The start of the week just isn’t the same without the Dark Matter Monday stream with the gang at Orville Nation. But, for Stargate fans, there’s THIS –

This one’s a double no for me – and a double yes for Akemi.
Sent off an expanded pitch for that sci-fi superhero cloak and dagger series yesterday. A fun premise with a colorful cast of characters as our unlikely protagonists. This was actually the third of the three show ideas I submitted and, surprisingly, the chosen favorite. It’s always the one you least expect.
Tomorrow, it’s a rare second shot as we re-pitch a new take of that classic science fiction television series. The original was trippy, but our version is going to downright psychedelic sci-fi.
Got the first batch of concept sketches for Project F from the amazing Henry Fong. Some really stunning work from Henry, including: First World Corporate Headquarters in GangNam, Jayu Stadium, the tricked out pods (!), various designs for The Citadel, the Embarkation Chamber (That is, frankly, even cooler than I had originally envisioned), Second World, and some character designs (including some wicked weapons). These images will eventually be incorporated into our pitch deck and bible…and to this blog, eventually. Stay tuned!

July 17, 2021: The Saturday Report!
Finally tracked down our second pfizer vaccines yesterday. It only took about three hours of walking around the city to get it done. The doctor who administered my shot advised me to steer clear of alcohol for the weekend – but I’m assuming that does not apply to bourbon-laced chocolate ice cream. I feel a little lethargic today, but I’m not sure if that’s just my standard run-of-the-mill lethargy. Akemi, on the other hand, is exhausted and ended up napping this afternoon.
So that’s over and done with.
Until they tell us we need boosters.

Ding! Ding! Disney and HBO Max have entered the ring! I wonder how this may affect their subscription-based strategy.
No interest in seeing this movie, but I WOULD watch the hell out of this review series…

Huzzah! A productive(ish) day! I finally made some inroads on that sc-fi spy comedy series. After weeks spent agonizing over what I wanted to change, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t want to change anything, was happy with what I had, and just moved forward with a description of our world and the introduction of three additional team members as well as our beleaguered handler. In the next few days, I will (hopefully) follow up with a first season overview, a few episodic springboards, and a section devoted to tone and theme after which I will send it off, like a mathematical message sent out into deep space, never to be seen or heard from again. I CANNOT wait!
Waiting for notes on the revised pitch for the epic comic book series adaptation, as well as a date for our second shot at that classic sci-fi series. Tomorrow, it’s a strategy meeting on another project while I await news on TimEscape. Sadly, the place we were going to pitch is a no-go as it would have meant working with a crook (I know, because I already worked with him), so we’re redirecting focus to hopefully more honest pastures.
So, those of you who have returned to your post-pandemic routine (or are in the process of doing so), how are you finding it?

Akemi: The stock is flat. It’s flateaued.
Me: You mean plateaued. There’s not such word as flateaued.
Akemi: WUT???
It pains me because her version does make more sense. Like “Happy Delayted Birthday”.
Went to get my second vaccine today and showed up only to discover they were out of Pfizer and were offering the Moderna instead. The CDC claims it’s perfectly safe to mix vaccines. Now. But about a month ago…
Did the science coincidentally change that fast around the same time certain places started running out of Pfizer vaccines?
I mean, this is the same CDC that was claiming there was no evidence of aerosolized transmission ((despite the anecdotal evidence) so they chose not to take action. And before you trot out the ole “but science changes” argument, I would suggest their early stance was the equivalent of “Well, we have no proof that komodo dragons eat children so I’m just going to go ahead and let this komodo dragon babysit”. This is also the same CDC of the “We don’t advise people wear masks because they’re too fucking stupid to know how to use them” school of thought.
The volunteer on site informed me that the Pfizer vaccines were in short supply and being redirected for vaccinating children. My question is “What is it about the Moderna that has the experts so concerned they’re choosing to prioritize Pfizer over it?”
All great questions that I’m sure no one has the answer to. In the meantime, I’ve rescheduled my appointment for Friday afternoon – at which time I will show up once again and they will no doubt inform me they’re out of Pfizer and, hey, how about some Moderna?
To be honest, if they had told me beforehand, I would have done the research and probably taken the Moderna, but the fact that they’re keeping people in the dark and springing the “You traveled all this way, so may as well…” strategy makes me inclined NOT to get it.
I’m more of an introvert anyway, so all good.
