Dolphin Ally | Flash Fiction
Welcome to another one of my Magical Stories. The photo writing prompt for Friday Fictioneers 25 April 2019 inspired this one. This flash fiction story is 100 words.

The Photo Inspiration
This is an excerpt from a mystical tale about a young Dolphin Ally concerned with the human he is destined to guide. It’s from my story “Into the Bubble.”

The Story: Dolphin Ally

Word count: 100
“I can’t reach my ward.”
Sunny pokes my belly with her nose, pushing me out of my repetitive path. I do my best to give her my attention.
“You have a human to guide?” Her mouth drops open.
“Yes.”
“Since when?”
“Just recently.”
She twirls. “Really? What do you know about your One?”
“She’s not quite a woman but not a child either.”
“Like us.”
“Yes, and she needs my help.”
“Does she call to you asking for guidance?”
“Well, not exactly.”
Sunny presses her nose into mine. “Then why worry? She will call when she’s ready, won’t she?”
“She grieves.”

First Night at Guide Dog School: A Snippet from My Chapter in Walk in My Paws: An Anthology of Service Dog Stories
“May I help you? the Residence Assistant asked.
“Yes. I need a pole vault.”
“Excuse me?”
“I’m too short from the bed!”
That funny moment happened on my first day at Leader Dogs for the Blind, where I met my amazing Leader Dog Diva. I endured 2 days of pure torture between arriving and meeting my dog.
People often wonder what it’s like going to guide dog school. It’s an adventure, for sure!
Having trained my first 2 guide dogs myself, I was really anxious about having a dog I didn’t pick delivered. “Here’s your do.
Before, I met, temperament tested, and selected my own dog. While I trusted in the universe to deliver me a great dog, I still couldn’t help feeling a little out of sorts.
I’d cried so many tears since Molly passed, and I simply couldn’t fathom life without a dog anymore. Yearning for a dog ached deep inside me. I could hardly wait to meet my new companion.
I’ve been with Diva almost 4 years now! So hard to believe.
Walk in My Paws: An Anthology of Service Dog Stories showcases people with disabilities sharing about our dogs. Our disabilities vary widely. A few of the authors are veterans.
The book comes out in Fall with ALL profits going to Freedom Fidos, which trains (mostly) shelter dogs for veterans. Their website is FreedomFidos.org.

WIP Book Excerpt from Walk in My Paws: An Anthology of Service Dog Stories by Ronda Del Boccio and R. Rice
The biggest reason why I’m a writer has ZERO to do with notoriety…

Being able to help veterans get life-changing service dogs means the world to me. I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to help a worthy organization create more powerful partnerships.
Walk in My Paws: An Anthology of Service Dog Stories is a collection of stories by people with a wide range of disabilities writing about their amazing service dogs. It will be available in fall of 2019.
Walk in My Paws Is a Labor of Love
We are donating 100% of book royalties to Freedom Fidos, a nonprofit organization that trains dogs for veterans. Most of the dogs are shelter rescues. A few are dander-free dogs from ethical breeders for those with allergies.

Genre: The book’s paranormal. This excerpt is normal.
Word count: 100.
I stood in the subway station hoping my train would come soon. When I moved from the Ozarks for my new job at the Chicago Tribune, I learned something I really didn’t want to know.
Urine smells different the longer it ages on the poles, cement, and benches of a public transit system. Also, I learned that the more people live in an area, the more disgusting they become. Nothing prepared me for the stinking mass of humanity in a big city. Yuck.
When I first moved here, I was afraid. These days I’m not so much afraid as disgusted.

Your Demonic Destination Is on the Left | Flash Fiction for Friday Fictioneers 8 March 2019
This week's flash fiction for Friday Fictioneers comes from my fiction WIP (work in progress) Hypnotic Deception, sequel to They All Died Smiling in hte Reluctant Demon Hunter series.
Kassidy is just trying to take a road trip to her Aunt Bobby's house for a family celebration. This is based on something a GPS actually did to me and my friend a couple summers ago. (It appened maybe a dozen times).
Here's the story...
Our Demonic Destination is on the Left

A sign warned me of an upcoming Nazarene church. It would say it welcomed me to unburden myself of sin.
My palms tingled. I sighed. Trouble. I ignored them.
“I said no demons, ghouls or other creatures of darkness.” I loved being able to talk unfiltered in my car.
Siri said, “Follow the road left, then your destination is on the right.” The church was most definitely not my destination.
“Aunt Bobby doesn’t live inside a church.”
A cold, hard knot of dread landed in my stomach. Until now, I never got my signs so far from the invading spirit.
