December 7, 2022: CARnage STL Project Closes On Kickstarter Today

This experiment in 3D printable STL files for use with Car Wars and other autocombat games has gone quite well, and today is your last chance to join the Kickstarter campaign and take advantage of the project savings. Supporters have unlocked several stretch goals, and we're at work preparing the files for release to the backers in early 2023.

What's included? Over 60 separate bits you can print on a resin printer and then add to your 1/64 scale toy cars. Using these parts, you can customize toy cars and then base them (a 3D base is included in the campaign!) for play in Car Wars Sixth Edition . In addition to the parts, this Kickstarter also offers a shot at the 3D files for the miniatures included in the Car Wars Sixth Edition line . . . and four new car miniatures!

December 6, 2022: Parting The Mists Of The Future

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to predict the future in what we think of as the Real World. Game worlds are not so limited. In some of them, you absolutely can predict the future. In others, everyone believes in divination – including the PCs! That fortune-teller in the marketplace might be a scam, but might just as well be a respectable professional offering valuable personal and business advice. You pay your gold piece and you take your chance. This means that in-game methods of divination can be very useful to the GM. And it just happens that we've got several . . . The Silicon Valley Taro t is fortune-telling for today, or perhaps, as Max Headroom would have it, 20 minutes into the future. The deck of 70 cards speaks to modern tropes, but can be used just like a classic Tarot. The Zodiac Die is a 12-sider with the signs of the zodiac and a booklet discussing how it can be used for divination, character creation, or quick bits of NPC background.The brand-new Elder Futhark Die is a 24-sider (Yes, really! Its 24 sides make an elegant die!) with the symbols of an important Norse-style runic system. Its booklet tells you how to "cast the runes" in a Viking-inspired game, and right now it's on pre-order!Also new and on pre-order is the Bad Luck Die . It is a 26-sider (13 twice) with 13 different traditional and modern symbols for bad luck, starting with the black cat and the number 13. December 3, 2022: Munchkin Cosplay Contest Results

Drop the confetti; our Munchkin Cosplay Contest has come to a close, and we had some amazing entrants! We've featured some of our favorites here, but we first want to thank everyone who entered. There were a lot of creative costumes – heck, we even had a house dressed up for the occasion! We hope some of these costumes made it out to some Halloween parties (and maybe even some trick-or -treating). We had a tough time choosing, but we've got our three winners:

Third Place: Cheese Wiz

We're also sending out some honorable-mention prizes since we had so many amazing costumes, so look for a little bonus loot if this is you! December 2, 2022: Kickstarter Reports, December 2022 Update

Our Warehouse 23 team has been phenomenal this year, taking several Kickstarter campaigns through the fulfillment process quickly and without trouble. It is only their efforts that have allowed us to move through so many projects much, much faster than originally planned. This is important, since we can juggle only so many active crowdfunding campaigns at once without encountering timing issues. Many of us owe the warehouse crew a thank you, since their work makes it easier for us to introduce more ideas to Kickstarter. Which ideas? December 1, 2022: Dire Wolf's Munchkin Digital Releases On Steam Early Access

Munchkin Digital from Dire Wolf Digital launches in Early Access on Steam today! This precedes the future release on iOS and Android, but they're coming! For now, though, you'll be able to get the game on Steam for Windows and Mac. This is Early Access, which doesn't mean unfinished, but it does mean that the developers are looking for feedback. You'll be able to submit your feedback via Steam through reviews and forums, and they'll be collecting player data from games played. This will, in turn, help Dire Wolf make the game even better for the full launch. All you have to do is play!

There will be both solo and multiplayer play, and our Discord might be an excellent place to look for a game with some fellow munchkins! So get some games in, have some fun, and know that you're helping the awesome team over at Dire Wolf improve Munchkin Digital for yourself and for your future opponents. Fans have been asking for a true Munchkin video game experience for a long time, so to see it finally release is a genuine thrill. Let's Kick Down some digital doors and play Munchkin Digital!

November 30, 2022: Fantasy NPCs On Kickstarter

Some of you have been asking whether we are still moving forward with the Squarescape project. You bet we are. In fact, a photo session is scheduled for next week and I'll be sure to share some of the results. Dry ice may be involved. Spooooooky mist, anyone?

Since this is a terrain project, we'll need a variety of figures and props for the photography. Here's where some of them are coming from. I've backed this beautiful campaign at an All In level and happily recommend it to your attention. The sculptures are wonderful and the creator, Rafael Moreno Dominguez, is enthusiastic and communicates well. I'm a fan!

November 29, 2022: Learn Zombie Dice With "Watch It Played!"

First published in 2010, Zombie Dice has been one of our top sellers for well over a decade. The game started out during walks through Madison and went through a number of versions before Steve finalized the design of the game as you know it today. I can still remember one of the earliest playtest sessions where the dice draws were not random; Steve had structured the rules so that each player could select which difficulty of dice to throw on their turn. We soon found that the blind draw, the randomness of chance, made for a far more engaging and exciting experience.

If you have friends who have yet to discover the fun of pushing their luck just a little too far in Zombie Dice , then I highly recommend this tutorial video from Watch It Played! The video breaks down every step of the game and makes it easy to introduce new players to the fun of chasing down and consuming brains.
