Motivational Mondays: When You're Strange
Are you strange? Is the song in your head now, too?
My beloved favorite author to stalk, Gini Koch, has included my blog in seven that she passed this illustrious award to.
Yay! I am strange!
This award is based on the release of Cate Gardner's short story collection, Strange Men in Pinstriped Suits. The book is available for pre-order and at a discount of $1.99 off of the cover price. To help celebrate this release, Cate and Strange Publications have a contest with two prize packages to...

P.P.I.F.: Rachel Gibson
My career coach, fellow Plot Mama, and recent Daphne de Maurier winner (winner, chicken dinner), Ann Charles, recommended I give author Rachel Gibson a whirl. I tend to be more of a historical, paranormal or fantasy reader, though, so I dragged my feet in test driving Rachel's books.
So, I read Daisy's Back In Town and feel completely, head over toes, in love. Wow. I'm halfway through devouring Rachel Gibson's backlist now. The sexual tension and love scenes in this and her other novels...

Hump Day Updates
I'm over at Plot Mamas today, blogging about "Delicate Farting Flowers". Hope you'll stop by. Even if you don't say hi, it helps to see a click.
Happy Hump Day!

Motivational Monday: Let's Suck!
The very best advice I heard as a beginning author was, "Allow yourself to write badly." This advice, given by a college professor, stuck. It got reinforced when I read No Plot, No Problem by Chris Baty. It is why I join National Novel Writing Month and Script Frenzy every year even when crossing the finish line appears impossible. I've heard that Nora Roberts has said she can't do anything with a blank page. I think this follows that same line.
It means, stink it up. Really, really suck. For ...

P.P.I.F.: Maggie Stiefvater
Like Tom sings, the waiting is the hardest part. While the four Touched By An Alien by Gini Koch copies travel, as Shadow Bound by Erin Kellison and Mind Games by Carolyn Crane readers race to the five read finish line, I shall share with you my latest most favorite reads.
Why? Because it's something to blog about. Because they won't be debut authors yet I want to pay forward a phenomenal read that I learned from as an author.
You with me? Sweet!
First up, Maggie Stiefvater.

Hump Day Updates: Firsts…and Seconds
I'm blogging at Plot Mamas every Wednesday now. I hope you'll come by and say hi! http://plotmamas.com
In other news, I submitted three workshop proposals for the Desert Rose RWA sponsored Fall Workshop day at the Scottsdale Civic Library. Last year, I had a blast presenting "Red Carpet Writing". Fingers crossed!
With these workshops in mind, I'm creating my new batch of door tags and more. SO much fun! If you'd like one, please let me know. I'm happy to mail one off to you. One side reads...

Motivational Mondays: Are you bored?
Starting right now, at this very moment, you are already losing interest in this. Yep, your brain has the physical capacity to care about something, to focus on it, for only ten fleeting minutes. Sometimes, even less than ten minutes. In fact, zero minutes, if the first few seconds of stimulus meant to capture your attention, failed.
So…Did I fail? Let me try again. Snap Out Of It!!
How does our ten minute attention span relate to getting motivated today? Motivation's stamina. Have you ever...

P.P.I.F: The Race Is On
Today is the day! I've adhered the following letter to the interior cover of Mind Games by Carolyn Crane and Shadow Bound by Erin Kellison:
Dear Reader,
Have you ever seen a movie or heard a song that you couldn't wait to share with a friend because you loved it so much? Well, that is how I feel about this book and you are the friend I want to share it with. This book, along with another debut author's, is in a race of sorts. As a way to say thank you to the author for the experience she gave...

Congrats and More!
Two weeks back, to celebrate Play Fling becoming a Smashwords top 25 bestseller, I gave away a signed copy to a randomly drawn commenter. Congratulations to Carol! Your winnings are on the way along with a couple little extras. Enjoy!
Thank you to everyone who came by and said hello at Plot Mamas. I not only survived week #2 (poop week) there but the day of humor helped me get through a very emotional day: My oldest's 1st day in Kindergarten. I only cried a lot!
