Sex & Subterfuge…All In One Place!

It is my pleasure to welcome Sex & Subterfuge author Isabel Roman today! Let's jump right into the good stuff.

AS: Sex and Subterfuge is your second of three installments in your Dark Desire of the Druids series. How was the idea for this series born and which is your favorite character so far?

IR: Hi, Amber, thanks so much for hosting me!

Actually, there are four Druids books, while Temptations & Treachery isn't in print, it's Isadore's story. She's Lucien's sister and though I wouldn't say...

Spammers Say The Sweetest Babble

Or should I word it the thing nicest. Maybe the good doing?

I can't help it. I get a huge kick out of spammer comments. Not only are they complimentary but often linguistically befuddled. Sometimes, I want to keep them and reply. The risk of readers getting shot over to the latest flat tummy or free flat screen scam keeps me checked though.

Still, here are a couple faves:

"You have wonderfully written the post. I have liked your way of writing this. Thanks for sharing this."

"haha, I love...

Motivational Mondays: Silver Lining

So, readers, how did your treasuring exercise go from last week? Were you able to capture ten minutes every day? What are your results?

Today, we have an exercise in finding the bright side.

The difference between a glass being half full and half empty boils down to choice. How you choose to look at it. We all have our first reaction to the glass, but we don't always realize we can change that perception. If we want to. Here's a quick and probably terribly obvious way to create a silver lining ...

My Own Little Mental Vacation

I decided to take a couple weeks off from writing and give Milla, my muse, and, Charles, my internal editor, a vacation in the form of reading a bunch of really great books. I'm reading Erin Kellison's Shadow series, every Rachel Gibson I can a hold of, Maggie Stiefvater and more. Amazingly, I'm going through about a book every two days. It feels decadent!

This vacation, along with my latest Motivational Monday exercise, is filling up all the holes doubt and fear and stress kicked through me i...

Motivational Mondays: 10 Minutes

One of my favorite authors is life coach Martha Beck. Her book Steering By Starlight has had a significant impact on my life, including my approach to writing. This exercise is my breakdown of the one in Steering By Starlight:

1. Find a quiet place where you can have ten minutes to yourself.  Now, if you're like me, this place may only exist in your mind, while tuning out Spongebob and after bribing two little creatures with ice cream.

2. Allow yourself to daydream of your heart's desire. Pick ...

The Other Amber Scott(s)

I was on Facebook the other day and had my first chat by a stranger. First, let me say, random chatting feels a little like a loud knock on the bathroom door. The guy asked me if I am the actress Amber Scott from Hook.

Nope. Not me.

I get quite a bit of traffic from folks looking for her, which could be a good or a not so good thing. I lean toward good. When I chose Amber Scott as my pen name, I didn't know there was an actress by the same name.

In fact, starting out, I thought Amber Dayne...

Wowee Cool!!

A few weeks back, I guest blogged at CJ Gabriel's site (here). She's way cool. I became a fan.

A couple weeks after, I entered an author contest at her site. The guest offered to review a book based on a five line pitch. I pitched Play Fling and won!

And now, Cecile at All I Want And More has posted her review of Play Fling here.

Come by and say hello?

My Fourth of July Insight

We spent the weekend in San Diego with my Auntie Fe and Uncle Ralph, celebrating with friends and family. The little weekender was so much fun, it felt more like a week away.

Over the course of the weekend, a family friend made an interesting connection.

At age fifteen, on one of my visits with my uncle, we all went out for a movie after dinner. We just went to the theater and picked whatever was showing next.

It was Basic Instinct. Apparently, Sharon Stone's explicit and acrobatic performance h...
