Book Marketing Help: What Are Hashtags and How How Can They Help You Reach Your Readers?

What are Hashtgs?

You’ve seen hashtags, the # pound sign or tic-tac-toe symbol, on Twitter and other places around the social web. They initially existed exclusively on Twitter, but now you’ll see them in Facebook, Google+, and even to some extent in Pinterest and LinkedIn.

Here are 2 examples:

“Instant Author Formula gives 6 simple recipes #HowTo  #WriteABook fast http://WriteonPurpose.com/instant #writing #AwakenedAuthor

#AmWriting an anthology of #redneck and #hillbilly stories called Hillbilly Daze. Like http://Facebook.com/HillbillyDaze for jokes & updates #HillbillyDaze ?

WHY Hashtags

Hashtags help organize content. You put in a tag like #BookMarketing and know what you’ll see is relevant to book marketing. So # is an organizational tool.

Don’t roll your eyes, sigh, shrug, and go watch TV. Hashtags are your friend when you know what to do with them.

How do they help you find readers?

If your book is a fantasy, adding #fantasy to your tweet or Facebook post helps your reader find your book more easily.. Clearly flagged, people can sift through all of the network to search for #fantasy with ease.

Here is a spectacular list of hashtags for authors, courtesy of Kindle Direct Publishing. See original source. Be sure to bookmark this page so you can ge to them again.

Because I use  #AwakenedAuthor, once someone sees it in a post, they cantype that wordinto the search on Twitter, Facebook, or wherever and find things that are about the systems I teach.

My book #HillbillyDaze comes out months from now, but as I use the hashtag in everything, it will gain ground over time.

So take a peek at this list. Write down the ones you think you’ll use. Remember to think about it from the reader’s perspective.

How Powerful Are Expectations?

Send to KindleExpectations shape how people act.

If you've ever been disappointed because someone didn't meet your expectations, remember that you've created a story about what SHOULD happen, when it should happen, what they should say or do, etc. It's your head story, nothing more.

When someone doesn't live up to your story, it doesn't mean they don't care. It simply means they didn't meet your criteria that you had in your head.

How to Make It Easier for Readers to Buy Your Book Using #AmazonCart

Send to KindleHow to Make It Easier for Readers to Buy Your Book Using #AmazonCart

Book marketing is something many authors dread, so… Wouldn’t it be great if someone could see a tweet about your book and add it to their Amazon shopping cart, all without leaving Twitter? Now they can, thanks to #AmazonCart Imagine how many more customers you can get when you make it so easy for folks to buy.

Here’s an example of #AmazonCart in action

This is the tweet that auto-populated when I went  to 1 of my books on Amazon:

Instant Author Formula: 6 Simple Recipe… Reply w/ #AmazonCart for a free sample http://t.co/cZZEnp6zwr via @amazon — Ronda D – Author (@TheStoryLady) June 4, 2014

Watch this YouTube Video:

. Here are the details straight from Amazon:

Author Central News

Help drive sales on Amazon using Twitter with #AmazonCart

We would like to inform you of a new feature – #AmazonCart – that could help grow your sales when you tweet about your books on Twitter.

Customers can add products they see on Twitter to their Amazon.com Shopping Carts without leaving Twitter.

Now, when you send a tweet that includes an Amazon.com product link, Twitter users who have connected their accounts to Amazon will be able to add the product directly to their Amazon.com Shopping Carts simply by replying to the tweet and adding “#AmazonCart.” They will receive a reply tweet and an email confirming the Cart add, and they can complete checkout on Amazon.com at their convenience.

You may begin to see replies containing “#AmazonCart” to your tweets with Amazon.com product links. These replies can also give you a good idea of which followers are engaging with your tweets.

For more information about the feature, visit www.amazon.com/AmazonCart.

To learn about how you can leverage #AmazonCart to drive your next book launch or promotion, reach out to amazoncart-partnerships@amazon.com

.

What does this mean to the reader/customer??

If you hadn’t noticed, it can be a pain to use Amazon from your smartphone when you’re inside another app, like Twitter. Now, your reader doesn’t have to remember your title, log in to their Amazon account, or switch apps. Easy-breezy.

What #AmazonCart means for YOU the author

You’re the hero for making things easy for our buyer. You can get more sales.

How to link your Twitter account to Amazon:

You can lick this link to edit your Amazon Social Settings. So, go ye forth and share your Amazon book links on Twitter using #AmazonCart.

Tips for writing tweets about your books

#1 Write your own tweet that speaks to the value of the book in someone’s life. I copied the 1 right from amazon, and it isn’t great, but it offers the free sample, which isn’t too bad. A better idea is to write my own tweet, which I have done.

A Tasty Morsel quirky #paranormal #novella full of humor & innuendo. Reply w/ #AmazonCart to buy http://t.co/iX1IJkJWR2 — Ronda D – Author (@TheStoryLady) June 4, 2014

#2. Rather than using that long Amazon link, make a short link.. Here’s how:

Take the long # at the end of your Amazon link right after the /dp/. Eample: http://www.amazon.com/Tasty-Morsel-Qu...B00BVG5Q4M Put it at the end of http://amzn.com, like this: http://amzn.com/B00BVG5Q4M Remember to tell people to reply to buy or for Kindle books, you can tell them to get a free sample.

Mindshift: Can You Eat a Highly Intelligent Being?

Send to Kindle

Can you eat a creature that is as intelligent as a human?

What you are about to read may shift how you think about what you devour.

A comment someone left on 1 of my Facebook photos got me thinking.  I posted a picture of the bacon caramel brownie bites, pictured below and someone said, “Pigs are almost as intelligent as humans. I cannot eat anything from a pig.”

Caramel Bacon Brownies (these are bites for competition tasting, but you can cut normal sized ones for your people.)

OK well just make brownies then…sheesh!

But it got me thinking. I responded that all life is sacred and all beings intelligent. If you’re going to refrain from eating intelligence, you’ll neither eat any food nor drink any water.

All life is sacred, and indeed, I consider the flora and fauna of this world far more knowing than any human.

You may protest, “but broccoli can’t build a building or run a government.”

True, but broccoli always stays true to its nature. It never strays from its innate purpose. Life responds to its conditions and finds a way to flourish where it can. Your broccoli never decides the water nearby isn’t flowing to its liking, nad it never tries to reroute the stream.

Only  humans stray from their path, from their life purpose. Only humans fail to follow the bent of their nature on a regular basis. Only humans need to be led back to their true path.

Only humans destroy the natural order in which all other creatures thrive harmoniously.

So, whether you choose to be a vegetarian or omnivore,  nourish yourself on the intelligent life forms you choose to eat. You may decide to eat or not to eat any food, but do not let intelligence be your guide, because ompared to the wonders of this world, humans are puny and ignorant..

Miracle Mindshift Month

Who Helps You Write?

Send to KindleMy greatest distraction is also my greatest joy when I'm writing. I love my cats. I love to pet them. Yes, they pick the most interesting times to call for attention. Nonetheless, I am so very grateful for them, & I would have it no other way!

Who helps you right? Please respond in the comments. And if you are a cat lover, feel free to share this.
