Simba Concert is December 21
Simba will perform a public concert in Dummerston, Vermont, near Brattleboro, on December 21 at 7 p.m. At a recent Simba concert, at least 100 people danced for hours. The band plays reggae and funk, among other kinds of music.
Simba’s members live in and near Brattleboro. At Simba concerts they play guitar, drums, bass, trombone, trumpet, saxophone, bongos, talking drum, electric piano, and other instruments. One of Simba’s most popular songs was written by Simba guitar player Derrik Jordan....
Greenfield Cop Publicly Displays Confederate Flag
A sergeant in the Greenfield police department hung a Confederate flag in his garage and left the garage door open so the flag was visible from the public road. In a photo, the flag appears to be about 25 square feet. A police sergeant is a boss of police officers. The flag was visible at 85 Shelburne Road. The sergeant is Daniel McCarthy.

Valley Activism Heats Up
Between December 2 and December 7, four rallies are planned in the Valley. Two are to protest billion dollar banks that are trying to evict poor people from their homes. One rally is to win justice for Verizon workers. Another is to call on politicians to deal with climate change.

450 at March, Rally Against Racism
In Northampton and Amherst some 450 people attended a march and a rally protesting Smith College's decision to admit just 5 percent African American students (13 percent of Americans are black) and the University of Massachusetts Amherst's decision to admit 4 percent African American undergraduate students (8 percent of Massachusetts residents are African American). March to Stop Climate Change
To fight climate change, activists are organizing a march and rally in Northampton and a march in Amherst. Both are on November 29. The march starts at 5:30 p.m. at Northampton high school and goes to city hall, where a rally starts at 6 p.m. The Amherst rally will be at 6 p.m. at the town common.

Roger Salloom and Charles Neville Concert is November 28
Roger Salloom and Charles Neville plus a five person band will perform at the Arts Block in Greenfield on November 28 at 7 p.m. Rolling Stone magazine said of Salloom, "Superb storyteller with a great sense of timing and the music is incredibly infectious." Neville has performed with James Brown, B.B. King, and Ray Charles. Tickets are $15.
