Oh, hello blog

Husband received a phone call way too early this morning which woke us all up. Result? Overtired and very cranky household (especially mummy) on a public holiday. *sigh* Anyway, got up and started tidying up – have spent the past couple of days focussing on academic marking, and the few days before that on visitors, parties and slushing for One Small Step, so while the house wasn’t horrible, it does need a good talking to.

We have a date!

Probably the most interesting thing that has happened this week is we have a caesarean date! Barring unforeseen early arrivals (none of the others showed any sign of coming early, so fingers – and legs! – crossed!), new baby will arrive on November 8. Which is speeding closer way faster than I like! The doctor, nursing and admin staff at the Launceston General Hospital antenatal section are really very nice.

It’s not until you travel with three children while 31-33 weeks pregnant that you really appreciate being at home! At least, that’s what I feel like right now It’s been a very busy but lovely 12 days away, which we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed, but oh, it’s so nice to be back in our own space, our own BEDS! Flying visit to WA

We’re making the most of these school holidays by wandering about the countryside! Travel to date:

Thursday last week: hopped on a plane to QLD. Kids travelled well, Jetstar was fine. Flew into Brisbane, then hired a car. Got to Toowoomba that night, as planned, for a not terribly restful night’s sleep (note to self: two year olds are not fun to share a bed with, and 9 year olds who want to see Grandpop and go fishing wake up really really early).

How are those holidays going?

Well, doing okay. Where are we at on the list?

1. Finish marking batch 2 – already underway and cruising. Much simpler marking than the last batch, thank goodness, and half the amount!

2. Write a bunch of book reviews. I can see six books from here that are read but not yet reviewed, and have two more on the shelf with deadlines.

3. Schedule a bunch of reviews for ASif! and WASLA Reviews. Also follow up some outstanding reviews for WASLA.

Holiday goals

Well, it’s actually just “next four days” goals, as the rest of the school holidays are accounted for elsewhere. But we’ve got a lot to do. And after the holidays, I’ll do set of “before baby” goals! First things first:

Big day

Yesterday was a big day. It was my last day at work at Launceston Church Grammar School, where I have been employed since January this year (lucky enough to be offered the job before we moved). It was interesting, leaving another job so soon. I’ve been in workplaces shorter times (thanks to the transient nature of my husband, mainly!) but did four years at Kolbe before this, so it was a bit different.
