The problem with young people, of this or any generation, is that they aren’t the only people, but they are actually convinced that they are.

The popular vote and the Electoral College, some thoughts and explanations

Under our Constitution, you become President by winning states, not popular votes. The states are apportioned electoral votes based on population. My state, for example, has the bare minimum, 3 electoral votes, while California has 55 electoral votes. A candidate needs 270 of these votes to win.

As it stands now, Clinton won slightly more popular votes than Trump, but if you take into account 3rd party candidates, more people voted against her than for her. The simple fact is the majority of voters did not want Clinton.

Those protesting the Trump win are actually protesting open and free elections, which is pretty scary. It looks like a giant tantrum to me.

To do away with or change the Electoral college will require a Constitutional amendment and to do that, you have to get 2/3 of the states to agree. Essentially, you would have to convince all or most of the smaller states (population-wise), to disenfranchise themselves and surrender the small amount of power they do have.

Good luck with all that.
