... Interview with the Vampire would have been a perfect film if not for Tom Cruise.

...Madonna should have been nominated for an Oscar for Evita . Just watch, she'll show up in some little film years from now as the grumpy grandmother and then the Academy will nominate her a la Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights .

...there needs to be a film about the life of British crooner Nick Drake.

...Julie Taymor's Across the Universe is destined to be a classic.

Music Review: Tracy Chapman, "Our Bright Future"


I just adore Tracy Chapman. Her voice is one of the most recognizable in the industry, and her songwriting ability is up there with the best. I want her to be my friend. In 2008 she released Our Bright Future, her eighth - that's right, EIGHTH - studio album. Most people I've talked to are only aware of her first self-titled collection and New Beginning, which contained the Grammy-winning "Give Me One Reason." But she's had others, some of which are even more stirring than those two...
