5 Star Review of Execution of Justice
5.0 out of 5 stars Exhilarating Read
By Michael on August 16, 2017
Format: Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is amazing! It starts with the origin of the hero’s motivations. Then delivers an action-packed plot as a new Covert Ops recruit, John Drake, embarks on a perilous mission to rescue 38 women from a human trafficker in Morocco, only to find himself embroiled in a war brewing in the Middle East. The local descriptions are excellent, as well as the military tactics and character depth. The author neatly ties together several plot lines that converge to form a satisfying climax. Highly recommended!

Review of To Trick a Hacker
To Trick a Hacker by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Exciting Story With Deep Character Development!
This book is an excellent stand alone, but Dylan’s character is so intriguing, I must go back and learn more of her past. As a homicide detective, she was the sole survivor of a sadistic serial killer who left her deeply scarred in every way.
She has been living underground, working as a hacker for a secret organization and trying to heal her wounds. When a copycat killer appears, Dylan knows she is the only one with the skills to bring this psychopath to justice.
The plot is full of action, deep emotional context, and lessons on the resilience of the human spirit. If you like a strong female lead overcoming unimaginable psychological and physical damage to outwit all her enemies, this book series is for you!

Adam Carolla’s Bucket List
Get kicked out of a casino for winning
Jump into a body of water with a knife between my teeth
Have a cape removed on stage
Be killed by the person a told to kill me if I started to become a zombie
Wipe down a gun
Silently communicate by pointing to my watch underwater
Punch out my undercover partner, who is about to say something that would blow our cover
Put my hand over the mouth of a beautiful woman to stop her from screaming and alerting the bad guys
Get shot, and brush it off, saying “I ain’t got time to bleed”.
Catch a punch and be able to twist the guy’s hand until he goes down to his knees
Be embroiled in a lawsuit that leads to a heroic story, “I broke the leg of a gang banger who was robbing a liquor store, and now he’s suing me.”
Stop a crime by throwing something – a guy steals a purse and starts running, I throw a can of corn football-style and knock him out
Track someone – I dismount my horse, then do that low squat where I pick up a clump of dirt and sift it through my fingers
Hock a championship belt or super bowl ring at a pawn shop when I hit rock bottom
Shout, “Release the hounds!”
Pull a fake mustache off someone and shout, “Ah Ha!”
Have a hot towel on my face at a barber shop with a cigar sticking out
Dislocate my shoulder to get out of a straight jacket
Snap Larry King’s suspenders and turn him into a pile of ashes
Shout, “Not on my watch!”
Direct a movie called “Awesome”, so the entertainment shows will have to refer to me as ‘Awesome director Adam Carolla”. Then, follow it up with a sequel, “Hung like a rhino”.
Drive a car off a pier onto a garbage barge (with a super squeamish passenger)
Be stripped of a crown
Tell my team to “synchronize watches”
Pull down a surgical mask and say, “There was nothing I could do.” Or beat someone on the chest and shout, “Live, damn you!”
Demand unmarked bills
Box a kangaroo
Drape a suit jacket over handcuffs like John Gotti
Fend off a Kodiak bear with a torch
Pop the locks off an attaché case full of money and slide it across the table
Be tied to a chair with a hot chick
Have to choose between cutting a red wire and a blue wire
Fight someone on top of a moving train

Review of A Mathematical State of Grace
A Mathematical State of Grace: Book 1 by Cathy McGough
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Brilliant!
This is a highly creative young adult novel. Grace is a sixteen-year-old mathematical genius who has always had a crush on star athlete Vincente. The feelings are not mutual. When Grace suffers a traumatic brain injury, the lines between realities become blurred as Grace embarks on an adventure that somehow includes Vincente.
I really can’t say more without spoilers, but this is a story of wild imagination, fantastic adventure, and mind-bending concepts about the nature of the Universe.
The story moves quickly, with well-developed characters and vividly imagined scenarios. Highly recommended for teens and adults!

What are You Working on Now?
I have a Master’s degree in Chemistry, which gives me a lot of thoughts about genetic engineering. I’m working on a techno thriller, “Mortal Coil”, that explores an unintended global catastrophe brought on by Man’s hubris. This is complex subject matter and I haven’t the slightest idea what the third act will look like at this point.
Here is the teaser.
When Julian Neuhaus escapes from a Level 5 government facility, the Pentagon brings all its resources to bear on his capture. His physician, Dr. Holter Cade, may have a unique ability to locate Julian, but he’s not convinced he should cooperate with the government.
While a global search and destroy mission unfolds, Cade mounts his own hunt, with more flexible motives. You see, although Julian is the most dangerous human who has ever existed, he’s only seventeen.
I’m interested in what others are working on. Please feel free to post comments on Facebook or Twitter.

Review of Bishop’s War
Bishop’s War by Rafael Amadeus Hines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Strap on Your Seatbelt!
Wow! This book gets the adrenaline pumping from chapter one, and never takes the foot off the accelerator. Military action fans will not be disappointed.
The hero, John, faces enemies from every angle, foreign and domestic. His odds of survival, much less success, are astronomical.
I love the way Hines expertly blends together multiple plotlines, never leaving the reader confused. His treatment of “good” vs. “evil” is nuanced, making the characters and story relatable and realistic.
The pace and non-stop action will sometimes make you pause to catch your breath.
I highly recommend Bishop’s War to all military action adventure fans. I eagerly await future installments in this series.

Not So Sure About You, Though
Adam Carolla was recently looking for an outlet for his self funded documentary, The 24 Hour War. He met with two executives at a major cable network.
After exchanging pleasantries, one of the men said, “Adam, you know we’ve met before, right?”
Adam had no recollection of the meeting.
The executive continued, “In the 90s, my partner and I applied for positions on your TV program, The Man Show. When we entered the room, you shook my partner’s hand and said, ‘You look pretty healthy. I doubt you were ever molested.’ You then shook my hand and said, ‘Not so sure about you, though.'”
“So, tell us about this documentary you’d like to run on our network…”

5 Star Review of Execution of Justice
5.0 out of 5 stars Character-driven Action/Adventure
By David Buyck on October 19, 2017
Format: Kindle Edition
This is one of the most entertaining and engaging books I’ve read in a couple of decades. It is difficult to find such exceptional mix of literary prowess and action/adventure theme. It is as if Alexander Dumas, Tom Clancy and John Belushi collaborated on a novel. Character-drive behind the action/adventure plot give this dark historical fiction page-turner soul. 1970s nostalgia lends an entertaining overtone. Character development is a stand out as the protagonist grapples with abuse, privilege, racism, and classism as he struggles to find his own definition of justice and morality.
