If you write fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, or even hillbilly humor, there could be a place for you in this uniqu4e collection of tales tall and true.

You can download the \PDF for all the details. Here’s the short version:

The Hillbilly Daze anthology comes out via Oghma Creative Media in early 2015.

Submission deadline is November 1, 2014.

Contest winners will be published in the book and will receive a book marketing program for free to help you market this and any other book.

All stories must be based in the Ozarks, particular in and around Table Rock Lake.

Kindle Direct Publishing Introduces Kindle Pre-Orders

Gathering pre-orders before the official release of a book is a great way to build anticipation for your book. But until today, you could only do this with books published in physical ink.

Today, Kindle Direct Publishing announced that Kindle authors can now offer pre-orders of their books up to 90 days before the release date.

Here are the details straight from KDP:

We’re excited to announce that you can now make your new books available for pre-order in Kindle Stores worldwide. With a few quick and easy steps you can create a pre-order page up to 90 days in advance of your book’s release date–your pre-order product page will be created within 24 hours. When you make your book available for pre-order, customers can order the book anytime leading up to the release date you set. We will deliver it to them on that date.

One advantage of using pre-order is that you can start promoting your Kindle book pre-order page on Author Central, Goodreads, your personal website, and other places ahead of its release to help build excitement for your book. Also, pre-orders will contribute toward sales rank and other Kindle Store merchandising ahead of release, which can help more readers discover your book.

How can you make the most of offering Kindle pre-orders?

1. Drip tips, tidbits, scenes, or other tantalizing morsels from your book over time on your blog, in social media, and at live events.

2. Be sure to invite people to become a subscriber. Offer a special gift to those who do.

3. Distribute press releases that share the value of your book to readers.

Your Live Hangout on Air Broadcast displayed on Google.com Search!
This is experimental… This is rolling out… Two phrases that mean you may or may not see this happen in your online world. But the idea that Google.com may show your Live HOA Broadcast when people search for relevant terms is quite wonderful!

Here is the official announcement page:

A live event will start to show up in search up to 3 hours before it starts.
Click "Watch Live Event" and you'll be taken to the Event Page. If the event is live, press the play arrow to watch, if it will be live later on, then choose "Yes" to the Are you going to watch? question and the event will be added to your Google Calendar along with some reminders.

So what can we do to help this happen for our broadcasts?
► Use HOA Titles that are relevant to searchers
► Schedule your HOA activity ahead of time so Google can find it
► Early on (before you broadcast) Edit/Add meta data to your HOA events via the YouTube Live Event interface… more relevant info helps Google surface your HOA in search… Video SEO tactics apply
