans, even abortion. They had veteran worship, little else.
Enter Trump. And they HATED him. Everybody, Democrats and Republicans, HATED him.
Hm, I thought, now here’s somebody interesting. And, obviously, I was not alone. I didn’t buy the “racist” label. Liberals call anyone who they disagree with “racist”. So “yawn” on that.
He talked like Americans talk among themselves even though they’ll never admit it on tv. He says pussy. So do you. He’s ironic. So are you. He is crass. So are you. He says fuck and so does everyone oh my fucking god.
It’s like some guy from the bar running for President, like one of us. Nothing was rehearsed, obviously. It was all genuine and from the gut. If you can’t admire that, then you’re a hypocrite.
The Republican Party will never be the same, thank FUCKING god.
And I voted for Trump because revolution. REVOLUTION, bitches.
Win or lose, it’s a brand new world :)

There ain't a lot of political yard signs around here.
Which is odd, and different from the Obama/ Romney matchup of four years ago. I remember lots of Romneys and a smattering of Obamas (this is a very Republican part of the country).
Maybe political yard signs are out in Rapid City, South Dakota, uncool, passe, like leg warmers, Paris Hilton, and fondue. We got 80,000+ people around here, too.
I think I’ve seen one Gary Johnson sign and back before the DNC robbed Bernie Sanders and doomed the country to a Trump presidency, I remember seeing quite a few Bernies.
They’re gone now, of course. Those poor Bernie bastards are wrestling with whether to vote for Hitler or Stalin now.
But it is odd to me. Odder still because there are a lot of political yard signs up, but for local and state candidates. I thought with all the hate and vitriol going on….
Perhaps we South Dakotans are better behaved than all the weirdos and lunatics living on the geographical fringes of this country. Perhaps we still possess a sense of decorum.
All you angry motherfuckers put down your signs and hug it out! LOL.
