Giving Back Using Your Phone

As we Americans prepare to gather with our friends and family around Thanksgiving tables, I wanted to share several ways that you can give back during the holidays (and beyond) on your phone.

Contactthose you care about

Our phones can do amazing things, but none more powerful than connecting your voice with those you care about. Be sure to call those you love to let them know you are thinking about them.

Also, take some time to connect with friends you may not have seen in a while. No one min...

Facebook Walls Are Not An Open Invitation For You to Attack

Dangerous Walls

Love it or hate it, Facebook is part of our lives.

Even with all the other technology we have in our lives, most of us learn news from our family and friends on Facebook.

As it becomes more integrated into our daily lives, it is apparent that it has also warped our basic human interactions. The way we treat other people and the forgetting of manners.

I made the mistake years ago of opening up my Facebook. This was before pages existed and when I had fans of my podcasts trying to connect and...

An Autumn Weekend at Vermont’s Hermitage Club

The Hermitage Club

Autumn is my favorite time of year in New England.

The crispness in the air and exploding colors of the woodsalways makes me smile as I soak up every moment of it before Old Man Winter decides to roll into town.

So when the invite came from The Hermitage Club to bring my family up and spend a media weekend with them I couldn’t say no.

The Hermitage Club

In full disclosure, once we drove ourselves up they took care of all other expenses for the weekend.

The Hermitage Club sits atop Haystack Mountain in the pic...

ITS Tactical Muster IV in My Words

Growing up in the Boy Scouts, I’ve kept their motto as my own long beyond the last time I wore the uniform.

“Be Prepared” means a lot of things.

To me, being prepared means having the mental state to cope, knowledge to solve or skills to deal with whatever the world throws at you on any given day.

This is why I was excited to be invited to attend the fourth annualITS Muster and Skill-Set Development Excursion.

ITS MUSTER 4

Imminent Threat Solutions (ITS) provides knowledge that empowers individuals with...

Teenager Technology Gifts

309928695_7360e74601_o

I hate to think about it, but the holidays areright around the corner and the other night my wife turned to me and asked, “Any ideas on what we are going to get the kids for Christmas?”

Since my kids don’t read my blog, I figured a quick post to give you ideas of great gifts for the teenagers (or adults) in your life might be helpful.

These are one guys thoughts about it and I’d be curious to hear what you think.

Most links are affiliate links. I’ve got to pay for my gifts somehow! :)

When Will Pandemics Get the Attention They Deserve?

Last year the world watched in horror as an Ebola outbreak spread across part of the African continent.

Through my work with ONE, I was well educated in what was going on, how it is spread and proper level of concerns.

Sadly though, I wonder if enough people realize that it is isn’t a matter of if we’ll ever have to deal with an outbreak growing into a pandemic, but when?

On Sunday, November 1 at 9 pm ET on National Geographic Channel they will be premier...

Doing My Part to Help Save the Children

AFG

This morning began for me by attending the Horizons For Homeless Children annual fundraising breakfast whereDr. Tererai Trent shared her story with such emotion and passionthat I won’t soon forget it.

While this was happening, I knew that a teamfromSave the Children would be kicking off a new campaign to raise funds for their efforts in Afghanistan by telling the story of a little girl namedKarima.*

After years of war and severe poverty, combined with poor security, #Afghanistan is considere...

WHY Would I Attend ITS Muster 4?

ITS MUSTER 4

Twelve hours ago, I arrived home from ITS Muster 4in Bridgeport, Texas.

Put on by my friends at Imminent Threat Solutions, it is five day immersive weekend to learn new skills and immediately put them into practice.(that is me in the blue shirt in the middle of the photo above)

There will be a full write up coming soon once I’ve been able to decompress and try to put the experience into words.

This post had to happen immediatelythough because the number one question I’m getting asked is “Why...

Using Photography to Drive Social Change

CC Chapman Speaking at PIX2015

Last week, I took the stage to speak at my first photography conference.

Pix 2015 was an amazing event full of inspiring speakers, great photographers and enough photography gear to make your head spin.

Samsung was a Gold Sponsor of the event and brought several of us Imageloggers out to Seattle to take part in the event.

Kicking off the second day of the event was little old me with a talk encouraging photographers to use their talents and image to drive social change in the world around th...

Fun Times and Financial Learning at The Topsfield Fair

UFUND

The Topsfield Fair is a New England tradition and one that after all these years I finally got to experience for myself.

Sadly, the day started off wet and cold and we were not sure if we’d be able to make it or not. Thankfully Mother Nature decided to cooperate and as Emily and I hit the road to the fair, the rain stopped and would stay away for the rest of the day.

Shortly after entering, we found ourselves at the U.Fund Dreams Tour tent.
